Plato Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I like these on ESPN so I thought there might be some opinions we could offer on BGP... I'll get us started: Stock Up Arrez Henderson's Defense - Holding Slone and Sanford to sub par games was key to Holmes success. Stock Down Arrez Henderson's Jumper - He passed up a LOT of open shots during the tournament and allowed Darius to basically play a one man zone in the finals. I don't remember him passing up open shots in the state tournament last year. Stock Up Darius Miller - as if his stock needed to go up, he was the most dominant player and stepped up his game in the times they needed him most. Stock Down The KHSAA. as if their stock could go down any more. Stock Up Corsages (spelling?) - The Greenwood staff brings back a classic fashion. Stock Down Coaches wearing polo shirts - Big Al needs a blue blazer. Stock Up Dunks - Hopson's was sweet. Darius had several, but the one on the out-of-bounds play was quite impressive. Holmes had several nice dunks. Stock Down Tournament scheduling - Did it really have to coincide with Easter weekend? Stock Up Elliott Co. - lots of us (including me) thought they had no chance, but they gave the Royals all they wanted. Stock Down Louisville Reps - both 6th and 7th out in the first round. That doesn't happen often. Stock Up The Hyatt Lobby - a consistant joy of the weekend. You never know who you'll see there. Stock Down Redmons - They closed before midnight on Wednesday and on Friday night Larry didn't even play! Boo. Please be nice with the stock down postings so the thread doesn't get closed!:thumb:
FB15G8 Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Stock Up: Arrez Henderson - his overall performance Slone - nice shooter The Coach for Holmes. He did a nice job. Lexington and Rupp - first class showing Stock down: UHA big man struggles - played average at the big show Mason Co 3 pt. shooting - went cold all day/night on Saturday Tournament scheduling - while I hate a Sunday final.....the game has simply gotten too physically demanding to be fair to both teams. For instance, Holmes was spent in the final. They burned it all coming back against Lex Cath.

So you put Settys stock down because he didn't score a lot in the title game,No way Holmes focused there D to make sure Setty didn't get all those open 3s he been getting.Without Settys sharp shooting in the Elliott game and other 2 Mason is out.He does so much more than just score and he did all those other things Saturday night.
Mustang Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Stock Down - Presenting the third place trophies/awards immediately following the conclusion of the semi-finals game. The losers were in no mood to sit around after a tough loss, wait for the KHSAA to set up the presentation and then look happy about just getting eliminated from the state tournament. Keep the 3rd place presentations where they always have been in the past, at halftime of the championship game, where they can be duly recognized and are in a better frame of mind to receive their accolades.

I agree. Let the players and coaches cool off for a few hours and bring them back for the championship game. I didn't like the new method of recognizing the all-tournament game, awarding them their plaque after they were eliminated. It means that the all-tournament spots are slotted (three for the finalists, two for the semfinalists and one for first-round winners) and that doesn't necessarily recognize the right players. I understand that the KHSAA likes to see all-tournament players recognized in front of their fans, but I still don't like the process.
greendevil Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I liked the All tournament team recognition after the game, but didn't like the third place presentation after the game.
BGElite Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Stock ups will be determined by who gets free rides to colleges and what schools offers. Stock down will be just the opposite of stock ups.
greendevil Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Stock Up Elliot County 08/09- They showed they can play with a top team. Elijah Pittman-From JV to State All Tourney Team Vee Sanford-IMHO, he may have been the most impressive player all around until Saturday morning. Stock Down Region 4-7 Reps- Didn't have the horses or didn't play to expectations.
ChiefSmoke Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Stock Up- Theguru for looking out for kids. His stock was already high with me. :thumb:

Plato Posted March 24, 2008 Author Posted March 24, 2008 Stock Up The East/West All-Star Game. A great way to spend the time between the semi-finals and finals. Transy's facility is really nice and there was a good crowd there. Several college coaches in attendance to watch.
greendevil Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 :thumb: Stock Down: Hopson...Didn't really show me alot. I'll second the motion...
bigblueinsanity Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Stock Up: 8th Region and how they did at state.
