  1. Jeff Reynolds is the coach at Air Force.
  2. I'm not sure if you meant anything by that but it's almost funny.
  3. I agree that it would have been nice to get help eleswhere, but Miller is a smart player. It wasn't coincidence that he contuined to drive on Setty's side. That goes back to my orginal post, you have to play the percentages in that situtation. Don't get me wrong, Wireman, I understand what your saying as well but with Miller's athleticism it would have been hard to get help from the weak side in time to do any good. To the defense of you assesement, Wireman, this obviously didn't work either but I think that giving Miller a for sure two is worse than Setty taking a three that has a 50% chance, at best, of going in.
  4. IMO, you do have to help off of Miller, no matter who is helping. When your a heavy underdog like Elliott County was you kinda have to play the percentages. Would you give Miller a 100% two points, because once he got to the basket there was nothing Elliott County could do to stop him nor was there anything Elliott could do to stop him from getting to basket with just one man, or give Setty a three and let him hit one of two, if he does shoot 50%. Just to prove my point, if Setty shoots two 3's and Miller shoots two lay-ups, by the percentages your giving up 3 points by helping and 4 points by not helping. I think you have to take your chances with Setty hitting those 3's opposed to Miller shooting lay-ups, JMO. :thumb:
  5. :thumb: Just because Elliott County players understand the game and have the expierence to know how to handle adverse sistutaions doesn't mean Coach Mays is a bad coach.
  6. So it will probably go something like the 10th region championship, right?
  7. I think there is no doubt that Coach Mays has led Elliott County to those accolades. With all the distractions surrounding Elliott County's team this year, how many coaches could have held this team together the way he has and put them in the position they are in tonight? My guess is, not many.
  8. In the last 3 years Coach Mays has led Elliott County to a Class "A" regional title, 2 runner-up finishes in the EKC confrence, a EKC confrence title, 3 straight district titles, 3 straight regional finals appearances, 1 regional title, and a quarterfinals appearance in the state tournament. Just a little information to add to the aurgement.
  9. They showed a highlight of him hitting one of those 3's on ESPN.
  10. The game has been postponed again until Tuesday night.
  11. The Chargers closed with a 14-3 run in the final 1:39 to win it. Thomas Jackson had 20 points to lead the Chargers. Nick Gagel (17 points), Tim Jackson (16) and Richard Kennedy (10) also had big nights. Aaron Williams scored 21 points to lead the Crimsons.
  12. If I'm mistaken, Coach Breeden is at Owensboro.

  14. Ev Faulkner 21pts Ferguson 19pts Et Faulkner 16pts Jacob Ferguson led Russell with 14.
  15. You are paying to see two varsity basketball games, which would probably cost around $10 if they were played on seperate nights.
  16. East Carter and Elliott County would be opposite the bracket in the regional tournament if both teams were to make it. The only way they could match up would be in the finals. That goes for any other district teams as well.:thumb:
  17. Ferguson 25 T Knipp 20 C Knipp 15 Ev Faulkner 14 Et Faulkner 12
  18. Where I agree 100% that this Elliott County team could benefit from playing some of the better teams down state, that would probably eventually hurt the program at Elliott County. You have to keep in mind that EC is a very small school and teams like this don't come around every year. That being said, in order to schedule other teams outside the region, they would have to drop area teams off thier schedule. When you drop a team from your area because you are superior in talent, alot of times that is like a slap in the face to that school. Then when you aren't so good and your trying to make a schedule you can be competitive in, these schools aren't so anxious to pick you back up. So Coach Mays has to be careful with how he works his schedule because the big picture has to be looked at sometimes. Elliott's schedule has produced some challenging games and those games will benefit them down the road.:thumb:
  19. Scooter Charles is the most underrated offical in the 16th region.
  20. Really impressive showing tonight. I thought Shae Ferguson was the difference tonight. While she scored below her 20+ ppg average, she was East Carter's main focus on defense which allowed her teammates to shine. Passed very well and stayed poised while facing constant pressure the whole game. Elliott Co shot the ball very well while East Carter show a low percentage. East Carter contiuned to settle for 3's instead of attacking the basket or going inside to the big girl when their shots were not falling. Overall I thought that is was a complete team effort as you can tell by placing 5 players in double figures. Elliott Co was very, very impressive in how they won this game and look to be shaping up at the right time. Good to see Jhonda step up and make some shots when called upon. She is a very good role player and probably the best defender on the team. Elliott Co really dominated the game from start til finish. 20-6 first quarter that was cut to 2 at halftime. Elliott came out of the half with what I think was a 13-0 run to push it to 15 and the lead never go below 6 the rest of the way.
  21. I think the main reason Elliott Co played their starters for most of the game in because 2 years ago Coach Mays had a team go to Lewis Co and was in a situation that was close to this one. Up 30+ points going into the 4th quarter and he subs his starters out of the game. Lewis Co goes on a huge run and cuts the lead to within 10 points. Same type of Lewis Co team that was put on the floor tonight. Good shooter that can run off points in a hurry.
  22. I do believe I said "by no means do I believe Grace Academy is as good as Scott Co." Just stating that a record can sometime be decieving using Scott Co. for an example. Grace was a pretty solid team which could win a few regions in KY. Wether is is a quality win is debatable, I say yes.
  23. Even though thier record is 7-7, they were still a pretty good team. Scott County is 8-7, but still ranked 3rd in the state according to this poll. Now by now means am I saying they are as good as Scott, but I would like to consider this a "quality win" for Elliott County.
