14th Region Softball Teams

Featured Replies

What teams are in for a rough ride this year? What players from each position are going to have to step up there game to help lead there team?

I am guessing that the Estill County team that finished fourth last year will be moving into the 14th region this year as they did in other sports. I'm sure they should be a force in a weaker region.

Hazard always has a good softball team and are always considered to be among the best in the region. Also, this year I see Leslie County coming on strong. They have everyone back and some really good players. I really don't know that much about Estill, if anyone has any info on them it would be greatly appreciated.

Estill returns most of the lineup from their 4th in state team from last year which also won the 10th region title.

They have a couple players, Senior Amanda Hymer and Junior Brooke Reynolds who took home the "all-state" title last year.

Thanks for the info!

Sounds like Estill will definitely be the team to beat!

1. Estill County...10th region champs '05 (4th in state)

2. Hazard...14th region champs '05

3. Letcher Central... Whitesburg regional semi's, Letcher lost in first round

4. Breathitt County...always has a solid team, well coached

5. Powell County...regional runner-up

6. Lee County...always has a solid team, well coached

Another great fact to know is that estill only lost one player by the name as Victoria Witt and still have a great pitcher who won more games than her last year. Hazard watch out. This will be a great region to watch.

O another note Witt is now playing for georgetown college.....impressive uhh

I agree Hazard should have a good team again and also with Leslie, this team only lost to Hazard 1-0 in the district tournment last year with Hazard scoring their only run in the bottom of the seventh . Leslie does return all starters except for one and also picked up some additional ammo that should boost their team tremendously.

Anyone know if Estill and Hazard play this year?

That should be an incredibly intense game.

It appears to me, based on what they have coming back, and how they finished last season, that Estill County is the top team in the region this year.

Its going to be interesting to say the least...and I really hope we see a Hazard/Estill game at some point.

I've seen Estill play against Bracken several times, and those girls know how to play! They should fare very well this year...Keep your eye on Powell County...lots of youth, but they have numbers...and they are ready to get goin'...Good Luck Ladies...hey smoothie!;)

I agree Estill, Hazard, Letcher Central, Breathitt, Leslie, Lee and Powell are the top teams this year. Estill is the clear favorite

Hazard has all 9 starters back from last year. They have won the 14th the last 4 out of 5 years.
