Best College Player Producing Girls Team in State???

Featured Replies

Which high school program in the state is the best at producing college basketball players????

Recently, Sacred Heart. I would say West Carter has had there share as well in the last 10 years or so. As well Lex Cath, Scott Co. Alot of schools around the state also contribute in any given year, including local schools such as Nicholas Co(Denkins), Montgomery Co(Vice), and Fleming Co(Carver).

Bracken Co. (H. Jefferson)

Fleming Co. (Isenberg)

St. Pat (Klee M, Klee R)

Harrison Co. (Faulkner)

Just to name a few

Pendleton County has 3 players playing collegiately.

Megan Wood and Jenna Kelsch at Thomas More

Lisa Dougherty at EKU

Are you talking division 1 or just playing at the collegiate level?

If you're talking all types of colleges. Madison Central had 7 players play college basketball from '99 to '05 with 2 in DI. Olivia Terry at Toledo and Tiffany Green at College of Charleston.

Good thread, IBleedMaroon. It is good to be reminded of what sports can mean to young people...and their parents...as a college education is made available by means of, in this case, girls high school basketball.

As for Toledo and College of Charleston...both are fine schools, but I for one am curious about how many kids have opted to go to the smaller schools, where the college experience is oftentimes richer and more rewarding.

Just from 2000 till this year Boone County has had 8 girls play at the collegiate level with 3 of them in div. 1. 1 other girl was offered a full ride in div. 1 but decided not to play and focus on her studies.

Rose Hill are you serious they've been the laughing stock of the 16th untill about 4 or 5 years ago....Some of these schools have only produced 1 or 2 college ball teams in the last 5 or 6 years...I'm talking about shools that produce college players year in and year out....

I think everyone knows where this is going..............go ahead Maroon, give us the list on West Carter.

Didn't take many posts to annoy folk did you Maroon? So,,,as we live in the past, let's hear it!

Wait, maybe I'll start a new thread on graduation rates or percentage of students who attend college at all in the 16th.

Is this designed to build up or tear down?

It would be interesting to know how many of the 8 started with Boone County from their MS years and on in. The one that decided to focus on their studies started at Ryle. Another started at Highlands.

Well sort of. I believe the one from Highlands you are referring to actually started playing Varsity at Bellevue as a middle school student (kind of deja vu all over again with the Props this year) and then left to go to Highlands and then left to go to Boone Co.

Russell has had some kids that were originally in their program go to college along with girls who finished out here also.
