Got the score via NKYSPORTS.com. Anyone there?

Wasn't at the game. Unfortunately I had to work. About the right score I was thinking. Good result for NCC. Dixie is no slouch, they have to play hard to win. Nice mini run by the Cougars after a tough tough season. Hats off.

Congrats to NCC, they always play hard and Rob gets everything out of his players every game out. Dixie game has the makings of a classic!

Conner played a great first half but let NCC stick around. NCC was just too much for the Cougars in the second half. Conner scratched and nailed till the end but just didn't have the guns. I give Conner all the credit in the world. A team that had hardly any confidence and hadn't won a regional game all season. To go on and win the 33rd Distict and almost make in to the final 4 of the region is awesome.

 

For the two young men I coached last summer, Alex and Travis. Keep your heads up. You both have shown the region what type of people you are. You never gave up and never complained about a tough situation. You both had a rough senior year but you are both great kids and great ball players.

 

As for NCC they have nice team that will match up well with Dixie. #8, I think he came off the bench played a real nice game tonight. He must have been 75% from the field and didn't seem to miss a shot from inside 15ft. Hes a nice player. Zach Kiernan is a beast and I've been saying it since the summer that he can dominate inside. He had 16pts tonight and a bunch of boards to go along with some great blocked shots. Congrats to the Breds!!

I know both coaches were riding the officials tonight pretty hard, and so was the crowd. But honestly, seriously they were great. They were very consistant and let the teams play on both sides of the ball. I could only think of maybe 1 or 2 questionable calls. I was really impressed. It was nothing like the ticy-tac 9th Region calls. Players were getting hit and pounded, but they let it go and the let it go on both teams.

 

Again I'm wasn't a fan from either team. I'm a honest observer and thought this crew was very good. Even better than the crew who did the second game.

So the 5th region refs are good NKYBOY?

I thought very highly of them and the few people sitting around me that were not NCC fans (unbaised viewers) agreed with me. They let em play. Thats how it should be, if its consistant. The 9th Region officials should watch a video of this physical game. This is how it should be called.

Where did Luke Heil go for NewCath? Did I miss something?

Yes you did. He quit the team last month after the a game. Reasons have been kept quiet and will stay that way. Its a shame because Luke was a nice player and really would help the breds.

Where were the NCC students? I finally saw about 50 of them after the start of the game. I know students don't come out like they used to, but this is the Regional tournament! I was really shocked to see the small student turnout.

I thought the officials in both games did a great job tonight, too. Things were looking good for Conner early, but Kiernan was too much for them. NCC fans, would you say the loss of Heil has hurt or helped the team?

Conner did play very well early with the help of 9 early points from Dowling. But in the 2nd half you could tell NewCath was slowly taking over and before you knew it NCC was up by 10. I like NewCath's chances with Dixie now. After watching both teams play tonight, Kiernan could really do some damage inside vs Dixie.

Not doubting your call. But how does NewCath wear down anyone, they barely play six guys. :confused:

I said eventually they would wear them down with their inside presence of Kiernan...sorry for not clarifying it sandman.
