  1. Two years ago I was at a middle school girls basketball game. After the game was over some guy stepped out on the court and started shooting. I watched him for about ten minutes before I mentioned to my wife, "watch this guy shoot. He is unbelievable." He was crippled up from a car wreck and could barely get his left hand up to help him shoot. He probably made 45 to 50 three pointers while only missing TWO!!! I asked someone who was standing there what his name was nad he said, " ERVIN STEPP". As for my opinion, he's still the best shooter in Kentucky.
  2. Did you see them play? If not how can you say they would have lost 4 or 5 games against CCHS's schedule?
  3. Just out of curiosity, what do you base this opinion on? I mean if it's tradition then JC would have only won 3 to 6 games this year against any schedule, so you can through that out the window.
  4. No disrepect to anyone, but Durham was not even close to the best prospect on that field friday night. 62 was their best lineman and the JC boys wore Durham out all night. He was sucking wind the first quarter.
  5. Rumor has it some D-1 scouts were dining at a local establishment pre-game friday. Johnson and Tackett are starting to get alot of recognition as seniors, but I think some one would be missing out on Tommy Taylor if he didn't get a serious look from somebody. He has really stepped it up the last few games and has the body and speed to play at the next level. Regardless this group, with their sucsess, should open up alot of doors for upcoming recruits from JC. It's not everyday that a team from eastern KY gets a chance to compete with a northern power. Hit them hard, exacute on the LOS, and PROTECT THE FOOTBALL, and you will have a chance to shock the state.
  6. Miller is a very good back. The best we have played against this year hands down! As for the comparison between Grim and Miller, They both have the motor. Miller is a little stronger and Grim is faster. IMO I give the edge to Grim.
  7. I spoke with the Cov Cath scout coaches tonight after the game and I bet when they get back home they will inform them they are about to find a good football team right in the middle of nowhere.
  8. I have a feeling IF we win this game against Rock, this will be the tip of the iceburg when it comes to recognition for these two.
  9. This is Grimm's junior year. Clark's #'s are very good. Like I said before I have never seen him play. That's why I would like to here more from people who have seen them both. Grimm is the best I have seen in highschool. He reminds me alot of Greg Slone, who played for Paintsville in the late 80's. He plays for a much better team though. Which we all know is the key to being a GREAT back.
  10. It is probably true that most JC fans would pick Grimm and most Russell fans would pick Clark (homerism). I would love to here more Ashland fans chime in on this. I realize that Clark is bigger and tough to bring down, but I doubt you will find anyone harder to bring down than Grimm. I have watched almost every JC game and you rarely see one man bring down Grimm and if you don't wrap him up you can forget it. I think both Beach and Blume were faster, but I have never seen a highschool back run with as much heart as Grimm. That's not to say he is better than Clark because I have never seen him play. If you think Grimm can't score in goal line and short yardage situations you have not seen him play. There is no secret he is going to get the ball on the belly in the 3 or the 5 hole and he will get his yards. Ashland was able to stop Blume for the most part. They had no chance at containing Grimm.
  11. Not that we need a motivator, but I was told by an administrator that Ashland called BEFORE the Boyd game to reserve seat for the band for next week. I guess they were confident in both our teams. If I'm not mistaken somebody else brought a band earlier this year and I didn't here them the whole game over the p.a. system.
  12. Grimm had 200+ with 5 td's. I would like to comment on the GREAT game Chase Richardson had blocking. Chase was out at the first of the year and the Eagles rolled but we are a much better team with him in there.
  13. I think Dials is a very good player also, but the list could go on and on. This team is talented on both sides of the ball.
  14. If you are talking about running backs I agree, but my opininion Micheal Tackett LB from JC is the best football player I've seen. Grimm is awsome to watch on every play on the offensive side, but if you know football, and you watch Tackett on everyplay, he is equaly impressive. He plays good on special teams also. I have never seen a kid seem to hit you square while going full speed every play. I get just as much (probably more) enjoyment watching JC's defense as I do there offence. That is a strong unit. They may not win the district. They may not win region, or defeat a team from the north, but this defense will keep them in the game with anyone.
  15. The biggest problem all 57th district teams have is THE DRAW. Matt Fyffe and Justin Blanton are capable of beating anybody, but when you throw in Paintsville's #1 or Lawence's #1 or SC's#1 , it's a crap shoot. IF JC can get into the region that's when pitching depth means everything. I think JC will do very well if they get into the regional tournament. Until then just hope our #1 can stop somebody else's.
  16. Be careful this field seems to get a little wet at the most opportune times. I'll take Ashland with the home field in a squeaker.
  17. I think Ashland / Mason has the makings of a dog fight in the first round.
  18. 28 times for a kid that weighs 165 seems like ALOT. He must be a strong kid.
  19. I can remember three but there could have been more. Ashland, Bryan Station, and Southpoint all had one.
  20. How big is Miller? Anybody got a 40-time?
  21. Those scores are comparable defensivley, 38-40
  22. I heard the same thing, even repeated it to a buddy. Oh well guess I lied.
  23. JC could end up with third place. It used to be the record of the opponents you have beaten.
  24. I feel JC is the cream of the crop in this district, but I thought Ashland would lay down in the second half. With a few exeptions, they did not. Beware of becoming too cocky Eagles you will see a team out for your head next week, and a different Ashland team if we meet again. Remember UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
