Big Men? Brock looked like a giant over there at 6'5". Big teams will likely cause a challenge for SK this year. Seriously though, SK does play hard and gets after it although they foul too much. Good group of seniors and the freshman class is outstanding; again, just wish there was some size. Pretty electric atmosphere at the game although the last two minutes went on for an hour. Great crowd on hand. Dixie student body was hilarious in their Christmas get-up. SK kid doing the dancing was just as funny.

Seniors, it was fun watching you play over the last few years. Looking forward to seeing some of you play on Saturdays!

The game was a good chance for the coaches to get messages to their teams and I think they were both successful: for Henley, it showed his team that they can't just show up and get another hunk of KHSAA walnut; for Humphrey, he coached to show his players that they have a chance to have a special season. IMO, game meant more to GRC; Henley was up even less than normal and Humphrey was up preaching the gap gospel the whole game.

Someone forgot to tell the teams that this was a preseason scrimmage. Game played above the rim and physical. A neat deal; huge crowd, game played hard the way it is supposed to be:

The SK boys playing on offense and defense both was a non-factor. I actually thought X was doing more bending over etc. and looked more fatigued, maybe it was just me and the X guys I was standing by. I thought going into the game that it the game would be close but that X would probably pull away in the second half because of this. Quite the opposite. I wish Miles could have been in there on that last drive to have mixed things up a little more. I agree; SK would have gone for two.

I didn't notice much about the AR on the team side but the Referee and the AR on the stand side were clearly in over their heads. The match definitely deserved better. You have to at least be able to keep up with the play- it isn't just about holding your flag in the correct presentation. Come on KHSAA! An awesome game to watch though. Congrats to both teams. Hate to see it come down to PK's but the saves by Heart Keeper, especially in the first half were unreal. Hope the Russo girl was OK.

I watched the game in the rain last night and in the comfort of my family room tonight. What a neat deal that Fox Sports Ohio puts on for high school football fans and the teams. Quite a production. They cleared out the bus garage for the satellite trucks, semis, crew parking etc. I hear that it took a crew of about 30 to put on the production. Good stuff and something that those kids will probably remember for awhile. Ironically though, the television coverage killed the gate receipts. I talked to several people who said they would have gone if the game hadn't been on television. Understand the local sports bar was quite busy. Gotta love Lap whether he is doing high school, Big 12 or Bengals. Was it me or does Miles look faster on television than he does in person?

I was at the game and didn't get the benefit of the replay but it looked like the first Ryle TD wasn't a TD as the QB was a couple of yards short. Anyone watch on television who can comment? Probably didn't make a difference because Ryle was near the goal line but you never know and SK has made a couple of nice goal line stands on the season.

#36 is Junior Austin Baldwin. I thought this one was going to be closer. It was apparent very early that it was going to be SK's night. Offense for SK was explosive but it was the defense that really was doing some hitting. The third quarter TD run by Simpson was unreal; how many times did he reverse fields. Nice win by SK but lots of football still.

Congratulations on your teammate award Lyndsay. You are definitely a student athlete who is a testament that those with passion can overcome sports injuries. Your ability to overcome not one but two ACL reconstructions was amazing.

The team introductions under the spotlights was more exciting than the game. No way I would have gone to one of the aforementioned gyms. IMO, there was nice atmosphere tonight with that many people watching a HS game. Traffic out of the place wasn't good but this may be the first stress test the arena has had.

You can't beat the place for atmosphere although the gym could use a facelift. You almost need a flashlight to find your seat the place is so dark. Scoreboard is 4 sided and hangs in the middle of the floor. The announcers are perched at the top in a plexiglass booth which it makes a little challenging to get fouls announced correctly.

Wow....don't get that one. That dude should have a KHSAA pass that gets him in to any high school basketball game he wants to attend. He has taken 10's of thousands of pictures of kids playing sports and preserved so many memories for all of us. My very favorite picture of my kid playing sports was taken by none other than Panda. Thanks for all the memories Panda man. Here's a picture of him. I guess we will still never know what he looks like since he is either behind his camera or wearing the Panda suit that he posted here the other day.

Absolutely love the arena. A first rate facility and a jewel for the community. Really kind of a neat thing that "we got it" when you think about it. I really think that our legislators who got this thing built had in mind that events like this would be held here. I have a feeling that the place will be rocking once you get past the first round games. If you think about it, there are lots of games at Rupp and Diddle in the Sweet 16 first round that lack atmosphere-however you want to define that. A game in an arena is going to feel different but it is definitely the place to hold these games. Lighting is fantastic, seating very comfy, awesome sound system, lots of room to not be on top of each other- definitely worth the extra $2 over what we had before. My two criticisms, 1. too many people with headphones and radios walking around looking for something to happen/fuss about. There were about 3 security types watching the Cru student section like they smuggled in who knows what. 2. get the bands in the stands if you want more atmosphere. After the tourney is over, someone needs to have a debrief session and rework a few things but I have to believe in a couple of years that there won't even be a debate. I would love to hear what the players who have participated in the tourney think.

The big guy was definitely the difference although the long floor started to work on him.
