I'm hoping Estill draws Jackson City myself, or JBS.

I'm happy to see Reese and Puckett get some recognition. Man they played their hearts out during the tourny - and I'm proud to have a couple guys like them on my team going into region.

A classic - pure and simple. Estill led at the end of the first. Lee led at the half. Tied at the end of the third - and then of course the thrilling end. There were of course botched calls as per usual with 14th officials - but it wasnt overwhelming one way or the other. I dont understand why Rich was named MVP - he was shutdown all night long. Fetters won the game for Lee over all - Rich just hit two free throws with around a second and a half to go. Hats off to Lee though. There team is extremely talented and while Coach Wright absolutely gets under my last piece of skin - he is a good coach. I also like the Lee fans - they were very respectable. Anybody who was at this game tonight should very easily see how these two teams could very well meet again in a regional championship.

Interesting to see....as we now know the 8 teams that will be going to Hindman how do you see the bracket playing out. If I were choosing today (tomorrow would depend on if Estill beats Lee or if Leslie beats Hazard) this is how my 14th bracket would look. Hazard vs. Wolfe Jackson City vs. Estill Lee vs. Leslie June Buchanan vs. Cordia What do you think?

Its too tough to choose a team playing in Memorial Gym that isnt Hazard. I have got to go with the bulldogs.

I'm surprised to hear about Gilbert losing his head like this. Not the way an experienced college bound senior should be acting. Regardless - sounds like a tough game. I would say these are 2 of the teams that one would want to play in the first round of regionals.

But not one that qualifies for a thread on BGP.

I've always found it hard to pick an overall best player. If youre talking most dominant youd probably go with Tyler Rich. Smartest with or without the ball - Dixon. Best Scorer - Gilbert. Most Valuable to his team - Hicks. Gilbert won and I can be content with that.

I think either team could still go on to win the region, win or lose. I really feel these are the two best teams. On a neutral court - I think they take Hazard and Leslie.

Lee is extremely tough in Beattyville - but let me tell you...if the same Estill team that played in Beatyville Wednesday comes plus a hot shooting Berryman (who had a rare off game against Powell) - the Bobcats could very well be in trouble.

That's a good question Professor. Mysteryman should be ashamed for putting some managers above others. I say that any manager who makes an attempt to help their team should be praised...we shouldnt be wasting time discussing such things. What a waste of time, Mysteryman.

The key to this game is obviously going to be how effectivelly Estill can shut down Tyler Rich without opening up capable shooters like Fetters, Taulbee, and the twins. I thought that Dixon did a pretty good job of shutting down Rich in the game at Beattyville - but during this - it set up the shooters who were up to their game and delivered for the bobcats. It will be interesting to see that if Estill can shut down Rich - will Lee's shooters be able to deliver...and if the fire that Estill played with against Powell will continue to burn tomorrow night.

This Engineer team has proved all year long that they do not concede to any team - especially in the 56th district championship game. This team knows how to play from behind - just ask Jackson City. :thumb:

I dont believe he's hurt - I think he just may have had one of his weaker games shooting wise. I thought he made some good hustles though. It was a good time for him to get his shooting woes out of the way - we'll need him lighting it up Friday night.

I'm not so sure the win was as much a surprise as how well Estill played from start to finish. Most expected Powell to be a test for the Engineers and they probably were for a quarter and a half or so - but they were just ran off the court in the 2nd half.

It's not a huge shock seeing as though Henry Clay was playing arguably the state's best team....but still doesnt sit well with me that a team like Henry Clay doesnt get to even go to regions, and a player like Dunaway ends his career here...but oh well, its how the game is played.

Did they? I rememeber it being 9-9 within maybe 30 seconds of the first quarter. Estill jumped off to a big lead and Powell came storming back...but that was about the end of their fire power tonight....other than cutting the 20+ lead to 9 before going back down again by 20 there at the end of the game.

Let's hear those predictions. Should be a huge game - with a huge turnout. Estill played the best game that Ive seen them play all year tonight against Powell and the Estill crowd was absolutely insane. These two teams are still my pick to make it to the region final - and If the same Estill team that ran Powell County back to Stanton plays against Lee - I have trouble seeing Lee pull off a 4th win. My prediction. Tonights Estill team wins by 8 to 10. The Estill team that was beaten by Breathitt loses by 20 to 25. I dont see Estill losing focus now - or Lee backing off. This should be a classic. :thumb:

Its going to be interesting to say the least...and I really hope we see a Hazard/Estill game at some point.

I would have thought JBS would have pulled a bigger win than this one. You can see by the score there probably wasnt much defense. Cordia should be a true test.

This should be an intense game - but I see Knowles carrying the Cards in this one. Clark County BIG...yeah I called it here. Living it on the edge.

Not sure if he was there or not....but if he was sitting on the Estill side - chances are...he was very much into it. Man were they into this game. :flame:
