Simon Kenton 78 Dixie 70

Featured Replies

Simon Kenton started off strong leading after one 23-9. Dixie gained some ground and after three quarters trailed by three 52-49. The Colonels cut it to one and had a chance to take the lead but a Pike hook shot rimmed out. SK never trailed and were excellent down the stretch from the stripe finishing 12-14 in the final quarter. I don't have official stats but I believe SK had a nice edge on the boards but also turned the ball over quite a few times. SK has a nice nucleus of young talent and move to 2-0 on the season. Nice to see Mike Brock on the sidelines for the Neers, he can only help the SK big men improve.

Big Men? Brock looked like a giant over there at 6'5". Big teams will likely cause a challenge for SK this year.

Seriously though, SK does play hard and gets after it although they foul too much. Good group of seniors and the freshman class is outstanding; again, just wish there was some size.

Pretty electric atmosphere at the game although the last two minutes went on for an hour. Great crowd on hand. Dixie student body was hilarious in their Christmas get-up. SK kid doing the dancing was just as funny.

D-Series, did you attend the JV game? We have a 6'6" tranfer from Boone who looks like he can make a nice contribution down the stretch. This team is guard oriented but they have a very nice rotation of those. Rabe played some nice minutes and Gray is a wing but is very athletic. I have to say I'm very excited about this season, this team is much better than last season and we were a few Ft's away from being in the regional title game last season.

Is Sorrell a junior?

Who is the transfer?

SK has some nice talent coming up the ranks. I would expect them to be an 8th Region contender very soon.

I was not expecting this outcome at all. I was at the game and disappointed how Dixie played. SK had a great game and Dixie did not. However I will state the officiating was one of the worst I have seen in a long time. I do not believe referees win or lose games for teams, but I do believe they can play some role in the outcome. There were several , several questionable calls. Was anyone else at the game? Maybe there were things I didn't see that they could, but I was not impressed.

I agree that officiating can should not win or lose games for a team. You have to overcome. But, certainly they can have an impact on games. I attended the Dixie V. Conner game on Wednesday night and the officials were just awful there as well. That game was at Dixie.

Where was this game? If it was at SK, Dixie probably just got one back from the first game against Conner. If it was at Dixie... they need to look at the referee situation. So goes the season, both teams will be fine.

I saw that Matt Trammel dominated for Dixie. Yes, in a loss, but 24 pts and some 6 assists and 9 boards or something of that nature is. This kid has a bright future as just a junior and Dixie is headed in the right direction.

Brocks 6'7" so that could be why he looked like a giant, probably not many people taller than him in the building.

As for SK I'd heard that they had some good talent but that they were pretty young, really pretty impressive to see a young team play that strong down the stretch especially against a rival like Dixie.

Game was played at Dixie...I guess they better look into the refereeing!!

I was just wondering the same thing.

Was at both JV & Varsity games. The Refs were not good at all. In the JV game the Pioneer boys could not look at a Dixie player without getting called for a foul. They missed tons of walks, so forth. Even though they had different refs for the Varsity game it was definitely not a well called game. JV was down at half time and came out fired up second half and took over the game. Way to go Pioneers.
