Simon Kenton 65 Walton Verona 39 (32nd District )

SK completely dominated from the beginning. They jumped out to 28-8 after the 1st quarter and coasted after that. Walton could not handle the SK pressure defense and had numerous turnovers that led to easy scores. SK pretty much did whatever they wanted to. Coach Stowers did a good job at not running-up the score by playing his bench alot of minutes. I was disappointed at the lack of effort from the Walton girls. It appeared that they wanted to be someplace else besides on the court with SK. SK has a very talented team and IMO will make some noise in the Regional Tournament. They are well coached and disciplined and know how to play the game. Congrats to SK on their victory.

The Walton team definitely didn't seem to bring much intensity. Maybe they were satisfied with moving on to the regional? Those expecting to see SK hit threes didn't get to see that part of the game as it seemed almost all of the SK points came off of wide open lay-ups.

I agree that Stowers did a nice job of not running up the score. They had 28 after one and could have easily kept up that pace for the rest of the game.

Did this suprise you?

SK is just a far superior team to WV. It is what it is, intensity or not.

Pretty much what was epected. Does anyone haveany stats?

Yes, based on previous posts from other threads. I thought they would come out at least looking like they wanted to play. Wrong! Their stay at the Regional Tournament will be short lived if they duplicate this performance. One and out.

There are no easy teams in the regional tournament. That may be the case anyway.

Congrats to SK, I am looking forward to seeing them play.

SK is fun to watch. They play hard and have the potential to represent the

8th Region.

I think they would do us proud in Bowling Green. Just disappointed that the Lady Bearcats didn't put up more of a fight. I really think they have the talent to play at a much higher level.

They have the talent, but they just didn't match up well in this game. SK too physical on defense, especially at the guards, for WV. Somebody that's content on playing half-court defense or a lot of zone, Walton could fare wll against. (Maybe against Owen??)

Congrats to SK, though. They came in and took care of business. Girls looked focused and ready to play in both games, taking nothing for granted. Should provide some interesting matchups in the regional. Imagine South Oldham vs. SK in the opening round!?!?!?

Congrats Simon.

Walton did seem to play with much heart, but we'll bounce back! Good luck to all teams in the Tournament!

I was not surprised. This has been a recurring theme with the W-V girls program that goes back well into the previous coaching staff.

What do you mean by "recurring theme"? Do you mean that W-V gets beat by teams that are bigger, strong and fasters than they are?? I don't think the previous coach would have had any solutions. District 32 --Scott County --Simon Kenton-What is the difference? All that the district change did was trade Scott Co. for Simon Kenton. They are still a few notches ahead of the other teams in the district.
