  1. Because if kids arent ready for varsity basketball, then they arent ready. No one but the coaches and players see what goes on in practice everyday to evaluate whether other kids should dress varsity or not. Coach Mays has been at this a long time, and he knows who should be on his varsity basketball team. He isnt going to put a kid in a game just for him to be embarrassed. They use the JV and freshman games to try and develope the younger kids games and to try and prepare them for varsity basketball.
  2. I heard Fuller isn't playing any longer. Is there any truth to this?
  3. Good post, sportsfan. Cov Cath's defense did play alot into alot of the shots Elliott County missed, but some shots were wide open and they just couldnt knock them down. Congrats to Cov Cath on the win, they earned it. Good luck the rest of the season.
  4. Keith Center probably played 6-7 minutes in crucial parts of the game. IMO, thats quality minutes. And I am not trying to take anything away from Cov Cath, great defensive effort but Elliott Co did have alot of open shots that didnt fall that they normally hit.
  5. 8 players played quality minutes tonight, the shots just didnt fall for Elliott County.
  6. Grace Academy features 6'10" Liberty Commitment Carter McMasters. He is a 3 star recruit according to Rivals and is a very good player. He is a Euro type player that looks as if he has modeled his game after Dirk. Very good shooter and overall great player. Will be a tough matchup for anyone.
  7. Henderson is, I believe, the biggest school in the state, student wise. They should have a pretty good team led by senior Josh Terry, who is averaging 25+ ppg.
  8. Elliott County would actually play a team from Tenessee if they were fortunate enough to get past the first round and then would play Cov Cath is both teams win thier first two games. But you are right, no game is a guarantee with the quality of teams in this tournament.
  9. I think two teams that could make a run in this tourney that not many people are giving credit to are Christan Co. and Cov Cath. Both very solid teams. Christan Co. does not have a good record but have played one of the toughest schedules in the state. Cov Cath had already knocked off Lex Cath once this year and are a very dangerous team.
  10. Has Crawford started playing again?
  11. They play in the 5/3rd tourney next week. That is as close at they get to Northern Ky.
  12. Elliott didnt have Timmy Knipp in the AAU state tournament. Everyone knows what he brings to the table, espically defensively.
  13. As 6th graders they had a 26-0 season without the likes of the Knipp brothers or Ferguson. The Knipps were not enrolled at the school yet and Ferguson had not yet got serious about basketball. As 7th graders, they were 32-0 capped off by a BCI sponsered state championship. Ferguson, by then, was a major part of their success as were the Knipp brothers. Most of the players have been playing varisty or junior varisty ball since the 7th grade.
  14. Elliott picks up their 7th win of the season against their first top 25 foe. Jon Morgan gave Elliott a huge lift off the bench in the 2nd half. Ferguson 30 Ev Faulkner 26 Et Faulkner 11
  15. Coming into tonight he was averaging 26.8.
  16. Final from Sandy Hook. Ferguson 24 Ev Faulkner 22 Et Faulkner 18 Clemons 13
  17. Elliott's schedule will be more demanding very soon, starting Saturday when they play Christian County.
  18. Last time I checked, it wasnt your call on what Elliott County players are on the floor at what time. EC is doing what they think it takes to better themselves every game in trying to prepare themselves for anothner trip to Rupp Arena, weather you approve of how they do it or not.
  19. If the Boyd County posters want to call Elliott County classless, then try and defend what Boyd County's coach did last year in that JV game(see post #31 for details). Now Elliott County might play some starters when they are up until EARLY in the fourth quarter even if they are winning handily, but that was about as low as I have ever witnessed(and yes I did witness it).
  20. He could be talking about what happened last year in the JV game. Elliott County's JV was up somewhere around 30 starting the 4th quarter. With about a minute into the 4th, the Elliott coach pulls all the starters out and send them to the locker room to dress for the varsity game. Boyd starters were also out at this time. When the starters from Elliott were sent to the locker room, Boyd's coach reenters his starters and calls on a full court press. Now I am not 100% sure on this but I think Boyd won the game. If not, Elliott won by less than 5 but I am pretty sure Boyd ended up winning.
  21. Center, Maynard-Seniors Faulkners, Ferguson, Chris Knipp, Jonathon Morgan-Juniors Freshman-Timmy Knipp Jared Flanery(junior) and Cody Nickel(freshman) also are in the 10 man rotation.
  22. http://scoreboard.12dt.com/scoreboard/khsaa/kybbk07?id=spec_3687 go there
  23. They played twice last year and Selby didnt have a double-double either game. It could happen tomorrow night, but I dont think its a given. Elliott does have three tough games this week though, starting tomorrow night. Good luck to both teams.
  24. They start 4 juniors and a freshman. They bring 2 seniors and a junior off the bench.
