  1. The Taylor County player had no, none, zero, chance of stopping Benny Laprade on the dunk. He undercut him at the top of his jump, took his legs out from underneath him. He fell directly on his elbows, wrists and of course his chest. If he doesn't try to break his fall with his hands, arms, he breaks his face. He was inverted. No confirmation on the severity of the injury, however, based on his reaction, leaving in an ambulance etc, the news isn't going to be good for Benny. Let's pray for a quick recovery. Pettigrew had 33 and 12. Not much to celebrate however.
  2. Steffphon works so hard, the sky is the limit. His perimeter game is getting better all the time. You can't work him too hard either. He loves to be on the floor at all times. Should be a great season for E-town and Steffphon!:dancingpa
  3. Exactly. Etown has some surprises up their sleeve! If the refs don't shackle Steffphon he goes for as many as he wants each and every game. I don't see anyone being able to stop him. He scored from everywhere on the floor, inside, outside, free throw line, 3 point line. I have watched every 2007 candidate play and the only player I thought that was going to threaten Steffphon's Mr. Basketball title was Haddix from Scott Co.
  4. Steffphon Pettigrew was the best player on the floor tonight, as he swells up and scores 48 points against the Ky All Stars. Not sure how many rebounds at least 15, 3 blocks, numerous steals. Unbelievable!
  5. Yeah, Ill take that bet. The only Junior on the first team all state this year is the front runner for Mr. Basketball next year....... The GREW!! Steffphon Pettigrew
  6. Coaching baby, coaching. Hopper is the man!:ylsuper: Eagles are going to torch :flame::banana: tonight
  7. Everybody should win a prize. And everyone should get a medal for their participation. No one loses.....No one wins.
  8. Good job Eagles!! Sounded like Coach Hopper was the man in this one. We are heading to Lexington to watch Apollo put the slipper on!! GO EAGLES!! :thumb:
  9. JH plays a bump you first, go get the ball second defense, and it works a lot of times. However, SL wouldn't be bumped today, they just shoved right back, that's what you have to do against this type of team. If you don't meet them with the same physical play, they will run over you. Walt Allen and co. ran over JH today. I said it before the region started, SL was bored this season, nothing to gain until NOW!! I have seen all but two teams play this season, and SL is one of them. I watched them last year, and IMHO, they will repeat. Mark it down!
  10. 9th Officials are calling a lot of fouls. In two games Etown has 42 fouls against them, opponents 43 fouls. They are consistent, consistently blowing the whistle. Think of this, in two games, 64 minutes of play, 85 fouls have been called. 1.33 fouls per minute. Not what you would call a smooth game. Again, I will say, they are consistent. Calling everything. I just hope they continue to be consistent. Thats all you can ask for. Let the players know what you are and aren't going to call.
  11. Bardstown played a great game. Panthers struggled from the free throw line and missed at least 8 layups in the first half. Find a way to win baby!! Win and move on. Calhoun was unreal tonight, super quick and can jump out of the gym. Bardstown is always a class program and they showed it tonight.
  12. It was a foul fest. 39 fouls in 32 minutes. A win is a win. Move on to the next game.
  13. Is Caverna quicker than Green County? I guess not! How do you lose the district final to a 13-14 team on your home floor?
  14. No darkhorse in this region, just LONGSHOTS. If Corbin can't beat SL at home, they aren't going to do it in the region. I say SL breezes through the region. They will win the title game by at least 20. The entire season must have seemed like practice for SL. Returning State Champs in an easy region, all they have been thinking of is returning to Rupp. Who can blame them. IMHO they are still the odds on favorite to win the title. I
  15. I hear that our crews are going to the 9th We have some decent officials, but we have some real head cases also. Just remember, don't say anything to the short guys, especially the shortest!!
  16. JH shot 69% in the first half and had a 5 point lead. Law of averages caught up with the Bulldogs. Not sure what they shot in the second half, but they couldn't buy a bucket in the 4th quarter. Dustin McVey who started in place of Quinn Harris is a senior point guard that has been chompin at the bit to play. He always accepted his role behind Quinn since he was a freshman. HE HAD A HUGE game! If Etown can make it back to State, and that's a big IF, Etown's silver lining to Quinn's suspension is Dustin McVey now knows he can do the job!! He always thought he could, now he KNOWS IT!! :dancingpa
  17. I said one of the most physical, add them to this list.... Male, PRP, John Hardin, Scott County, Henry Clay. I am forgetting someone I am sure. IF Dunbar played in the 5th Region they would have at least 18 wins. No question about it. I wasn't trying to smash them, just calling it like I saw it! It would do them good just to throw the ball at the basket and go get it! You just can't drive to the basket every posession.
  18. Sorry if your offended, but if you want to complain about officiating don't even mention last years game at Dunbar. Their fans, the coach, and even the coach's wife were a joke! The coach's wife went and verbally attacked one of our fans. He responded to her and she runs and gets the police. The cops say that she does it every game and leaves our fan alone. I know that coach and his wife are gone now. As for shooting, I am not talking about missing shots, I am talking about not even taking shots outside of 8 feet. You have to attempt something from outside every once in a while. Oh the "big Kid" for Etown is Steffphon Pettigrew. Pushing and shoving is only returned never given. Dunbar is one the MOST physical teams we have played this year. Steffphon was hammered all night long. He is so strong he absorbs twice as many fouls that are actually called!
  19. John Hardin has played so many weak teams. What do you learn from a 57 blowout against a team that has won three games all year? They are over rated and just might lose their first game in the district to North Hardin i think or Central Hardin, not sure. I saw them play Doss twice this year and they just looked very sloppy. The Corn guy, Stalworth shoots like crazy. They have a guard that's pretty good, but he can't shoot that well. He's good off the dribble.
  20. Israel Chambers? He played, and had 29 points! 6 at half, then 23 in the second half.
  21. fan posted, that said it might not be that bad to lose a game before the post season. Hey, a loss at St.X on senior night, by one posession in OT isn't all bad. Good teams always learn with tough losses like this. Good Luck to both in the postseason!
  22. Panthers go 10-32 from the free throw line. It was an UGLY game. Dunbar is very physical with absolutely no shooting ability. They didn't even attempt a three pointer. Lay up or no shot basically was their offense. Panthers were up 32 points when the Etown starters came out. This bunch of Etown Seniors have won 87% of their games since all joining the varsity as Sophmores. 85-13 last three years. Let the post season begin!!!
  23. Rockets get the loss that they have been looking for. St.X is very disciplined and might pull off some more shockers in the post season.
