  1. X comes out flat and trails early then pulls away in the second half to win by 20.
  2. Trinity has done this for a year (maybe two). Another word on the street is that Will Wolford will be the new color man. If that is true then they will have a MUCH improved broadcast. Since Poplar Level Road will be a zoo, I'll be listening tomorrow night.
  3. Trinity's broadcast also has has live game stats that are updated sometimes faster than the streaming audio. Pretty cool to click and and see all the individual passing, rushing, and receiveing stats as the game goes on.
  4. drove 137 mph on I-65 ate 23 white castles in 8 minutes
  5. I voted DWade, but I would go with Duncan if they were the same age.
  6. With 5 of the top 16 (and 3 of the top 7) Lit rated teams in the 7th region, is it a stretch to say that winning the 7th region might be a more difficult/grueling proposition than winning the state tournament? Let me also add that I am not a proponent of the Lit ratings, nor am I trying to say that Jefferson Co. has better teams year in and year out than regions out in the state. But with Ballard, Male & J'Town (and Trinity & Eastern), there may be an arguement here in 2007.
  7. I have a junior high student (Catholic grade school) that I am 99% sure will go to a private Catholic HS. That being said, if he DID go to a public school and was told he could not play sports for a year, I would be the first guy in line with my attorney. My tax dollars fund public schools just as much as the tax dollars of those people who send their kids to public grade schools. For those kids to be able to play and deny my kids the same opportunity? The Board of Control would have to have a team of morons advising them if they think the courts would side with them.
  8. Dunn doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed. He has so much physical ability that I think it masks a little of his mental inability. He puts fans in the stand, but I don't think he will help put a pennant on the wall.
  9. Flaget Center is the former Angela Merici High School which merged with Bishop David in the 80s to form Holy Cross...Holy Cross is located at the Bishop David facility, and the Archdiocese took over the old Angela Merici building and made it the Flaget Center...the entrance way of the Flaget Center still has (I believe) tiling in the floor or wall with the Angela Merici crest.
  10. A friend of mine who's son swims for X (did not compete at the state meet though) said that X's winning point total was the lowest in a long time. Will it be more next year or will T or Manual close the gap some more?
  11. Going to the Naval Academy is the honor...football is just a bonus. God bless our servicemen and women and here's hoping Murray rushes for 1000 yards his senior year! :thumb: :thumb:
  12. As good as Petrino was in high school, he will not duplicate that success in college, IMO. And let's say, for the sake of arguement that Doug Beaumont and Vic Anderson go on to stellar college careers. Would you be more proud as an H or X fan by the success of your alums at the next level, or would you be more proud as a T fan of the championships each of the last two years? It does seem like non-T fans are taking shots at Petrino (why I do not know) because he is not being recruited heavily, which somehow is supposed to take away from his on-field high school accomplishments.
  13. For Ballard: Allan Houston, Al Miller, Jerry Eaves, Jeff Lamp, and anyone other than Brandon Bender
  14. For Bowling Green just take their 89 team and for a sixth man how about "Hillbilly Jim"? Yes, that "Hillbilly Jim" of WWF Wrestling fame...he was scrawny (but tall) while at BGHS - not the best roundballer, but ended up making a pretty good name for himself...
  15. Do not forget the following: Keith Calvin - big time stud in the early/mid 70's...went to IU I believe Mark Oberst or David "Bubba" Crane - two more beast linemen (one defensive, the other offensive) from the 80s Mark Bartlett - absolutely HUGE guy from the 60s...he gave Mo Moorman (X) all he could handle and then some No disrespect to Otis (was he all-state in both football and soccer?), but Heinz-Williams and both Tylackas (sp.?) were as good or better. Funny thing is, I don't remember Rob Bironas playing for the Rocks(?) And shouldn't the older Brohm brothers at least get honorable mention recognition?
  16. I only saw Beaumont play once, but he was so far and away better than Anderson (and, IMO, Petrino), that he should have been darn close to a unanimous choice. I confess I don't know anything about Ammons, but the question in my mind is whether or not he could have put up his numbers facing X twice and T and Manual and PRP...I guess we'll never know. (Also, was Ammons a force on defense &/or special teams?) And as for some closing thoughts on Petrino: He deserves every award that comes his way. If he had a different last name the entire state would be rallying around him saying what a great, gutsy player he is. The Trinity system seems to be pretty difficult to master. I don't think the coaches sprinkle magic dust to make their QBs great. Petrino can flat out play.
  17. Not to slight the Track & Field athletes, but I hate watching football games with a track between the stands and the field.
  18. The last "C" is more important than the game itself. Congratulations on the victory.
  19. ^^^ Point taken. Best of luck to Coach Brown. Without disrespecting any program, I think Bob Beatty (love him or hate him) is a very, very good coach. To that end there are probably a number of schools whose programs might improve if he were in charge. And that does not mean that other programs do not have GOOD coaches, but Beatty has proven (IMO) that he operates on a different level than some others.
  20. IMHO (and I don't really know Beatty) he could win, or at least do a heck of a lot better job, with the talent at Manual, Ballard, Henry Clay and a host of other schools. He might not win a state title at Atherton or J'Town but you know darn good and well that the Rebels and Chargers would be putting teams on the field that are a lot better prepared. T would not look forward to playing the Bruins if Beatty was running the show at Ballard.
  21. And to expand to post #49... No school, public or private, going to get to the next level when parents/boosters spend more time whining about opponents' advantages (real or perceived) than they do looking in the mirror. Take a page from the Male or Highlands philosophy: Dedicate yourselves to being even better each and every year. They've got championship trophies to show for it.
  22. So would Highlands, Bardstown, Male, PRP, Bowling Green, Central, and about a dozen other public schools. :sssh: This anti-Catholic (or anti-private) thing is ridiculous. Male was every bit as good as T this year (that game was a true toss-up) and H was better than X. Mercer Co. could be the best team in KY. Manual, PRP and a few others are formidable in Louisville also. IMO coaching, conditioning, attitude, etc. go a long way when dealing with adolescents. Redman, Glaser, and Beatty seem to be able to tap into something (don't know exactly what it is) that many coaches cannot. And it goes beyond getting players to perform on the field - it's about guys buying into your system and WANTING to be a part of what you are all about. Simply having the best players doesn't automatically cut it... just ask Guy Lewis or Jerry Tarkanian. Trinity was the better team tonight in every aspect of the game. Rather than bemoan the area from which they canget players, every non-senior on Ryle's team should be dedicating himself to getting back there in 2007 by better even better, stronger, and more prepared. I'm willing to bet that's what Bob Redman is preaching to his boys at Male.
