Rowan at Elliott
It seems like the favorite loses this game during the regular season every year, but this year I am not so sure there is a favorite. If Elliott controls the game like they did at east carter the other night they will win by 5-10 points. If they force shots like they did against East in the first game and Raceland, Rowan will win. Elliott is still a very young team but the players are starting to find and fill their roles nicely.

How Do you STOP the top 4 16th region teams?
There is no "big 4" in this region. There is Russell, then a group of about 5 more teams that could beat Russell occasionally and each other on any given night. Trying to stop the "top 4" is really not the question. trying to stop Russell when they are playing halfway decent is the question. I do enjoy getting to include some small schools (Rose Hill, Elliott County) in the discussion this year along with the usual suspects.

Elliott Co. at East Carter Thoughts
The long layoff could hurt Elliott in the short term. It will be very close, no prediction here. If Elliott is shooting a decent percentage they should win.

Good rankings, Cubster. No disagreement here.

Let kids be kids. Lord knows they will have to grow up soon enough.

Rose Hill 95 Piarist 40
Rose Hill is going to be a regional contender this year. They have more young talent and size than most and they are only going to get better. Those who are doing the bashing now may be eating some crow in the spring. As far as Piarist, everybody plays a cupcake or two and thaey are a natural for that particular tournament and what it stands for right now.

I wouldn't count out Rose Hill just yet. Good win for Ashland. They are starting to get on a roll.

For Officials Bashers
When I scew up at my job I get criticized. So do radio announcers. When you operate in the public arena your actions will be scrutinized and must of us have some accountability. Referees should be no different. Therre are some good ones and some bad ones. I agree that in our region there are no referees intionally cheating anyone...but there are some incompetent ones out there and it is fair to point that out.

Elliott Co.
I did not say I agreed with it. I was just trying to think of a good reason when there probably is not one.

Clean shaven or not....
Things ain't like they used to be and kids are not either. I'm with you guys, but we must be a little more realistic. Coaches just can't turn kids into robots liked they used to do with us. Might be better if they could but this generation is different. I would hate to lose good kids and players because a coach did not like their haircut, beard or tattoo. Stereotypes are as bad as racism.

Elliott Co.
They actually bring a pretty good crowd for a small school. I think that Mays thought the Raceland tournament last year may have took his kids legs out before the Class "A". Just a guess.

Elliott Co.
It would have been a good thing for them. The tournaments seem to help bring teams together and prepares for postseason competition. I have not heard any explanation.

Clean shaven or not....
Get serious. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Follow the rules as to dress (shirt tucked in) and play the game. Short hair or long never won a ballgame. I personally prefer short hair and clean cut, but those are my preferences. Kids have different styles from generation to generation. Let's talk about something that has to do with basketball.

Mason Co. vs. Russell Predictions??
I will be pulling hard for Russell, but they just do not have the guns to play with Mason. Who knows, maybe Dodd can keep the score in the 30's-40's and anything might happen.

East Carter 58 Elliott Co. 57
Some of us probably have experience in that field. When a coach puts his team on the floor they become a direct presentation of his talent and ability as well as the players. Sometimes a knowledgeable fan, especially some on here with much basketball experience can see where there are problems. When a coach has the same issues year after year and the opposition is able to take advantage of that, it does not take a genius to figure out and point out that there is a problem. We all make mistakes in our various professions, but the smart ones learn and fix the problem.

I did not mean to start a fuss. I was complimenting Rose Hill and the way they have gone about building a successful program. They are good kids and could very easily win our Region. I'm not saying they are the best team right now, but they have some great young talent and a good coach. Maturity gained throughout the season and tournaments like they are playing in will only make them stronger.

Elliott County's new staff seems to be starting a turnaround in that program. Good to see.

East Carter 58 Elliott Co. 57
Those kids have always found a way to win at every level. What they lack in size they make up for in effort and talent. They will not surprise anybody this year so it will be a little tougher. Sometimes the forced shots in the halfcourt game are a direct result of lack of size and a little impatience. That will change with maturity and a little coaching.

One more win and maybe GIAT will be back.

VanHoose had 19 in 3rd Quarter alone. Those doubters as to his D-1 talent are starting to look stupid.
