  1. I agree. If we’re being honest, this should really only affect men’s basketball and football…. Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields could have made great money. I don’t believe the center or the punter should be entitled to a dime of that. Just because Anthony Davis or John Wall could have made a nice paycheck for themselves doesn’t mean the walk-on at the end of the bench or the point guard on the women’s team deserves the same. This is why I don’t believe the schools should have a hand in the actual paying of players. Let all the money come from outside business. Let the kids do commercials, run camps, sign shoe deals or get paid from various forms of social media. Tons of outside revenue sources for the athletes to take advantage of without the school having to directly pay them.
  2. If the season started today, I like the roster… I said I like our roster last year minus Askew and we won 9 games so what do I know…
  3. I’m a gun owner. A responsible gun owner. Mass shootings get clicks. Mass shootings sell newspapers. Gun control needs to be reformed. I’ve said for years that anyone who feels the need to own a gun should be allowed to. It should be a real pain in the behind to get one though… We need to address other issues first. You’re more likely to be killed by a drunk driver than you are to be killed by a gun. Drug overdoses are killing people at a 3 to 1 rate compared to guns. If the end game is the number of deaths, we should put our efforts towards a few other things before guns.
  4. I’m a little too drunk to fully articulate my thoughts on the matter. I’m pro gun. I’ve got a glock 19 and a S&W 357 in a small safe 10 feet from me right now. At a minimum, a gun should be as difficult to obtain as a drivers license. If you want one, you should be able to have one. There should be a ton of hoops to jump through to qualify.
  5. I agree. 6 teams is the perfect number. It allows for a stronger conference to have 2 teams in if needed and allows for the weaker conferences to get an undefeated team in.
  6. I like crawfish more than shrimp. They’re a little pricey for what you get but it’s not something you can find locally. I’d honestly consider them more of an appetizer or snack. I’d be embarrassed to guess how many pounds I would need to consider them a meal.
  7. Get a trolley pass. They are just a few dollars a day and will be worth it especially in July.Take the trolley through the Garden District. The houses are beautiful. Theres a place called Saints and Sinners on Bourbon Street that had great crawfish if you like them. I wouldn’t really really recommend much else on the menu but the crawfish were some of the best we had during our trip.
  8. We’ve been 3 times. Absolutely love New Orleans. Be prepared for brutal heat in June.... Bourbon Street is what it is...A bunch of bars. I like to get drunk so I’ve always enjoyed it. The street performers make the area a lot of fun. Jean Laffite’s Blacksmith Shop towards the end of Bourbon is my top choice. As for restaurants in the French Quarter, it’s hard to go wrong. Oceana Grill, Mr Ed’s, Acme Oyster House and Dragos have always been favorites of mine. Ernst Cafe is a bar close to Harrahs. When we were there in February, they had $2 bottled beer all day. Insanely cheap beer for New Orleans. You’ll pay $5+ everywhere else you go. I’d skip Cafe Du Monde. A 30 minute line for a powdered doughnut...
  9. Alcatraz was my favorite part of our time in SF. It wouldn’t be worth the time for the exterior only. The Golden Gate didn’t do much for me.
  10. The only reason Askew was on a college roster this year was because Cal thought he had Cunningham locked up. That didn’t pan out and he had to ask Askew to reclassify. Kid should have been playing high school ball this year...
  11. To be fair, I know nothing about Hubert Davis. He very well could be the next John Wooden. I’d love to know if they contacted Billy Donovan. I’ve always wondered if he’d come back to the college ranks for a few teams. I have to wonder how happy he is without Westbrook and Durant.
  12. I agree on Few. He’s not leaving Gonzaga. I wouldn’t consider Cronin a huge name yet. Sampson was probably never in contention because of his age. I see no reason why UNC couldn’t lure Drew away from Baylor though. They may have contacted a number of coaches who wouldn’t accept. None of us know. I think it was assumed by most that they would hire a UNC guy. That seems silly to me.
  13. Good luck to Askew. Cal has continued to recruit guards. I’m sure he saw the writing on the wall. I would have liked to see him stay and compete for one more year. He’s young. Have we had more kids from the West Coast transfer than we’ve had stay in the last ten years ?
  14. If they were 100% committed to keeping it in the UNC family, then they didn’t have a ton of hot coaches to choose from. Absolutely foolish to me. I don’t care if the next UK coach can point out Kentucky on a map. Hire the best available no matter what coaching tree he comes from.
  15. This should be a great game. I really have no idea who wins. If it’s a tight game, I like Gonzaga. If they come out flat though, Baylor won’t let them back in it. Baylor 86 Gonzaga 78
  16. Agreed. Pay the man or let him finish out the contract that both parties agreed to. Actively looking for reasons to fire a coach is a terrible look for the entire athletic department.
  17. Agreed. At UK, UNC, Duke and Kansas “suitable” means winning 25+ games a year and elite 8s at a minimum are the expectation.
  18. I’d imagine UNC already has a replacement lined up. I don’t think Roy would leave them in this type of shape with the transfer market the way it is.
  19. Really happy for Juzang. Gonzaga shouldn’t have much trouble with UCLA. I thought Bama and Michigan would both send them home though. Down 1 and then down 2 with under a minute left and we see 3 shots from deep to end the game. Get the ball in the lane. Nothing wrong with trying to get to the free throw line and play for overtime. I just don’t get it...
  20. I’ll take Ashland in a close one. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rowan win though. It all comes down to if the three ball is falling for Ashland.
  21. I’ll say Beard or Mussleman. For some reason I just don’t see Scott Drew taking the job.
