  1. Unsure of the score. Pretty sure there will be a running clock in the second half.
  2. Call Bobby Petrino. The score will be whatever he wants it to be.
  3. I think the Cats will be ready for this one. They didn't play badly against Florida and I think they'll want to make a statement for the SEC. Make it UK 34 - Cent Mich 10
  4. I've got friends in Dixie, so I'll give them a 15 point margin over Conner.
  5. Funny thing is that it was not nearly as poor a throw as Petrino missing a wide open receiver for a touchdown. At least the Trinity defense had to make a play for the interception to occur. St. X did nothing to keep Petrino from overthrowing his man, short of making him step up out of the pocket.
  6. I think this one will be close, but X gets the win 21-13.
  7. The state has canceclled the repaving for this weekend (due to the weather). There should not be any road closures.
  8. The kids want to go, so count me in...we just may be the familty that puts the attendance over 40K.
  9. I may be way off base, but most posts on this JV game sound as if they could be from the thread on last year's state final...excuses, excuses, excuses. My kid will probably end up going to T, but not because of what happens this Friday. It IS only a football game. It seems to me that the T fans accepted defeat last Sept. far better than X fans ever do. Bash me if you will, but that is my take. (And for the record I've picked X to win on Friday.)
  10. I have a gut feeling that this game means more to Mike Glaser than it does to Bob Beatty. Not that Beatty doesn't WANT to win, it just that he has not been ingrained with this rivalry his entire life. This game is not the end-all for him - Beatty treats it more like the fifth game of the year (see 2005). The bye week helps also, so make it X by two touchdowns. (To his credit though, I don't know if there has ever been a coach in the state of Kentucky who has his teams ready in November like Beatty.)
  11. For me the "best" fans are not necessarily the ones who travel the best, but maybe the ones who are most hospitable to their guests at home games.
  12. Kickers who routinely boom kickoffs for touchbacks are still not that commonplace. I've been to HS games where neither team had a kicker who could kick it inside the ten (and the kicks were line drives) That said, let return men run it out of the end zone. I don't think that penalizes the team with the good kicker - it just requires that they have a good coverage team as well.
  13. Fans are filing out of GABP...those choosing to remain in the stands have begun to chant "UNCLE, UNCLE..."
  14. now 10-0 with one out in the top of the 6th (Piazza just hit a 3-run HR)
  15. Johnson & Brohm (who both played in this game) were in a different league coming out of HS than the names mentioned in Kentucky's players this year. Anderson is arguably the best, but he benefits from a monster offensive line. He's not a top-5-in-the-country kind of back. Petrino may be the best high school QB in the state (or maybe not), but again, you have to know it is partially a product of the system he is in. I don't think anyone believes he can play Div-I football (size), but he'll be great for a smaller program. This game seems to be an event for guys who are on track to be playing on Sundays in 4 or 5 years.
  16. Sure...let Peavy go 7 scoreless with 10 Ks in a no decision as the Reds come back to score 8 on the Padres pen in the last two innings to win it 8-7
  17. Hatteberg had words with the ump after going down on strikes to end the inning...I thought he was going to get the boot for a moment.
  18. Only about 5, but I'm here right now. I fired up BPG as the game was getting on my nerves!
  19. Already made a couple of great catches...I really thought he was going to haul another one in that ended up falling for an RBI double.
  20. Incidentally, a Reds win tonight puts them 1.5 games out in the wildcard race, tickets were 1/2 price, hot dogs are only $1 and GABP is still only half full.
  21. It's like the Padres are taking BP...7 runs on 9 hits and it's still the top of the 3rd (2 out, runner on 1st)
  22. See my last post...Unless the MLB rules have changed the division winner with the best record still plays the division winner with the worst record in the first round if, in fact, the wild crd winner is also in the winner's division.
  23. Hold on...not so fast...The Cards will play the Mets in the first round if their record is worse than the winner of the west and either Philly or Florida, gets the wild card...A VERY possible scenario. :sssh:
