What about in 2 4-team districts? I could see a lot that happening.

How does second-round pairing work when there are 3 teams from one district and just one from the other district advancing to the second round? The rules simply state that the “winners from slots 1 and 2 play and the winners from slots 3 and 4 play.” I don’t know what “slots” mean. So, for example, in Round One (1) Campbellsville gets a bye, (2) Bethlehem beats (3) Webster County, (3) Holy Cross beats (2) Russellville, and (1) Crittenden County beats (4) Ft. Knox. Who plays Holy Cross in Round 2, Crittenden or Campbellsville?

I know that Belfry is used to dominating, but this seems unnecessarily “glass is half empty.” My guess is that they are probably still playing on Nov. 18.

Watched most of this game on FB Live. That pass should have been caught. I thought both defenses gave up a lot of unnecessary yardage on QB runs and draws. Use a spy for Pete’s sake. If PT cuts down penalties, or if this game is played on turf, I think PT wins.

Belfry seems uncharacteristically sloppy.

I’m not sure why either of these teams throw the ball. They get 5-7 yards every run and then inexplicably throw one up. Interception, intentional groundings, bad overthrows, false starts.

David Clark and his Magical Medical Menagerie cruise to the district championship in a game that lasts 90 minutes and makes a lot of grandparents of freshmen happy. No reports of injuries yet, but the night is young.

I think the point he is making is that the teams out west must travel far because there are vast distances of no civilization. Durango goes to Denver because there is almost no one else closer to play.

I'm actually really enjoying the conversation. People in the know on history of school decisions. Good stuff. I saw Greenwood play. Big, swift, aggressive, and smart football players that get good push north-south and pursue well side-to-side. I could see a really good passing attack pick them apart, but otherwise they are pretty fundamentally sound. Lets say it was Bowling Green 21 Greenwood 7, would that be a moral victory?

Doesn't seem to be a lotta luv for Greenwood on this board. I'm not from there so I have no idea. I will say that I've been to recent sporting and school events and camps at South Warren, Warren East, Warren Central, Bowling Green, and Greenwood, and Greenwood appears to be in last place in the "upgrade to facilities" sweepstakes from new property taxation down there. that's an outsider's perspective. I've had two straight years of good experiences at their house with their fans, so perhaps my support for them comes not only from that, Lofton Howard, and an 80-man football roster, but that Greenwood seems treated like the poor relation down there. Maybe its just me.

Agreed. Bardstown had winning teams but very few fans for years. Friday night football games were not the "destination" social event that they once were. We actually brainstormed it here and came up with some ideas to draw more fans: 1) make the concessions, the grill, and other money-making things at games go to individual groups that work it, such as band, off-season teams, etc.; 2) lots of "junior" events that went to halftime performances or the like, such as "junior" cheerleaders, "future Tiger" football night, etc.; 3) flat out ponied up big money for a new turf field, a junior play field behind the goal posts, a substantially upgraded sound system with a DJ, and a light system that flashes on and off purple and gold in tune to the music. Friday night games are now the hopping place to be again. Ashame it has to be that way but that is the world we live in.

A long-time Bowling Green insider and former coach, having seen both teams this year, says he doesn't think Greenwood will beat them, but believes "it should be close." He thinks Greenwood will have trouble scoring.
