  1. If you want a seat, and your not from Scott County forget it. You will be up top. Scott County has already printed the Championship T shirts. Every team that is invited might as well be called the Washington Generals. It's the Scott County dog and pony show. :fire:
  2. Tubby watched the game last night at Doss. See post about Tubby watching...... :dancingpa
  3. against Doss last night in Louisville. Etown's squad(except Steffphon) was really intimidated by Doss' athleticism. They are very physical. Panthers were down 17 at half and cut it to 4 at the end of the game. If Etown hits some free throws and just a couple of those WIDE OPEN 3's down the stretch they might have won this game. Steffphon had no problem scoring from anywhere on the floor. Brooks and Brown both fouled out, WITH A 17 pts lead at half time. Brooks had one really nice alley oop dunk. However, he has nothing outside of 6'. Slow on the defensive end, he really just hangs back and tries to block shots. Kudos to Doss, they are a really good team. #10 PG is Really, really good! If they advance in the State it will be because of his play first. Brooks can't carry this team. Officiating....Refs were terrible, one ref even called a T on the Etown manager. Steffphon was knocked to the floor on a three point attempt an NO CALL! The crowd, bench and everyone on Etown's side go crazy. The ref reacts and calls a T on a guy with a Suit on! When the ref realizes that it's the team manager he is clearly embarrased!! Refs, however, werent' responsible for Etown losing. Doss won the war, Pettigrew definately won the battle! Pettigrew 36 and 14 Brooks 22 and 8 Tubby seemed to like what he was watching, but who knows. Etown heads back to Louisville to play PRP tonight!
  4. You are exactly right about the possibility of growth-he is only 17 years old! I'm not sure if Tubby has a call in show-but I think we all need to pull a "Richie Farmer" on Tubby for Pettigrew! Let's support this young man, folks!
  5. Steffphon stats to date are 35 ppg, 14 boards. I wonder how these stats stack up against others being recruited by UK. He also had a monster summer with the Derek Smith All-Stars against some of the nation's best talent. I think Steffphon has produced, he's gone well beyond proving himself worthy. I want to know what it actually takes for a Kentucky high school basketball player to actually be recruited by Kentucky. Honestly, I find it completely offensive that UK is not in contact with our guy. Shame on them.
  6. Steffphon never stops playing, nor does he want to! I have watched him since 7th grade and he never waivers. He is on task, on mission and never waivers. Not one ounce of attitude. He is king of Etown High School and you would never know it. Humble, hard working Ky kid that deserves a shot. Thanks for the post!
  7. Last year as a Junior All Star he stetched the court easily for a cool 46 against the Senior All Star team. He hit shots from everywhere on the floor.
  8. TCAT4LIFE are you an Etown fan? I was just commenting that I wish I had a picture of that dunk. First dunk of the game against North Hardin and it brought the house down. WOW! Great picture!!! There is no question Steffphon has the ability to play for UK right now. He is only 17 years old and only looks to improve and grow. He's got the desire, the attitude, and most importantly the heart! He's a mountain! What does Tubby have to lose with giving Steffphon a shot? I mean really. Thomas, Perry, Orbzut, Moss, Stockton, Carrier, Carter, the list goes on and on,each and every one of these players got a shot? These guys were as good as Steffphon coming out of high school? Not a chance!!
  9. Pettigrew goes for 35 and 23. Starting Center, Benny Laprade, comes back with a nice double/double 11/11. Not bad for a guy who broke both bones in both arms in the second game of this season! Starting PG comes back after breaking his hand and has a good game. Suddenly, Etown is much deeper and only look to improve!!
  10. Anyone even close? 35.6 ppg 63% FG's 13.8 rpg Two school records, 52, and broke his own record two games later with 54. Starting PG and Center come back Tuesday. Don't look now, the Panthers are on the prowl!!
  11. Charlie Rawlings Memorial Coliseum home of the E-town Panthers. Panthers don't lose at home very often. Last 40 games, 38-2. Fans right on top of the action. Gotta love it!
  12. Starting Center and PG are back for the next game!! Look for Etown to start a run of wins that will extend in to the post season. Suddenly Etown's a deep team. The younger kids have learned a lot in a short period of time.
