  1. If I'm the AD... 3 district games St. X Elder or Moehler MBA Lex Cath Highlands Manual Butler or PRP or the best school in Southern IN 5 home games / 5 away and only 2 road trips every season
  2. It's possible to have a holding call well behind the line of scrimmage...it's enforced from the spot of the infraction, so it can go down as a 20 or 22 yard penalty, depending on the spot of the foul. still not enough to make up the discrepancy you cite.
  3. The "Rocks" by 11...MBA seems to be too well coached to get blown out...of course two days ago you might have said that about Lexington Catholic. That being said, I see MBA as a much better program than Lex Cath.
  4. I saw a post on a thread that is now closed wondering if tonight was Lex Cath's largest margin of defeat...How about everybody share in a dose of humility, and share your school's most lopsided loss that you can recall. (No sharing of most lopsided victories - that can be for another thread.) Here's hoping that your most lopsided loss will remain a distant memory!
  5. Wow...I thought Lex Cath would have trouble scoring, but I didn't think their defense would be so weak. Maybe X's offensive line is even better this year than the much hyped group in 2005?
  6. Both teams will run the ball all night (though Lex Cath will throw more than X) StX 27 - LC 7
  7. This is one of the best posts I've seen on these subjects.
  8. I firmly believe that most HS athletes want to prove thet they can beat the best in order to call themselves the best. Months ago the Courier Journal interviewed students about the public/private split and most PUBLIC school student athletes did NOT want the split. They want their chance to beat the powerhouses. Most (not all) issues being considered by the KHSAA are not about the kids as they claim, but more about the principals and ADs. Look to a team like Highlands or Bowling Green - they don't want something to be made easier for them. They want to get better and prove that they can beat ANYBODY.
  9. For the parents, and (more appropriately) administrators. Kids are smart. They know it's watered down
  10. How about 24 classes with a triple elimination tournament at the end of the season? And give trophies to everyone who makes it to the round of sixteen. There now, has everyone gotten a trophy? This is a joke. I can see Texas having 6 classes, but Kentucky? Please... I guess everyone with a daughter is hoping there will be 12 classes of field hockey in 2008 (to keep a competitive balance, of course.)
  11. Why does he only coach freshmen? I thought he was moved to varsity last year, but I guess I stand corrected.
  12. Trinity - AM 900 WFIA St. Xavier - AM 790 WKRD (some games on AM 1080 WKJK)
  13. You can be on the web without being on the radio. I know it's a lot cheaper, especially if the radio station is a big one.
  14. Chris Burke, Paul Byrd, Brian Brohm, Scott Padgett, and Trevor Miller would never go to your school...
  15. Awesome...probably took a day and a half to get there by train. That would have been the experience of a lifetime for teenagers born right after the depression!
  16. Knowing a position & being able to coach it are two different things...his bigger and more highly publicized linemen did not get it done last year's final game. IMO Bob Redman needs to be on the staff somewhere...he has a way of getting/developing Division I talent
  17. The sad truth is that this whole issue is not about the students... it is about parents, principals and athletic directors...and that's a shame.
  18. Why not make about 60 or 70 different classes and give every third team in the state a championship trophy. Maybe if Boone Co. could play Male (and beat them) in the state final game then all the Ballards and Shelby Co.s in the state would realize that it can be done through hard work and not because some committee waters down the competition.
  19. Athlete for athlete maybe X was better (Manual may have had overall better individual athletes than both T & X) Trinity was simply far more prepared (credit to the coaching staff) in the rematch and deserved to win.
  20. Also, The home announcers have every right to be for their team and to be more excited about calling their own team's touchdowns...It's like listening to George Grande (Fox Sports OH) call a Reds game vs. Jon Miller (ESPN)...George wants the Reds to win, but he will second guess &/or criticize if necessary; Jon is neutral because he has no "home" team. I think home team annopuncers become unprofessional when they act like every call that goes against them is a bad call or when they badmouth the other coaches or player. BTW, John Spears (St.X play-by-play) does a very respectable job
  21. It looks as if X (Bisig) is doing what Trinity, Scott County, Brentwood Academy (TN), Henderson Co., Highlands and I'm sure a host of other schools already do...put games on the radio and provide an internet feed as well...it's a very positive thing, but not exactly newsworthy, and definitely not groundbreaking... any of these other institutions could issue a press release saying they will be doing it until 2015...but hats off to Bisig for getting all the free PR for this...
  22. At this point in the season I think Ballard is the team to beat, with Male being the opponent in the finals.
  23. Biggest T/X upset was Trinity over X in 1958...I've heard the Louisville Times picked X by 4 or 5 touchdowns. Pretty much all T vs. X games since then cannot qualify as a huge upset because of the parity of the programs and the huge rivalry that has developed. IMO rivalry games don't qualify as upsets quite as often - the true upset occurs when a monster of a team overlooks an obviously inferior opponent (like Holy Cross ending the Rocks' streak)
