Thats baseball 101, when your behind in a close game. Casey leads off the 2nd inning with a double, when the 3rd out is made he is still at 2nd base, they tried to bunt didnt get it down. Wiler leads off a inning with a single, Barker at the plate who can bunt and might beat one out but at least move runner up for hitters #2-3-4, we try to fake bunt and steal and get thrown out. By the way didnt we get beat on a bunt?

Disappointing end, something that should not be overlooked is how ALL of the seniors played in this game. Boyd only had 6 hits for the game and committed 0 errors...... Going down the lineup. Casey Branham- 2-4 with a double. Brad Blanton -1 hit,BB Odis Sturgill- good defense, came up in bunt situations and came thru. Greg Bowling- 1 hit,RBI, pitched good enough to win. Tyler Perkins - pitched good in both games he played, tough luck loss. Justin Moore-did not play in this game but, pitched great in 1st round game. There has been much discussion on coaching in this game the only thing that was VERY evident was Greenup was not going to let any of THESE guys beat them and they were pitched around, intenally walked and pitched to the next guy and such. These players never had a chance to hit when it really mattered. ( you must tip your hat to Greenups coaches for that). In the 2nd inning Boyd had the bases loaded and 2 outs with Casey Branham on deck, Greenup went right after the batter and struck him out on 4 pitches. Next inning Branham leads off the inning with a double. This was typical of how Boyds nite went thats when other players have to step up. There has been much discussion on Boyds future talent level. These players mentioned above have been their underclass men for the last 2 teams that went to Applebees. Seniors can lead but they cannot bat in every spot in the lineup. Congrats to Greenup, If you finish the job you are in for an unforgettable experience you will never forget. To the Boyd Co. seniors you got 2 tastes of something some kids will never get the chance to be a part of and you will remember the rest of your lives.

Truth of the matter on these post season awards from district, regional, all-area, type awards is how many they can pick from 1 team. If your fool around with this stuff they need to pick the best players even if they are from 1 or 2 teams, otherwise dont bother.

In the 2 previous posts it was said this situation was unique and rare, thats not the case the same thing happened last year when Ashland beat Rose Hill by the score of 21-0 if memory serves me right and I am pretty sure it does. That Rose Hill team was also no-hit. They also had 2 on tourny team, the losing pitcher was one. I remember the buzz and the same things being said then. It does not make any difference to me how they do these things, but it seems to cheapen the accomplishment of the award. JMO

Congrats to JC, they have a couple of the nicest pitchers around and at tourny time thats what its all about.

Who were the starting pitchers? Low scoring game both must have done well.

Boyd Co. #4 nice to see some luv outside of Lex. & Lou. Boyd Co. top 2 pitchers have only loss 1 time between them a 7-3 loss to Lex. Cath. at Harrison Co.:thumb:

Good win again for the Lions, Starting pitcher Logan Helms threw well and Brett Moore did also in relief. Boyd hit the ball well, a few of misplayed balls in the outfield kept this one close.

My son has a few wooden bats he likes to take BP with, I was tellin him one day about those wooden bats that used to have what looked like a corn cob on the handle. I use to love those.

JMO, But in a 5 team district as strong as the 57th is most every year it really should be seeded.

I would guess what would make this even debatable was the fact that you said the infield was pulled in. Thru the legs would be different than a smoked ground ball 2 0r 3 ft. on either side and a dive and no contact.

I would think the decline stoped and the turnaround began the past 2 seasons,( 15-11 & 15-12 ) and advancing to the region for the first time in a while. Boyd will return 3 starters and I hear 2 or 3 new kids may be coming out. And Zornes will definetly not be out worked or coached.:thumb: Short term there are 2 or 3 teams that look like they may have a pat hand, but in a school the size of Boyd Co. when there is renewed interest you never know what kind of an improvement they can make from year to year. Owens for example you add 2 or 3 players with half his talent and you have drasticly improved your talent level.

I heard Rose Hill has really improved lost in extra innings to Raceland. They could be a dangerous team.
