Playoff Cross-Bracketing Question

How does second-round pairing work when there are 3 teams from one district and just one from the other district advancing to the second round? The rules simply state that the “winners from slots 1 and 2 play and the winners from slots 3 and 4 play.” I don’t know what “slots” mean. So, for example, in Round One (1) Campbellsville gets a bye, (2) Bethlehem beats (3) Webster County, (3) Holy Cross beats (2) Russellville, and (1) Crittenden County beats (4) Ft. Knox. Who plays Holy Cross in Round 2, Crittenden or Campbellsville?

First round bye for the top seed in the 4 team district that is paired with the three team district.

Here is how it would look for hypothetical districts A and B with the number being the seed. District A is a 3 team district:

Round 1                    Round 2

A1 vs. B4 ................ Winner plays below winner

B2 vs A3 ................. Winner plays above winner

B1 vs BYE ................. B1

A2 vs B3 .................. Winner plays B1

In round 3, RPI comes into play for each half of the state. East side of state is seeded by RPI against the other east teams still playing. West side of the state is seeded against the west teams.

Sometimes if there is a 5 team district somewhere in the state in the same class they will ask the eliminated team if they want to play the top seed that would get a bye. I don’t know if they will be doing that this year but it has happened in the past.

What about in 2 4-team districts? I could see a lot that happening.

In round one, B1 vs A4 instead of having a bye.

That all gets taken care of in round 1.
