  1. So what are the rankings? I guess the top 3 are probably: 1. SK 2. Anderson 3. Shelby After that, it gets trickier than last year and it is anyone's guess after above; maybe I am wrong. This can potentially be a very good SK team if they can keep everyone healthy.
  2. As posted on SK Sports Blog, Mullins had 303 in 1981 against Boone.
  3. Here's a pic of the logo. http://skpioneers.blogspot.com/
  4. I could be wrong but I had heard the track was going to be a regulation size located down in the pit with the soccer field.
  5. Picture is posted here... http://skpioneers.blogspot.com/
  6. Any reports on how the team has looked this summer?
  7. I could be wrong but best I can remember, the year was 1992 and the winner was Dixie. From what I can tell, Dixie played Warren East in round one of the state tourney? I know SK has a banner hanging in the gym that I have seen before that details the season. I know they were NKAC big school division champs but that is all I remember. Also, Dixie has a picture hanging of the team in their awards area that beat SK. Trey Grayson's sister played on the team if memory serves me right? SK did have some good years and tradition before the 1 win season dark ages.
  8. Congratulations to the SK team, Coach Stowers and his staff! Have a great time and represent No Ky and your region. I hope your team is well supported down state since it took so long to get there! It is hard to believe as many good teams that they have had over the years that this is the first time that they are headed to state. The late 70's/early 80's with Egglestons, Simpson; late 80's with Brosky and Jackson; the early 90's with a team that won the NKAC and was upset in the regional final by Dixie and the team two years ago that lost a 10 point lead in the fourth to Shelby County.
  9. A couple of weeks ago, there were some posts saying that things were a mess down at Henry County. What is the current state of the gym and the parking lots at HC? If things are still bad, are there plans for off site parking?
  10. The Walton team definitely didn't seem to bring much intensity. Maybe they were satisfied with moving on to the regional? Those expecting to see SK hit threes didn't get to see that part of the game as it seemed almost all of the SK points came off of wide open lay-ups. I agree that Stowers did a nice job of not running up the score. They had 28 after one and could have easily kept up that pace for the rest of the game.
  11. Barnes is a junior. Sorrell, who has been playing well as of late, is a soph. The only other underclassmen who has been getting any playing time is Schneider. They had one other junior in the line-up who has missed most of the season due to injury. It has been said in other posts but I don't think I have ever heard of 9 seniors on one basketball team before.
  12. The band drowned out the scoring leaders when the PA announcer gave the stats but I think Maegley had 18, Barnes 16 and Dressman (Tourney MVP) had 13. If there was a rebound to be had tonight- he went and got it. Very impressive game for him.
  13. Holy Cross had great athletes and this year they are turning into basketball players.
  14. SK can win if they play like they did against Cov Cath. Last home game for 9 seniors should be worth a few points. I don't think I have heard of a senior class that big on a basketball team in a long time. I will go SK by 4.
  15. SK, WV, SK I look for SK to put things together down the stretch. The Connely girl has been playing there for it seems like 6 years and I look for a good showing in the region as well.
  16. One of the better high school games I have seen this year. SK makes foul shots down the stretch and the game never goes to OT. The three officials who did the game are probably three of the better ones in the 8th region. I didn't really think the officiating was all that bad. Maybe I am used to watching the region's officials by now. The one call that I did struggle with was the slapping of the backboard by the Cov Cath kid when the SK player went up for a lay-up. That used to be a technical but for whatever reason, nothing was called. Is this not a T any longer? My thoughts on SK last night- Slavey and Layne should have gotten some confidence of running the point. Maegley (sp) needs to bottle that game and bring it come tourney time. Robinson and Dressman played like seniors nearing the end of their high school careers. Ponzer, Barns and Snyder get well quick.
  17. When I saw who was not playing for SK, I really wasn't sure that they would be able to keep it that close. SK freethrow shooting was dismal and for whatever reason, they couldn't come up with rebounds when they needed them. Pressure from Scott was effective without a true point guard for SK. It seemed to me that SK must have used 10 kids. If I am not mistaken, one player that played quite a bit had never played any varsity.
  18. I wonder if there will be. For whatever reason, the crowds for the games that I have been to this year have been down; especially the student sections. It will be interesting to see how this crowd is since it is a Friday night. My guess is it won't be real hard to find a seat since both teams aren't having as strong of years as they did in the past.
  19. Ankle- he was wearing a boot and is on crutches.
  20. Game was close early but then SK really struggled against the SC zone. I was expecting a exciting game but it really didn't go that way. (Maybe Shelby lauled everybody to sleep by not getting to SK until about 7:30.) Game went really quick. There were only a handful of fouls called in the first half and SK spent a lot of time passing the ball around the perimeter and not penetrating the zone. My feeling is the injuries have taken a toll on SK and the team really seemed to miss Ponzer tonight who looks like he has a bad ankle injury.
  21. If it is senior night, then you have to go with SK by 10.
