Xs and Os Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I thought is was a success, but there area always things that can be improved? What do you think?
Clyde Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Putting the ball in the basket at a high pace would be nice.
Theoldguy Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 If you attended the games tonight, you couldn't have said anything but successful. Can you image how hot it would have been inside either Ryle, Conner or Holmes gyms tonight! The players would have been sliding all over the floor as they would have been soaking from the condensation. Had to be 8,500 fans in the stands tonight...

KY Buckeye Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Putting the ball in the basket at a high pace would be nice. As a 10th Region guy I still loved the 9th final, but this was well played.
Ranger Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 The team introductions under the spotlights was more exciting than the game. No way I would have gone to one of the aforementioned gyms. IMO, there was nice atmosphere tonight with that many people watching a HS game. Traffic out of the place wasn't good but this may be the first stress test the arena has had.

The BOKC did a nice job with introductions...dimming the lights, spotlighting the players, and also getting the fans up and involved during the introductions. I think after tonight both the 9th and 10th will agree that the BOKC is the place to hold the region semi's and title game. Tonight had to have been the biggest crowd ever to witness a 9th region title game. Not sure if there was 8500 there like TOG said, but there was every bit of 7000 there. The bottom horse shoe was 3/4 full and the upper arena was probably 1/3 to 1/2 full. It felt like a mini sweet 16 game.

Had to be 7,000 in the gym for game 2, maybe someplace in between your estimate of 7,000 and TOG's 8,500. Huge crowd, great atmosphere, a very well run night of basketball by the BOKC.
Henry Steele Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Arena was great - I think I would abandon the idea of importing 16th region referees next year. I don't want officials to determine an outcome of a game, but I would like to see them apply the rules. I'm funny that way.

Anyway, the Ninth Region coaches choose to switch refs every postseason lately. Has nothing to do with the venue.
drcomet Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Great game. Holmes played with alot of heart and they got things done. My congrats to Boone on a well played game. But in the end Holmes locked things up on D and Rico's clamp down defense took McFarland out of the game. Well done DAWGS.......
NKYSportsfan41 Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I thought that BOK put on a nice tournament. I sure that even the teams/players in the first round game had a great experience in a college arena. The mini sweet sixteen comment is right on. It's nice that we have a great facility in the area and it's nice to use it for such a big event in a high school basketball player's career. The only change I would make is to make the quarters and semis general admission seating and the finals assigned seating. I think this would allow for larger isolated cheering sections for each team involved and increase the atmosphere even when the arena has a few thousand people in it.
homeofthewhopper Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 (edited) Great place!!! How about a $1.00 menue!!!!! Edited March 11, 2009 by Ram Rule 13
