Notre Dame Academy vs Highlands Tuesday at 6pm
I'm not real thrilled with the teams not being able to get inside the arena to practice. There will be an adjustment in shooting into a basket where there isn't much of a backdrop. An hour shoot around, I don't care when it is would help.

Newport Central Catholic 51 Highlands 45
Hats off to you NC! My favorite NC player Bartels was tough last night! I thought the bright spot for the Birds was Towles to Cutter in the second half. Both of them played really well together. Sandfoss's dribble penetration was the difference maker in the game. I would love to see both in the Championship game at Kentucky Bank Arena. The 36th may wind up being the best district in the region.

Highlands vs. Newport Central Catholic (36th District Championship)
Highlands is probably a little more balanced. It will be an entertaining game.

Holmes 45 Holy Cross 24
As far as the Highlands incident goes I was told that the Highlands Coach may have said something reflecting negatively on his shooting ability during the game. I think the young man just reacted. Though he probably shouldn't have said anything, I'll have to give him that one.

Holmes 45 Holy Cross 24
I thought it was 31 for Holmes and not 34. Anyway both need to carry themselves more professionally on the court. They'll face substantive people and players soon who won't be fazed by the drama. I couldn't agree more about R. Johnson. I would take him and his brother into battle with me any day.

Holmes 45 Holy Cross 24
I went to the Holmes game tonight hoping to see Holmes start kicking it in gear. Quite honestly I didn't see that at all. They're fortunate they played Holy Cross tonight. This is not the same team (right now) that waxed Scott County earlier in the year I don't care what anyone says. This team’s ultimate success will rise and fall on the back of its most substantive player, Ricardo Johnson.

9th region: Tournament Predictions and Outlook
You exalt our seniors with patronizing comments about their talents in one breadth and then qualify those statements it in the next with the lack of experience bit. Are you perhaps trying to get a rift started amongst Highlands’s supporters? You’ve recently used these tactics with divisive comments about a Highlands player's minutes being squeezed. You ended that post with, “I don’t have an ax to grind.” It sounds as if Paul Bunyan wouldn't be big enough to carry your ax. Anyway I think it's going to be a great tournament with some exciting finishes.

9th region: Tournament Predictions and Outlook
My gosh, when should have they won the regional tournament with the exception of maybe last year. Are you suggesting two years ago Highlands’s fans thought they were going to win the regional tournament? I don’t think many were picking them over Notre Dame. I personally thought they should have won it last year, but you make it sound as if this team has not lived up to the expectations. Anyone familiar with this team or with girls’ basketball in Northern Kentucky would tell you that this is their year. They're 14-0 in the region. I would say that anything short of a regional championship this year and your post has merit. You also state they don't play well at tournament time. They've won their district tournament the last two years as freshman and sophomores. Their freshman year they were up by 7 against Notre Dame at the half in the regional semi-finals. If you're stating they don't seem to play well at tournament time based on the lost to Conner last year then please articulate that a little more clearly.

I whole heartedly agree!

9th region: Tournament Predictions and Outlook
I like Highlands’s chances. They are very solid and if they play like they're capable they should win it. This will be no cake walk, (no pun intended) and I would expect most games to be very competitive.

I thought Notre Dame really needed this win to get some momentum going into the upcoming tournaments.

North Hardin 61 Highlands 55
Hello Athena, I'm sure GPFAN was talking about the refs. The only one that mentioned the mediocre play of your division one studs as you call them was you. I believe Highlands handled Iroquois without a problem, though their best player did not play. The Dunbar game was competitive and the loss to Manuel was by about 20. The AAU team that most of the younger players on Highlands play for waxed your girls this summer in Lexington. So to say that Highlands was lucky to keep it close is not really accurate. You have a good team not a great team. I still say for the last time that your team was fortunate to win Saturday and should be thankful for what were in my opinion three incompetent officials and that the moon and the stars were all perfectly aligned. Maybe we will meet in Bowling Green and can have coke and laugh this off. May you have continued success!

St. Henry has played two quality games against two top 20 schools within the last couple of weeks. Watch out for them!

North Hardin 61 Highlands 55
Well Athena, let's look at schedules. All of the following are ranked in the top 20 BGP recent poll and are teams that Highlands has played or scheduled this year. Iroquois: Scrimmage game. Current Rank #1 Dunbar: Scrimmage game. Current Rank #10 Sacred Heart: Tournament game. Current Rank #7 Manuel: Tournament game: Current Rank #5 Montgomery County: Game cancelled due to weather: Current Rank #2 North Hardin: Game played: Current Rank #4 All of the following are ranked in the top 20 BGP recent poll and are teams that North Hardin has played or scheduled this year that I am aware of. Etown: Ranked 6th Nelson: Ranked 20th Highlands: Ranked 18th To say that we need to get out of the 9th and play some better athletic teams in the state is farsical or maybe even illogical. We've seen the best teams in the state and I can earnestly say that Highlands should have won it, but you are right Athena didn't.

North Hardin 61 Highlands 55
No not being illogical at all. Your team though very athletic didn't play with a lot of discipline this particular game and afforded Highlands several opportunities that for whatever reason Highlands didn't take can't advantage of. Is that illogical? Is it illogical to say that if Highlands would have taken advantage of your teams 14 turnovers the first half there may have been a different outcome? Of course you consider the referee debacle a non issue. Is it illogical to say that if the officials would have called the 20 plus walks committed by your team there would have been a difference in the outcome? Highlands should have won this game and I'm shocked they didn't. Though playing a more athletic team Highlands had opportunities to take advantage of your teams mistakes. Sorry you took this as such a criticism to your team. If I were being critical to anyone it was towards Highlands. They have to get mentally tougher and beat teams that give them the opportunity. Good luck against E-Town!

Nelson County 45 Henderson County 40
I don't have a dog in this fight, but Samantha Drake had two Guardian Angles out there on the court yesterday. I think they're called officials. Drake is a very athletic player, but in a competent officiated game Henderson County may very well have won that game. She came over the back of several Henderson County players on several occasions and was not called for it. I noticed the dark haired official discussing a call with fans during the game. When you start seeing that the rest kind of speaks for itself. Again Drake is a very good player. But the protection she was afforded in the game yesterday was pretty obvious. Again I'm a Highlands fan and am unbiased towards either Nelson or Henderson County. Good luck to both teams the remainder of the year.

North Hardin 61 Highlands 55
Highlands and many opportunities to win this game and quite frankly should have won. They were only down three with a couple of minutes left. I have a new found respect for 9th region officials after watching the crew that was out there on Saturday. Katie Allen played great. The Birds had 5 offensive fouls called against them to North Hardin's none. Nevertheless Highlands still should have won the game and should learn many lessons from it. North Hardin is a very athletic team, good luck the rest of the year.

Boone County 45 Holmes 38
You have hit the nail on the head. If I were coaching Holmes I live and die with Ricardo Johnson. I would have him at the point and tell everybody including Pittman to get the heck out of his way. He's very unselfish and could easily dish the ball off. Pittman shot the ball to much in the first half. Holmes players kind of started standing around a little to much. There is a problem with the offense when Ricardo Johnson gets so few good looks. I've never seen such an athletic team stay so far out on the perimeter when running their offense. You had a great win Boone, but I doubt anybody in this region will handle Holmes on the big floor at KY Bank arena. Pittman is a very good player however his level of maturity I could see potentially being the achillis heel for Holmes down the stretch when they're playing the state's best.

Did the young lady who was injured the other night for Conner play?
