  1. It just seems to me that the state final game is being force-fed a team that may be no better than the 8th or 9th best 4A team in the state. Male, St.X, Manual, the loser of the T vs. HC game, and a couple of other Lexington teams are probably all more worthy of having a state runner-up trophy to add to their trophy case (relative to the Henderson Co. / Ryle winner). I honestly do not mean to disrespect Hend. Co. or Ryle, I just think more respect should be given to these better teams (i.e. Male) who got eliminated too soon.
  2. ^^^ I'm inferring sarcasm(?) IMO, this will be a close game. After Trinity and Male I think Henry Clay is the next best 4A team. The travesty of the new playoff system (as I've mentioned in other posts) is that the state runner-up will be nowhere near the second best team in the state.
  3. No disrespect to Henry Clay, Ryle, or Henderson Co., but the obvious problem with the new format is the fact that Male will not be in the finals. H vs. T deserved to be the culmination of the year and not a quarterfinal game. Now I happen to feel that Henry Clay might be the third best 4A team in the state and will give T a game, but having Ryle or Henderson Co. in the finals could make for an anticlimactic blowout of a state championship. As to the thread starter noting that games were close this past weekend, that's great! But I would rather see close games the next two weeks. If that happens then the new playoff system is fine, but I believe there will be semi-final and final games that will be a bit more lopsided than in years past. I hope I'm wrong.
  4. I hope the winner comes out healthy for the Thursday night finals. For what it's worth, my head says Henderson Co., but my heart is with Ryle.
  5. According to several posts on other threads, the winner of this game will be the state runner-up.
  6. In no way am I disrespecting AAA teams, Lexington teams, other state teams or St. X or Manual, but from what little I know (and I don't claim to be an expert), it looks like Trinity and Male are the 2 best overall teams in the state - by far. They went toe-to-toe in a battle that could have gone either way. If they play that game 10 times they would each win 5. Plus both teams blew out their opponents in each of the first two rounds of the playoffs. It's a real travesty that they could not meet in the finals.
  7. Trinity is on AM 900 also this link: http://broadcastmonsters.com/Trinity/football/trinity111706.asx
  8. I've found that laughing until you cry is quite a rush.
  9. As for a prediction, 36-35. Who wins? That depends on whether or not Trinity plays a complete game. By that I mean that it seems like Male takes a lot of chances and can afford a breakdown or two and still bring home a "W". Trinity cannot afford any lapses. They cannot get off to a slow start. They must come out firing on all cylinders. I hope Insight doesn't throw together a slipshod broadcast, because I have a feeling a lot of people will want to watch this one.
  10. It's on AM 900 Also, my T buddy sent out this link to listen on the web: http://broadcastmonsters.com/Trinity/football/trinity111706.asx
  11. One of my very good friend's sons runs CC for St X. (Dad is an X grad also.) Saturday night a bunch of us were out relaxing and the mostly Trinity group kept commenting how St. X "nearly" won the state championship. Even the X friend had to laugh. Congratulations to the Shamrocks.
  12. Supposedly on his one incompletion he intentionally threw the ball away.
  13. My opinion on Mike Glaser's quote: A little lacking in class and a definite slap in the face directed at Trinity. A question for anyone out there who really knows both Glaser and Bob Beatty: Do you think that Beatty would ever say something like that? He's not shy about saying things that might incite, but he seems much more like a guy that, had he been on the losing end of the 10-0 game, would have said, "It is what it is...we would have liked to finish the game, but we'll take the loss and move on. I don't agree with the rule and I'll tell you this - next time there's rain in the forecast we'd better be ready to play from the opening kick." And finally, none of my Trinity friends even talk about the X game anymore. None of my X friends can let it go.
  14. I'm a UofL fan but I honestly think they will fall...38-34. With a healthy Michael Bush they would win 44-31.
  15. GO CATS! Instead of a final score prediction I will give odds: the 'Cats have a 1 in 14 chance of winning this game.
  16. Should he go? :argue: Should he stay? I like Rich Brooks and 2 more wins will secure his job. Way to GO CATS!!!
  17. The priests and brothers made me take Latin...I'm conditioned to root for the Catholics as well. (I do, however, have a soft spot in my heart for B.G. For those who may not be aware, BGHS is about as close as you can come to a private school that is actually public. WKU educators who live in the county still get their children into BGHS. It is the only city high school and viewed by many townspeople as a bit more exclusive than the county high schools.)
  18. T vs. Lex Cath in the finals, so that some fuel can be poured on the Public/Private debate. :jump:
  19. Trinity 49 - Southern 7 T will be looking ahead to round three and that fact won't matter in the least.
  20. X by three touchdowns. Manual on paper should be able to compete better, but they somehow just don't.
  21. Male 45 - PRP 20 I think this game might be played at Papa Johns (?)
  22. I like him and I feel that he is doing an OK job. The fact is 99.9% of all fans have no idea what REALLY goes into coaching a major college football program. You can cheat (Mumme), instill no discipline so long as your players win (John L.) or do things the right way (IMO Brooks). I kind of wish we had gotten him earlier in his career...seriously.
  23. Actually Pine tar too high on the bat has no real penalty anymore other than it must be cleaned off. If a batter gets a hit then the hit stands. This was the fallout from the George Brett incident (after the Royals protested the Brett home run was in fact allowed.) Pitchers, however cannot have the stuff on them while they are pitching. Rogers would have an arguement (though a flimsy one) if he had been in a National League park and had been swinging a bat prior to taking the mound. But there was no extra BP for the Gambler (AKA"Cheater") in Detroit.
