Wow talk about upset. I saw OCath play CovCath earlier this year and they were good.

I think SC has a chance to win state, but I don't like LexCath's chances. I have seen both play this year, and SC was by far the better of the 2.

Tierney will play. I don't know about Peter I haven't heard anything. There is already a good number of catchers with Larkin and Farrell, and Sutton would probably be the 3rd option there. I don't know what other position I have seen him play besides catcher.

9 times out of 10 CCH does not lose a 10 point lead. In the same token... 9 times out of 10 Highlands does not put themselves into a 10 point hole. This game will be a battle, I'm looking forward to it.

Played against him a few times. Very emotional on the pitch, i can't say if it's the same way on the court. He has the ablilty to get mad and score 0 goals or get mad and score 5, and yes that did happen once, not against me though.

I bet a lot of teams wish they could just play one half against CCH, and avoid the second half. BTW is that the same Michael Brown... soccer player?

This is true. The winner of the CCH HHS game may be drained for the finals with just 22 or so hours of rest.

^I feel this way also. Dixie has the ability to get hot from 3, as they did in the opening minutes of the CCH game, opening up a 15 or so point lead very early. But they get cold fast and have scoring droughts. This allows teams to creep back in, and CCH did just that.

CCH once again dominates the second half, and pulls off the the easy victory. Refs let a lot of physical play go, which was pretty nice to see.

The first round was not a cleared gym, however the semis the gym will be cleared.

Mcrunch. You said the 9th is "historically weak" in the state tournament. While the 9th never seems to get over the hump and win the whole thing... we definitely compete up here. And I threw out valid points over the past 3 years of 9th region teams doing very well against the state's top teams and almost beating them. The 9th always competes.

CCH's guards will make the difference in this one by forcing turnover after turnover and the Colonel big men step up and Noll goes for 15 pts/8 rebounds. The Colonel Crazies use this as a stepping stone to the other games Friday and hopefully Saturday.

I agree with that one. Although I think I would have been 1 for 2. I thought Holmes would still win this one. Not surprised to see them out, but I just had the feeling they would win. Dixie should make the finals.

My thoughts exactly. 5th region officials, while they might know who you are, are not used to your anticts, which means they will not tolerate you.

I was not at the game so I cannot defend the T or say is was warranted. From seeing the way DJ has played for 2 years, he is very emotional, and at times has trouble controlling those emotions, so it doesn't surprise me. I will agree, however with your second point. Holmes is a run and gun team that thrives in the open court and cannot be stopped by most teams when they are running, especially late in the game. Sounds like they just imploded at the wrong time, also which does not surprise me.

In soccer, they would always read this to the captains, but most refs didn't bother with it. They would simply say to me and my co-captain that we know what is acceptable and what is not, and we would play the game.

Let's recap the past 3 years shall we? Heeeere we go: 2003 - St. Henry steals the 9th region crown from favorite Highlands. Everyone thinks they go down to powerhouse Mason County. SH's big man takes a fall in the first quarter and is unable to return. They lose to Mason County by 2. Mason goes on to win the state championship by 20+. 2004 - Covington Catholic dominates the 9th and goes to Rupp not expected to do much. They turn out to beat a weak Carlisle County team, then somewhat upset power PRP. They lose to Warren Central by 4, after a very very close game, which came down to a classic finish. Warren Central goes on to win later that day by 10 for the state championship. 2005 - Holmes Bulldogs go to Rupp arena after manhandling the Conner Cougars in the 9th region final. They lose to Warren Central by 2 points and Warren Central winds up with a chance to defend their title, losing to a very good South Laurel team. So in 2003, 9th region team loses to state champion by 2. 2004, 9th region loses to state champion by 4. 2005, 9th region team loses to state runner-up by 2. Now, call me crazy, but it seems the 9th region has been doing pretty good as of late in the state tournament.
