mcpapa Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Two remarkable stretches by 10th region teams. Mason County 68-5 overall, 7-1 in the Sweet 16 in '03 and '04. 61-4 if omitting the Sweet 16. Pendleton County 57-9 overall, 0-1 in the Sweet 16 in '05. Both teams played multiple tournaments both years, pretty much took on all comers. The difference between the two teams' post-season success - Chris Lofton. My question: Does anyone else see anyone dominating the 10th over the next couple of years like PC and MC?
panther15z30 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Possibly the Royals again in '07 & '08. Or even GRC.
bcfan24 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 It sure was a pleasure to see both of these teams squads play over the past four seasons (even though it came at the expense of Bourbon Co. during my high school years)...... I think if any team can be "dominate" over the next couple of seasons, it can be Mason Co. They have the best young talent in the region IMO.... However, I think GRC could spoil plans of 10th region dominance next season. Knowles will be my preseason POY, and Humphrey always does a fantastic job..... Montgomery and Brossart can also be difficult outs..... If any team is going to have this kind of "dominance", it'll probably be Mason Co, but unlike the last four years (especially 03-05), I dont see a year coming where a certain team will be an across the board favorite....
ladiesbballcoach Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Depending on where the compromises turnout, you have to always include Brossart in the discussion.
mcpapa Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 Possibly the Royals again in '07 & '08. Or even GRC. Turner will be tough to replace for the Royals. Still, they should be competitive, along with Clark County and Bishop Brossart. Several other teams just a notch below. Can Knowles become the force next year that Lofton was?
Rolls-Royce Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Lets not mention Knowles and Lofton in the same discussion. But Knowles is a great player and I would think he has a great chance to put up some big numbers and get a lot of recognition next year. All-State, Kentucky All-Stars, etc.
wildcat14 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Hasn't MC's freshman team only lost one game in the last 3 years? Seems like I saw something about that earlier in the year. If that is the case, MC might have a long stretch coming.
mcpapa Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 MC's freshman team has had a lot of success; however, I think Middleton played on that team as a 7th and 8th grader (not this year). Someone closer to the program will have to verify.

wildcat14 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Actually lost 2 games since 6th grade and Middelton hasnt played with them since 7th grade. sounds like they have the possibility for a long, dominant run.
gold sunrise Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 sounds like they have the possibility for a long, dominant run. GRC will give them their money worth. Most off the bench this year was Sophomores and Freshman. Also they have a 8th grader coming up...Should be some great match -ups in the 10th.
wildcat14 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I am looking forward to it. Although I am not from either school, I appreciate watching really good teams play so it should be fun.
KingSize Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Lets not mention Knowles and Lofton in the same discussion. But Knowles is a great player and I would think he has a great chance to put up some big numbers and get a lot of recognition next year. All-State, Kentucky All-Stars, etc. I was impressed with the playing ability of Knowles. He seemed to have a ball awareness on the court that cannot be taught but can only come from instinct. I cannot wait to watch him play again.
polarbear1994 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Clark County's big 3 are all juniours this year. Lokk for them to contend in '06-'07... Other than them I'd say no.
IAmAFan Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Depending on where the compromises turnout, you have to always include Brossart in the discussion. They have not dominated the tenth and will not dominate the tenth. Guard play will hurt them again next year. Not that they aren't very talented, but Mason and Clark Counties guards will kill them next year.
