Eta Rho Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Glad to hear!! Nice work everybody! :thumb: An especially big kudos should go out to St. E. Sports Medicine and Griffin Industries for stepping up and helping to get this done by becoming sponsors.
Gunner11 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Agreed. A shame that it took their sponsorship and a herculean email effort for this to happen.
Flotsam Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 The spirit of resistance is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere." --Thomas Jefferson to Abigail Adams, 1787.
gametime Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 My boss is calling now to see if this includes tape delay video...

statmanhensley Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I've wanted to stay out of the debacle that was apparent there for a few days. I had known that something was up that could possibly allow the games to be broadcasted but I didn't want to say anything until it became official. Like it has already been said, it is a shame that it had to come to this for the games to be broadcasted. As I told gametime a few days ago, myself and some other individuals who do pstgame interviews have had a couple things that we didn't like about SMG take place so it didn't surprise me that they were trying to blackout the games. I will not get into that but.....yeah. LOL. Anyway, I think will be running the scoreboard for the greater part of the games during the regional and a friend of mine who is a student here at NKU and an alum of Boone County will potentially cover for me on the games I can't be there for. (NKU's men's team has all but wrapped up hosting the GLVC conference tournament and the women still have a shot.....these games will be at Regents Hall).
Tiger1 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 This is great news. Everyone that worked on this project needs to be commended for their efforts.
SportsGuy41017 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Thanks to Griffin Industries and St. Elizabeth Sports Medicine for stepping to the plate, as well as the BOK for working to get this in place. I believe that this will be a great event if done right, also one of the reasons the BOK was built was to recruit students, as well as create interest in NKU (this was mentioned by NKU in the paper this morning). The people from the 9th and 10th that are able to go will still go, but the family, friends and fans that can't will have the same opportunity as they were afforded in the past to listen on the radio or online. The fans will come off with a good feeling about the BOK and NKU, and tell their friends and other fans back home (especially the 10th) what a nice facility it is, and no one back home will have hard feelings about being blacked-out. A win-win situation for the BOK and NKU! The will not sell out any of the games a week before hand, as you won't know until the night or two before about the semi final and final match ups, so there will be no live TV coverage. To me, live TV could possibly keep some fans away, I don't think it would be too many though, but you never know about the weather the first part of March that could play a factor. I hope that they will go one more step and allow for delay TV coverage, the TBNK won't show the games until about a week after they are played, that will not keep anyone from going to the games.
Plato Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Good news. Glad those in charge of BOK saw the light.
Mr.Network Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Everybody should now email Griffin Industries and St. Elizabeth Sports Medicine to thank them for their Sponsorship, including everybody who sent an angry email to the arena operators and others. Seriously, positive feedback like this is very important to an event Sponsor.