  13. Etown's schedule is not an easy one. Lost 10 seniors from last year, plus the only two returning players in the second game of the season. Starting PG and Center are both on the mend and will soon join Steffphon and crew. No one can stop Steffphon. Foul trouble is his only defender.
  14. Well stated. There are many games that I rarely say anything to the refs, there are others, that they get some comments. NEVER, I mean NEVER do I or anyone around me curse at the refs, threaten them, or call them names. Now we do protest calls with boos, whistles, pointing out obvious violations etc. The sign of a good fan is one that can accept a good call against his own team. I only protest bad calls. There are times that I am shocked at the call against the OTHER team!! I hate it when it's an obvious blown call and we get the benefit. You know why? The dreaded "make up call" is looming in the next posession. I know it's tough on officials. That's why they get paid!! Anyone got an easy job? Let me know!
  15. Steffphon Pettigrew has been lighting it up. Set a new school record with 54 points against John Hardin. Last 4 games average 41.5 ppg/ 13 rpg WOW:thumb:
  16. Jeff Jones is actually in his 7th year as head coach at American University in Washington, DC and doing quite well there!
  17. I remember the '78 Eagles very well. It was truly a magical time for all those involved. The final game of the 3rd Region tourney featured the only two undefeated teams left in the state-Apollo and Drakesboro. The Owensboro Sportscenter was SRO and the atomosphere was amazing. Apollo won 78-54 to assure a trip to state undefeated-an accomplishment achieved only once before in the history of Kentucky high school basketball. Jeff Jones went on the play college ball at the University of Virginia (and coach), and Steve Barker played at Samford University. Coach Chapman coached at Ky Wesleyan and won a couple National Titles.
  18. If Sheeeray Thomas plays that much, Steffphon most certainly could suit up for UK. Is Steffphon the answer to UK's woes? I don't think so, however, I think when you add really good talent from within the state you keep that FIRE for UK basketball on the squad. Supplement that with some top National talent and you have a recipe for success. Every kid from Kentucky, except a few that somehow like UL better, wants to walk on Rupp's floor with a Kentucky uniform on. I would just love to do it once. You can't import that loyalty, dream, etc. Where did you think Chris Lofton wanted to play when he was 8 years old? I am guessin UK. What kind of passion would he bring to this UK squad this year? Tubby needs to figure that out in my opinion. Steffphon deserves a shot at his dream Tubbster! Give it to him!
  19. Steffphon just broke his record. 54 points tonight in a win over John Hardin. Double digit rebounds, the number I am not sure. On a side note , WLEX TV was at the game and really focused on Steffphon before, during and after the game. First time we have had a Lexington TV station down to a regular season game, or any game for that matter. It's usually Lousiville stations. Steffphon's going to get an offer from Tubby....soon.!
  20. His career high now is 52 points 19 boards. Posted last weekend. He is averaging 34 ppg and 14 rpg. The team is 6-6. Lost 10 seniors from last year and two starters this year. That's 12 players in one year, yet Etown will recover and be a force to be reckoned with come tourney time. Laprade C gets his casts off today, Walters PG next week. In the mean time the younger players are getting alot of playing time. They looked really good against an average Barren County team. Won by 30+. Look for Sophomore Chris Gohman to step up as the season goes on, the kids a gamer! There is no one player that can stop Steffphon Pettigrew, most of the time it takes 3 or more!!
  21. All Districts should be seeded. After that i think the draw is the only way you can approach the situtation. I can only imagine all the conspiracy theories if the regions were seeded. It's bad enough with the blind draw.
  22. Missing the starting pg, and center, Steffphon and the Etown crew post another win. Steffphon with a double/double again, not sure of final numbers but around 26 and 13. Chris Gohman, Zach Riney, Aaron Pedigo, and a host of Panthers had a good game.
  23. Everyone was in shock really. It took the Paramedics 42 minutes to arrive on the scene. The foul while stupid and uncalled for, was not viscious. He was a slow, overweight center that was "hustling" down the floor and tried to take away the dunk. It wasn't going to happen without fouling. He apologized to our team and coaches as soon as he figured out Benny was really hurt. It was ruled an intentional foul.
