Highlands D is improved and I expect Offense improve with more reps. This week will tell a story. Cov Cath has great expectations.

It is my understanding that legendary coach Tom Duffy was in attendance last night. I'm sure that was a nice boost for Coach Barth and Coach Valz, both of whom were members of Coach's state championship teams at Highlands.

Highlands was 5a for 3 years and I don't think they lost a 5a game. This was before being forced to move to 4a. The outcome of a scrimmage doesn't concern me. But, low energy and bad body language does.

Great game. 2 very good teams with excellent pitching. Kid from PRP velocity change was phenomenal. Comes down to a few plays one way, or other. Good luck to PRP. They will be tough for anyone to handle. A lot of speed, and if that kid tonight was there #2, they should be in good shape for next weekend.

Pitched 12 innings on the season and given up zero runs. Doesn't throw too hard, but can throw four pitches for strikes. A lot of pop ups, ground balls and about a strikeout per inning. He is part of a strong 8th Grade Class at HHS.

Turf fields can/do solve a lot of weather issues. Hopefully we will see more and more of these in the area. Would help baseball programs in a big way.

Should be an interesting year for Walton. I hear it will be quite the battle for the QB position. The winner should be able to balance their run dominant attack, and the loser should be able to contribute at another position. I was very impressed with the defense last year, especially their progression throughout the season. Walton returns most defensive starters, though LB Ruber will be tough to replace. A lot of sophomores on the field last year that should be much improved. If the Bearcats can harness the way they finished against a very good Holy Cross team, it could be a landmark season. With the program entering its tenth season, the question remains whether Walton can emerge as a major contender?

Though I agree Bellevue expects more than 3 wins in a year, big wins over Dayton and Ludlow late in the season to secure the 2 seed will carry momentum into the off-season. I have zero idea if he's interested, but to insinuate that Coach McMillen would have no investment in the community and would only be coaching to pad his retirement is shameful.

Feel free for someone with more info, all I could find is this article where WKU was glad $50 million in renovations allowed their stadium to "meet the requirements." I believe the requirements were an artificial surface, which at the time eliminated UK, and an enclosed club level, which eliminated EKU. Below is all I could find. Not true either, neither UK or EKU met both the size and surface requirements set forth at the time. The game needed to be on artificial turf and EKU was not large enough. The requirements at the time were only applicable to UofL and WKU.

Walton will need to shorten the game, and play disciplined all the way through. Holy Cross is a very talented and good football team....A puncher always has a chance.

Fort Thomas Highlands and Fort Thomas Catholic (NC) typically represent well.

Easy on the '91 guys. A lot of good players and guys on that squad. A couple of big injuries on that team (Zink and Gallichio). Had about 8 sophomores end up starting in spots during the year....This year's guys are going through something not seen in most people's lifetime.

Excellent win on the road. Back-to-back shutouts and the offense is hitting its stride. Five different Bearcats score touchdowns, makes it tough to prepare to stop. Big game in Verona on Friday vs. Gallatin County.

Owen has put up some big numbers the last couple of weeks and were competitive with Grant Co. and Henry Co. Walton showed last week that despite their poor showings against the elites in 2A, they have a solid squad. If the Bearcats play to their abilities they should win, but always be leery of a capable opponent on the road!

Looks like another great defensive performance while the offense is making strides. Big matchup versus Lexington Christian this week!

This is Campbell County's second win in two seasons. I will hold off calling this a program defining win. A step in the right direction, yes.

They beat Highlands in 1967. Lost to Mt Sterling in the mud in the playoffs (now Montgomery County).

Wow... Over 200 yards in penalties?! Don't want to hear about refs.. That is lack of discipline.
