One of the wildest games I have ever witnessed in any sport...

 

4 hours and 12 minutes...

 

Morgan County had a 84 yard interception return in the bottom of the 7th inning to tie the game...well, actually they were down 15-9 going into the bottom of the 7th...both teams actually gave the game away about 5 different times a piece, but Morgan scrambled for 6 runs, 4 or 5 with 2 outs.

 

Morgan Co. had winning run to 3rd base on a couple of innings with only 1 out...but couldn't not get an extra 90 feet.

 

Was a thriller at all levels...both teams absolutely hit the daylights out of the baseball...looked more like a Class A Men's Softball game.

 

The score would usually indicate two bad baseball teams playing, but it really was not...you could tell both teams were drained physically but battled...I have no idea of how many clean base hits, doubles, and triples there were but I would imagine that both teams combined for well over 40 hits....I know Morgan County had 23 hits when they were at the 15 run mark.

 

Congrats to Lewis...get some rest...great season for Morgan Co. 22-11 and a boat load of talented players returning. They have areas of improvement but will be near the top of the 16th region I would believe. Outstanding job by 1st year head coach Brandon Evans.

I did not take the time to go see the cougars play this year but listened to the game yesterday evening from about the 4th inning on. It was unbelievable at the way that these young men would compete. Even down to the last out anyone listening or watching was expecting another base hit that would tie the game and send it to one more inning. It is a shame that someone had to lose, but it was a well earned win for the Lions and a tough loss for the Cougars. Yet each team can hold their heads high knowing that they gave the best effort they could give. I am proud of both teams.

On that last series Morgan should have ran the option to the wide side of the field.
