From a marketing standpoint, those guys with zero experience are obviously more valuable to the program than the assistants. If assistant coaches are unhappy with their pay, nothing is stopping them from quitting. They could always pick up a second job to earn some extra cash. Uber is almost always hiring in the larger cities.

I remember. It was a great game. They also narrowly escaped a 1 win Navy team yesterday… Same year different seasons though. The rosters may be similar to last seasons but Georgia seems to have something special going. They’ve dominated some really good teams this year. UC beat Norte Dame… When I don’t have a team to pull for, I love seeing David take down Goliath. I’d be all for UC upsetting one of the big boys.

I could see both getting in if Alabama beats Georgia in the SEC championship. I agree, no way a 2 loss team deserves to get in over an undefeated Oklahoma or Wake Forest team. Speaking of Wake, the ACC is down but is no one considering a possible spot for them ? Would the committee put in a 2 loss Alabama team over a 1 loss Michigan or Oklahoma? Alabama losing really threw a huge wrench in all this. They’re well respected by the committee and rightfully so. I personally hope they lose another one and eliminate themselves. I’ll take a stab at it. 1.Georgia 2.OSU 3.UC 4.Oklahoma

Most years we’ve argued over the 4th team in. There’s heavy debate on 2,3 and 4 this year. I like it.

Does Alabama at 3 mean they have to win out or hope for a Oklahoma loss? If they play Georgia close in the SEC championship will a 2 loss SEC team get in ? Either way, I feel like the conference championship games are going to be as important as ever this year.

Staying at #2 is huge for UC. They’ve got a little breathing room now. Georgia, Bama, UC and the winner of the Big 10 would be a really entertaining playoff for me. I don’t see UC having a realistic chance of staying at #2 even if they win out. They’ll likely get obliterated by Georgia or Bama in the playoffs but I still want to see them get a shot.

I’m hoping someone can get them. They’re the most underwhelming of the 4 IMO.

As long as Bama doesn’t upset Georgia in the SEC championship, I think they’d be ok at 3. At #2, they controlled their own destiny for the most part. At #3, they’re at the mercy of a lot of other good programs.

Dabo to LSU makes zero sense to me. Unless the guy is just wanting to challenge himself, he’s got it made with Clemson in the ACC. If I were a LSU fan I’d want some clarity on his comments about paying players and the new NIL deals. You don’t have to like the game this way but you better embrace it or you’ll be left behind.

If UC drops to 4, they probably have no chance at getting in. I’m not sure they have much of a chance at 3. I’m hoping they stay at 2 next week to give them a little wiggle room.

Exactly. This is why I’m so excited for the expanded playoffs. Currently, a team like UC needs to not only win every game, but apparently cover the spread also. It was an ugly win, but still a win. They shouldn’t be penalized anymore than any of the other big boys who have had close ones this season.

A $250000 dollar fine does little to nothing. UT should use every resource they have to identify those involved and ban them from all athletic events for life. Maybe even use legal avenues against the fans to recoup some of that $250000. You won’t catch them all but you’ll identify plenty enough to send a message. If people see fans being banned for life and taken to court for damages, they’ll all fall in line.

I’m not informed enough to share that opinion I suppose. I believe he resigned based on his racist/homophobic/sexist comments. If we look through the lyrics of any hip hop artist who has preformed on behalf of the NFL in the last 10 plus years, we’d find much worse.

And I can assure you, I’m no SEC homer. I’m a UK fan these days. That’s about it. The SEC is the best conference in football and has been for some time now. To think that doesn’t make you a “fan”. To think otherwise makes you an idiot.

We disagree and that’s ok. I think UC fans over value their position. That’s it. You’re closer to the program. You would know more than I do. He’s a great coach and he won’t coach long, if at all in the new BIG in my opinion.

I don’t think becoming a millionaire is that big of a deal. Keeping the millions coming in when you’re accustomed to the lifestyle is where the pressure comes in…

I agree, UC will be a much better job when they join the Big 12. They’ll still be in a conference on the decline. They’ll still be in a conference begging for respect. They’ll still be in a conference that any coach with higher aspirations would leave in a heartbeat.

I get it. We all have a little homer in us. Fick will leave for the first school he believes will advance his career. UC isn’t a destination job and honestly probably never will be. It is what it is… He’s done well enough at UC to be extremely selective in his next job, but he will have a next job. His wife and children will adjust to the next town just fine…

This is where I’m at. UC fans seem to believe that Fick will only leave for OSU. Even with the recent success, UC isn’t a great job simply based on conference affiliation. If any SEC job opens up, he’ll consider it. He’d consider any high profile job. I’d wager he’ll move on to greener pastures in the next year or two. It doesn’t matter what his wife thinks. He can make more money at a school that expects to be in the playoffs vs. one who has to beg to be included.

I’m not big on moral victories, but this is one of them… 14-7 at half and 2 touchdowns scored on a historically great UGA team gives me a lot of hope for the rest of the season.

I’m all for Gruden being let go. He said some stuff he shouldn’t have said. That’s enough evidence for me. I do find it ironic that the NFL has decided to give Dr. Dre, Eminem and Snoop Dogg the honor of preforming at halftime of the Superbowl this year. I’m sure if we comb through their lyrics, we can find much worse than what Gruden said…
