RA09 not questioning your post but the score doesn't indicate a poor defensive performance. Could you elaborate and how did Kyle Bair play for East?

This is the underlying problem for Elliott this entire season. Some posters can get on here and talk about defense and missed free throws all they want, but when it comes down to it - there must be 5 individuals on the court at all times coming together as one team in order to be successful.

East got lots of easy baskets off dribble penetration. They shot a ton of free throws and Elliott didnt defend the 3 very well while Elliott missed easy shots and couldnt connect at the foul line.

Once again Elliott's free throw shooting sure doesn't help. East played very well and shot very well. Van "Big Shot" Burge dropped bombs from the outside with defenders in his face.

 

I thought Elliot had some very nice passes leading to quite a few assists, however, some passes that sit up good looks that just didn't find their way into the hole.

East made as many as 14 passes before a shot and most of the time a score, Elliott on the other hand hardly ever made over 2 passes before a shot and thatis not just one or two its every player on the floor, they will not consistently go inside and out and bottom line is when they shoot around 45-50% from the three(as they have the previous 3 games)they win. When they shoot normal from outside(33-38%) the line as did tonight they lose. As for the defence Rickyp East rarely shot a shot from anywhere that wasn't heavily contested and a large amount of them ended up "and ones". Every three Burge dropped was with a hand in or ON his face. Hats off to East they are avery disciplined patient team. Kyle bair didnt score that much but he played an excellant game!!

Impressive win for East Carter. Coach Baker has done a nice job, team is well schooled and they are deadly at the free throw line. They have two guys who can create off the dribble and penetrate which makes it tough on even the best defenders. They run their stuff well and and play solid defense.

Elliott seems to have some players who don't know a good shot from a bad one and the point on dribble penetration defense was right on point. But, when you are playing that many young players, maturity will solve some of the problems. I agree thaey have not proven themselves to be a top 5 team right now. East Carter is well coached. They were patient and executed a well-designed gameplan that controlled tempo and got good shots. Baker is proving to be one of the best.
