Let me preface this by saying that I have nothing at all against Rose Hill, or any of the fine young men that go to school there, but I do have a question to pose to everyone. Now I realize that there was probably a predetermined format for the All Tournament Team, but is that really a good route to go? The reason I ask is I couldn't help but notice that Rose Hill placed two members on the All Tournament Team. Rose Hill played one game, and were beaten 17-0 by Boyd Co. Not only were they shutout, but they were also no-hit. Wouldn't it have been more reasonable, or fair to pick two other players from either Ashland, or Boyd Co. who no doubt would have been more deserving to make the All Tournament Team? I guess the real question is should there be predetermined formats to the All Tournament Teams?

Kasey Clark from Russell could have broke this record a long time ago, but fortunately he plays for a coach that is the true definition of the word Class.

I was impressed with Ashland the one game I saw them against Russell. From what I've read on here and in the papers they've only gotten better since then. I know Coach Buchanon always has his Royals ready to play. I look for them to give Ashland all they want. Ashland 35 Mason Co. 28

I'm looking forward to this game as always. I believe our boys will rebound nicely after a very tough loss. Coach McGlone and his staff will get them regrouped and refocused. There's no way they will lose on the night when Coach McGlone is honored. Russell 35 Boyd Co. 14

I sat on the Ashland side with my sister and brother in law. We were near the 30 yard line on the far endzone away from the stadium entrance. The ball clearly hit the turf before Frazier got his arms around it. I would say it was probably tough to see from the other side of the field, but the official made the correct call.

Wow what a ballgame. That is one of the best high school football games I've ever seen. I hadn't seen Ashland play all year, but had just read about them in the papers, and here on BGP. I must say I was really shocked at how easily Ashland seemed to move the ball tonight. If it hadn't been for their turnovers I think Ashland could have walked away with an easy win. As much as Ashland seemed to control the ballgame Russell had a 14-0 lead early in the 3rd quarter. I really thought the key to the ballgame was when Ashland marched right back down the field after that and scored. They could have verily easily quit when they got down. I got a big chuckle from the Ashland student section when they ran onto the field after the 2nd OT. What in the world were they watching. The kick by Ashland's kicker wasn't even close. Anyways congrats to the Tomcats on the win. You definitely earned the respect of this Russell fan. Does this mean that Raceland is 8 points better than Russell? :scared: :scared:

With no disrespect to all my friends from Ashland, I just believe that this Russell team is too talented. Then you add to that one of the best coaching staffs in the state, and it spells doom for the Tomcats. Russell 35 Ashland 14

I would hate to see Russell lose such a quality coach, but I believe Merle Kidwell would be a great choice for the Fleming Co. job. I know he wanted the Russell boys job when it was open, but he was passed over twice.

How many days did you, or anybody else outside Rose Hill spend on Winslow Road? Why can't people congratulate Rose Hill on a job well done. I didn't see anybody making excuses or accusations when our football team won the state championship. Most people were very supportive and congratulatory toward Russell. I'm afraid some people will always try to rain on others parades. It is a shame.

I've never had the pleasure of meeting Brandi Rayburn, but I've seen her play several times, and she is a very good basketball player. I congratulate her on her scholarship to Morehead. I must admit though that I feel that Kala Faulkner had a much better year and is more deserving of the award. I don't know if Hoops # 1 is speculating, or if he already knows who won the awards. If what he says is true, then I believe I agree with scooterbob that politics have played a big part in this award. I don't know what Hoops #1 is referring to by stating that Coaches look at class and character, but I believe it is truly a reflection of poor class and character upon the coaches if they have chosen Ms. Rayburn over Ms. Faulkner because of the simple fact that Ms. Faulkner left Russell and went to Rose Hill. I know that kids transfer all the time for various reasons, but for a group of coaches to hold a grudge against a young lady because of this shows nothing but immaturity and jealousy on their part. I know the whole situation that happened at Russell,(I have two kids at Russell) but to me this shows that the coaches, who are supposed to be adults and teach these young ladies and set good examples, are showing poor leadership and are acting childish. As far as Coach Euton goes, I've never had the opportunity to meet her, but I've heard nothing but good things about her. How in the world can her class and character be questioned? :confused:

You may want to check with some of your fellow Tomcat fans. I know he doesn't post on here anymore, but if I remember correctly AshlandTomcat41 said that Patterson was overrated. He probably wouldn't help the Tomcats any.

I understand that, but like I said in my previous post, very seldom do you see a coach with a losing record rewarded with Coach of the Year.

No disrespect for Coach Thomas and the remarkable job he has done in getting Rowan Co.back to the championship game of the 16th region, but very seldom will you see a coach whose team has a losing record win Coach of the Year. I feel the top two candidates are Coach Pam Euton, and Coach Kidwell of Russell. Coach Euton has obviosuly done a great job at Rose Hill, and I think it's amazing that Coach Kidwell got his team as far as he did without the guard play that is needed to win.

I don't think anyone had a favorable whistle, other than what I expressed in my previous post, I thought the game was very well officiated. I too am very happy with the Russell team and program. I feel that Coach Kidwell did a remarkable job with the team this year. I think that Russell's record shows what a great coach we have. I'm sure that the Lady Royals feel the same way about their team and program also.

You won't find a bigger Russell supporter than me, but this sounds like sour grapes to me. Rose Hill was clearly the better team last night. They might have gotten away with a couple of fouls here and there, but there were some fouls called on Queen and Terry that simply weren't there. The Lady Royals deserved the victory. They played tough, scrappy defense all night long and would have won no matter what region's officials were calling the game. As far as tonight's game is concerned. I won't count out the Lady Vikings because they have proved that they are a worthy opponent, but I believe Rose Hill has too much talent. Rose Hill 61 Rowan Co. 46

I'm here" Like I said before I'm man enought to admit when I am wrong, and boy was I wrong tonight. :cry: Congrats to the Lady Royals. They really get after you on defense. They just caused too many problems for Russell tonight. Russell couldn't get into their half court offense. When they did they were successful, but Rose Hill was definitely the better team. I congratulate Rose Hill on the win, and I wish them good luck tomorrow night. I hope you win, and that you are very successful at the State Tournament.

That won't be a problem. I'm a big enough man to admit when and if I'm wrong. May I be sure and let you know the same thing if you're wrong? :sssh:

I sure hope Merle dresses for the game. He could get into a lot of trouble if he doesn't dress, not to mention that it would be one ugly sight. :scared: :scared: :scared: Merle's experience as a coach will be the difference. Write it down.

From reading your post the past year or so I know that you're close enough to many people at Ashland that you would know the answer to the question. My children love where they are, and they won't be going anywhere. It just seems to me that the double standard that many accuse Ashland of having is pretty accurate. Let me clairfy that by stating that I am talking about some of their fans and posters on here right now. I have seen them gripe and complain about the players at other schools, but it doesnt' take them long to get all excited when Ashland has a potential transfer.

So what is Ashland's stance on transfers? :confused:

How about I ask then? My kids have gone thru same school system their whole life.

Dodd has definitely had his critics the past couple of years, but winning the region should hush most of his critics. Congrats to Coach Dodd and the Devils. :fire: :fire:
