Another year, another cross county rivalry. Each year one of the biggest games for both Bracken Co. and Augusta is the Cross County match-up. No matter how much one team has the upper hand, its always going to be a good one. Each year its called the cross county shootout for each team but this year its a little more special. Its "Shoot For A Cure Night", a night dedicated to helping out breast cancer, every fan is being asked to wear pink. Coaches and players from both teams will also be sporting pink, whereas both teams will warm-up in pink shirts. Many activities have been set up also to help support this cause. Should be a good night and a great game. If you dont have anything better to do id get to Bracken Co. and enjoy this one.

Okay everyone this picture was taking at the St. Pat/Augusta game on 12-6 its a picture of St. Pat gaurd Nick Anderson, Augusta Coach Kelsch, and Augusta senior camera man Aaron Linville. People in Augusta had told Aaron that he looked like Nick, so being the jokester Coach Kelsch is he decided to get a picture. The question im asking is, what do you all think? Does Nick and Aaron look alike? Or is everyone Crazy thats saying they do? (All post are Oppions only, so dont take them to serious.)

Does the Rogers kid that transfered from Fleming to GRC play freshman or is he one that was moved up?

The Saints do have a perfect record in season play over the past 2 years, but like meercat stated anything can happen on any given night. If i remember correctly 2 years ago the Saints were set wnning all 3 games and then getting beat by a lesser Panthers team. I believe that was the win that point gaurd Josh White hit the 75 footer wasnt it? Im going to say this year is different Augusta by 4:jump: Augusta 68 St. Pat 64

I agree STML your greatest asset is the role player. I remember a player from augusta a few years ago by the name of packy hinson (coach Jason Hinson's younger brother) who was a great role player, every night he was out working hard and took at least 5 charges a game. He never got the publicity, i doubt there is 10 people on here that even remember him. Another one i remember was a bracken kid by the name of Michael Cannon who i think was a good role player because he made a difference when he was on the floor, he was a very smart player who did what he had to do every night. Neither of them got recognition and their names were in the box scores...

Alright, I was just wondering what this team is looking at this season. I know they graduated 6-8 seniors last year, and I know every year while other teams are rebuilding they reload. So, I was just wondering what everyone else has seem from them?

Who will be UK's new coach? When i was in Lexington this past week i heard alot of stuff. But Word on the street was that Mason County Head Coach Chris O'Hearn was offered the job and is taking it leaving Mason. Also heard he was taking Asst. Coach Robert Moore with him leaving these two positions open. I was told that Mason County has been in contact with St. Patrick Head Coach Jason Hinson to feel the spot. Any word on this?

I was a little upse t to get one here and see this. If Bracken Co. deserved to win it then why did you cheer for Augusta. Or are you saying they deserved it because your son didnt play because it seems like if your son dont play you dont cheer. I think also you are the only one in Augusta that wants them to win it now, at most you should be hoping that brossart smashes them. I mean if you really do have A-town Pride.

As every great coach has said free throws can either win a game for you or lose it. # 50 played like he was all state tonight, or at least Augusta made it seem like that he must have had 20 rebounds. Mofford has been working on his game with post moves and looking better except he still wants to jump out and shoot instead of posting. I look for him to become big come tourny time with the improvement he has already made. Staggs is the key to the offenses the panthers try to get it to him more and more because they know he can put the ball in. He had a wide variety of post moves and as of lately has further developed his long-range shot. Hardymon just looked to be frustrated, he wasnt hitting and wasnt gettin many touches so it kind of frustrated him and he lost his head on some turnovers. And as fro you being the bad luck charm. I dont think so, this team just thinks if their up by 10 or so at the half the other team is going to just lay down and give up. Glad to see you at the game tho.

IMO. John Roberts could never be top 5 at Augusta. There has just been too many players come out better than him. I mean when you have a kid that tall and he wanted to step out and shoot 3's instead of just hammering on people. Thats weak. I would say Derick Bach would make top 5 players instead. The other 4 i would probabley have to agree Bill could just play, Robin could hit any shot he pulled, Kirk done it all, and Patrick was a shooter.

I agree Pride... this thread has already gotten of topic. But the game should be the best cross-county shootout for these 2 teams in the past 6 years. And like Pride said earlier if you want a good seat for this game you might want to come early because i remember the game last yea at the den it was packed. These two teams will deffinatly come ready to play Kelsch and Fite both want this game because this could be the boost both teams need to put the back on track. With Hall back on the realm it should be a good PG match up for him and White. Brackens big weapo though ist Hall but Tyler Hamilton the beast in the middle, Groves has done a good job over the years at stopping big men and i wanna see this one. Hardymon has to play the best hes ever hether hes scoring or not, he could be the deciding factor with Bracken having Smith who can shoot and Cooper Who isnt afraid to get in the middle. I think Augusta will answer back with 6'+ Hamilton and Staggs on the boards and also G Fryman will hopfully come in and do what he does best stop someone and get White some rest. Bracken will also have Williams to help Hall out to roud off the team. Every year this game is a toss up and this one might be the hardest one to decide on whose going to win. Bottom Line... THIS IS GOING TO COME DOWN TO HUSTLE NOT SKILL....THE TEAM THAT PLAYS HARDER WILL WIN!!

I bet this was one game to watch. Didnt Hester, play with Rice Hill and Jefferson on an AAU. If these are the same ones i used to watch in AAU for Northern Kentucky Tar Heels those boys could play. I remember Jefferson being the best out of the 4 but it looks like Hill has taking that Over. CONGRATS SK.

This game went back and forth the whole night. I got over to watch it last nite and was impressed with the intensity that was carried by the saints and the devils. I know at one point in the game Chris completely took over but because of foul trouble had to slpw down for a bit. Also Travis massey went down with 4 fouls and got back in with 3 mins to go and took over after 2 BIG air ball 3's from billy graves put st pat back in. At one point chris was on a one on one mis match break crossed over and went up and Travis came outta no where to get a block. these 2 played the hardest iv ever seen them. CONGRATS to Hinson's Saints. GOOD LUCK Devils

Every Year teams miss seniors they lost the year before. It happens and theres no changing it so get off that subject. Matt groves shot just hasnt been falling everyone can see that and no one is more mad about that than him. It happens players dont shoot right but they get help from coaches and get it back. And for the Stats maybe they are the best on the team but have you taking in account the different positions and how many shots are taking. ANd dont get me wrong every player does add something to the team some more than others but thats where the coach decides who is ready in that situation. Im sure Coach Kelsch knows exactly what hes doing i mean he has been coaching for 9 years as the head coach. And smaller school size doesnt matter one bit you can still be a small school and have good athletes. BOTTOM LINE.... The Bench will get the time when they are greatly needed.

Its seems to me that the boys over looked Calvary. Everyone was giving them 20+ and they thought the team were scrubs. Friday should be the deciding factor, id like to see how these boys bump back into it. It doesnt matter whether the bench preforms friday or not because if the starters dont kick it on early then Montgomery will blow by. Iv been reading about these shooters that are shooting over 65% im guessing thats in JV since they have no recorded Varsity time. Im guessing that the kid shooting over 62% and averaging 11ppg is your son? Am i hinting some jealousy?:confused: Because so far it seems the team is doing well with 3-1 other than this game...

I agree with you mcpapa some would call it a mild upset but the people have to look back at last years game. Augusta played without dustin staggs for the whole second half cuz of a torn ACL and also played without guard josh white due to a concussion from a scrimmage the week before. The game is at Augusta this time but sometimes that aint always good. Should be a good game to watch. i might just have to make my way to Augusta friday.

Yea ur rite southern gentleman mason is the best team in the district and even the best in the region. and no mason and augusta have not played in some year except in district play, but thats only cuz both school never have open dates that match up because of contracts they have with other schools. And no they do not play KSD they may not play mason but they play teams such as: Fleming Co. Montgomery Co. Pendleton Co. Harrison Co. and Newport all teams that have been ranked right with mason. As far as missing players (A-Town) Gallagher- yea a good defense player and good shooter but they one player doesnt make a defense work and Kelsch loves shooters so he can replace them pretty good (St. Pat) Estill- lost a good point gaurd but most of all they lost the heart of the team but hopfully Owens has takin that job over (Bracken Co.) Randolph, Linville, Fields and Coach Hammonds- Hard to loose 3 good players and be right back in it exspecially lossing your coach too but what im hearin Fite is doin a good job replacing him but i also heard that bracken has just recently lost 6'5 highlander switchin back to his old school and point gaurd jesse hall due to conflict with the coach. Not sure if its true but that just what iv heard

Panther how can you make a prediction on 2 teams that you have no clue about. You dont have much knoledge on the 10th region without looking it up on the internet do you. The only team you know alot about is your home team, keep it at that. Really your making alot of people mad on here even people from your own town from what iv heard. All im saying is if dont know about the subject, Dont comment on it.

1.Mason the other three can go any which way... It all depends on who wants it the most and who will sacrifice the most. Yea every year Mason is the team to beat.

Yea the river school might not have done much last year in the begining but later on in the season they turned around. Yea they lost a shooter but i wouldnt say a huge shooter they still have shooters matt groves and jeremy hardymon(who if i remember correct gave ur brother a big fit in the game against them at augusta with 40 points i believe.) also what i seen over the summer and what iv heard from a good friend of mine they also have some young guns that have proved to hit the shot. Im sure that the Panthers are very happy to have Staggs back too i look for him to be a big board banger this year. Im betting that gaurd White is real happy to have him comnsidering he didnt get to play a game with him last year. BOTTOM LINE DONT COUNT AUGUSTA OUT TOO EARLY..
