  1. Would have been interesting. Tamara and my daughter were teammates last year and part of this year till she quit AAU and played volleyball for a while. She practically lived with us for the whole summer and and a half and wanted to play for Boone but because of her family situation she stayed at Newport. She also did not want to let down her coach and her teammates.Beleive it or not we agreed with her it would be better for her to stay at Newport. She turned 18 this past summer and could have lived with us or another family that was close to her also in the florence area. So it just goes to show that all our interests at Boone are not just to win BB games we do care about these girls best interests.
  2. funny how you have so much respect for Nell but you sure criticize on here either take one side or the other you would get more respect. You sure do know how to drop all your outstanding credentials for all to see on here by what you print you are the greatest thing since sliced bread. We should just bow down to you and anything you write....I mean with that 82% winning percentage and on and on and on.
  3. I also know this girl and her dad, there was alot more to it than you know. Once again if you do not know ask do not print what you are not 100% sure of. Once again it is only your opinion and your coaching style that you are preaching about. In AAU when you get the cream of the crop and most fundamentals are already instilled by other coaches you do not have to coach the marginal players that need that extra attention. Do not ever compare AAU with High School coaching it is apples and oranges. Since I have been around Nell for the last 6 years I stand by the fact that she gets the most out of her kids by her coaching style. Until you have been that High School coach don't preach about the best way to do it. Lastly I did not know this was a one on one conversation I thought this was a message board
  4. I think it should be as the basketball turns. You are right about one thing you can't make this stuff up. Coach K you must not be that good of a coach with that record it is a wonder you have any kids at all. Just kidding I am sure it is a typo. You rag on Nell about her style of coaching that she would never put a hand on your daughter and you are man enough to stand up to her sounds alittle condensending to me. Are you saying we are not man enough to stand up to her? If you had a boy would you allow the coach to grab him or wouldn't that be a manly thing to do. Nell realizes who she can grab and who she can't who responds to what type of coaching. If I had a problem with it I would have never sent my daughter there and if it ever crossed the line I would be "man enough" to step in. Stick to what you know and ask someone who does on the rest. 3pt shooter your memory is failing you the projected starting 5 on varsity played AAU and off the bench Behrens and findley both played that does not include any underclassmen that may have played. I think Sparrow sat this AAU season out. Stay tuned it only gets better as opening day gets closer!
  5. 3ptshooter, I agree with you on Klei plays hard all the time but sometimes I think she tries to hard to carry the team. She is one of those streaky shooters and when she is off the rest of the team is not ready to carry the load. Cundiff IMO will be the key to that teams success. She is very formidable in the middle and will be hard to stop if they get her the ball. I have the good fortune or maybe not of knowing Tamarra Sneed very well she is talent wise the best in the 9th region. The problem is being that talented she doesn't push herself hard enough and that is her downfall. I know from personal expierience that she gets frustrated that she does not have the talent around her that some of these other schools have and she can't showcase her talent. Trying to make a high school girl understand that people can see her abilities even while they are losing is hard pill to swallow. I also agree if Boone can keep their chemistry with all that talent on the team they will be hard to beat, but Notre Dame was in this exact same spot last year and we saw what happened there. Its a long season and everybody will be gunning for them I hope they stay healthy and return to Western.
  6. So what are you saying if they had not come to Boone they would not have gotten a scholarship that Fookes made them into a collegiate athlete or is it more sour grapes about transfers. 1 transfer out of 8 playing at the college level since 2000 does not seem to me like an over the top percentage.
  7. 1. Boone County 9th Region 2. Notre Dame 3. New Cath. 4. Conner 5. Holmes 6. St. Henry 7. Highlands 8. Holy Cross (before the transfer of Behrens) 9. Newport 10. LLoyd 1. Sneed Newport 2. Klei New Cath 3. Dickman N.D. 4. Bradley Boone 5. Niemer St. Henry 6. Weaver Holmes 7. Hicks Boone 8. O'Neil Conner 9. Brasseaux Boone 10 Behrens H.C. (transfered to Boone)
  8. Just from 2000 till this year Boone County has had 8 girls play at the collegiate level with 3 of them in div. 1. 1 other girl was offered a full ride in div. 1 but decided not to play and focus on her studies.
  9. Are you talking division 1 or just playing at the collegiate level?
  10. the problem with that is I do not think the Behrens claimed anything it was the people writing in this thread that made all those accusations. Last timed I checked Katie has not written in here.
  11. You are definitely right about one thing to play in games at Boone Couty you have to earn it. Even if you have been a 2 year starter the next year you have to earn your spot again. As of this writing Katie's eligibility is in the hands of the commisioner of the KHSAA. She was told she was allowed to participate in all drills and open gyms. The problem stems from the selling of their house. The people backed out at the last minute causing them to own their original house and the one they purchased in Boone County. All should be cleared up soon though.
  12. DONE!! I am just glad to see people from the 9th region finally getting excited about something. Most posts on here are from all other parts of Ky. except Northern Ky. Only now maybe we can have some positive news from the 9th.
  13. If you were at the Mason County game then what you saw there was not basketball. Boone was up by 20 at the half but was called for something like 19 fouls in the second half to Mason Counties 4. On Boone's defense they started 2 freshman 2 Juniors and 1 Senior last year. The inexperience showed up real big in the State game. They will come along nicely this year if they can continue to play as a team. I can't say how they stack up against LC though only time will tell and the game they play against each other.
  14. Boone will also travel to Tennessee over Christmas for their highly touted tournament. With the addition of Behrens it should be an exciting year for the Lady Rebels and hopefully another trip to Western.
  15. Great! even better for BC. It will only make the girls better having to fight for playing time. Having been around these girls for a pretty long time I can tell you that Katie has already fit right in with girls and has been playing AAU with them through the summer and hanging out with them in the evenings. Back to the August 1 rule where did my daughter come up with that. Some one had to tell her or she would not have known that.
  16. From what my daughter has told me she will be ineligible this season because they did not move into the district by August 1. She said she can practice but not play this season. Though she could be wrong.
  17. Boone County isn't even a lock to win the 9th region they won't be able to compete with Lexington Catholic And you are basing that on personal observation or opinion?
  18. Was there myself, my daughter played in the game also but on the losing end she was #25. Klei did have a good game, but they would never have been close if it were not for Merritt.
  19. I wouldn't exactly say take their place but there are at least 4, 9th region juniors who could be put on that list and be as good or even better than the list you have now. The point I am bringing up is no one was even asked from up here or for that matter even considered.
  20. And once again no one from 9th region even asked to attend. Talk about getting slighted.
  21. thanks for clearing that up appreciate it.

  23. division 1 coach stowers from Simon Kenton/Carrey Fay from Ryle division 2 coach sloan from Newport and coach Hans from St. Henry/Rachel Lantry from Holy Cross division 3 coach Stamm from Ludlow/Abbey Frohle Ludlow Congrats to each coach and player for an exceptional year.
  24. hey Zig they were not the only player and coach of the year in the 9th each division had a player and a coach of the year, each one just as deserving as the next.
  25. So theoretically you could have a POY not even make the all region team. Not sure if that ever happened though. I know in the 9th region we had only 2 seniors make the division 1 all region team all others were underclassmen. Carrey Fay was POY. An exceptionally nice young lady who gives 110% all the time and a credit to our region. I wish here luck in here future endevours and hope to see her playing at the next level.
