  1. I think Dials is a very good player also, but the list could go on and on. This team is talented on both sides of the ball.
  2. If you are talking about running backs I agree, but my opininion Micheal Tackett LB from JC is the best football player I've seen. Grimm is awsome to watch on every play on the offensive side, but if you know football, and you watch Tackett on everyplay, he is equaly impressive. He plays good on special teams also. I have never seen a kid seem to hit you square while going full speed every play. I get just as much (probably more) enjoyment watching JC's defense as I do there offence. That is a strong unit. They may not win the district. They may not win region, or defeat a team from the north, but this defense will keep them in the game with anyone.
  3. The biggest problem all 57th district teams have is THE DRAW. Matt Fyffe and Justin Blanton are capable of beating anybody, but when you throw in Paintsville's #1 or Lawence's #1 or SC's#1 , it's a crap shoot. IF JC can get into the region that's when pitching depth means everything. I think JC will do very well if they get into the regional tournament. Until then just hope our #1 can stop somebody else's.
  4. Be careful this field seems to get a little wet at the most opportune times. I'll take Ashland with the home field in a squeaker.
  5. I think Ashland / Mason has the makings of a dog fight in the first round.
  6. 28 times for a kid that weighs 165 seems like ALOT. He must be a strong kid.
  7. I can remember three but there could have been more. Ashland, Bryan Station, and Southpoint all had one.
  8. I heard the same thing, even repeated it to a buddy. Oh well guess I lied.
  9. JC could end up with third place. It used to be the record of the opponents you have beaten.
  10. I feel JC is the cream of the crop in this district, but I thought Ashland would lay down in the second half. With a few exeptions, they did not. Beware of becoming too cocky Eagles you will see a team out for your head next week, and a different Ashland team if we meet again. Remember UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
  11. That was a hard hitting game, if you don't believe me ask the Ashland coach and the kid on JC's sideline. Glad nobody was hurt but the shot the coach took was pretty funny.
  12. I really thought Ashland played OK tonight . They had a good defensive line but once Grimm got through the line they could not tackle him. The score should have been 42-0. Jc had a touchdown by Grimm called back for blocking in the back five yards behind the play. Ashland's score was on a fourth and long pass that was tipped by a JC defender.
  13. If they see each other it would be in a reagional championship game. I would really like to see it.:thumb:
  14. Thomas didn't show up. Grimm made no bones about who the better back was.
  15. After tonight you can put to rest the Grimm - Thomas debate. Thomas wasn't even the best back on his team, Davis was. Thomas wanted no part of JC's defense. The coaching staff quit giving him the ball. Grimm on the other hand was hit harder tonight than any other game this year and he kept bringing it to the Tomcats. Unless Mason has someone better he is hands down the best in the district. I'm hoping to get to see Miller from Rock
  16. I think this would be a very reasonable poll. If you look at it JC is the only uproven team and could fit in anywhere between #3 and#10. I don't think there is any question in JC's talent. The question is, do they know how to win the big game. Last years team did not do that. Every great program has to start somewhere. Ours is making progress. A win against Ashland would be big for the program. If Highlands, Cov. Cath, or Bowling Green gets beat this weekend people are not going to wonder if they are a fluke or not, they have the respect that JC fans yearn for, because they have taken care of buisness year in and year out. I believe JC should win this game and I believe this will be a step in earning the respect this team is able to demand. It will take at least two playoff wins this year for this team to gain that respect. A regional championship is unheralded at JC, but it is very obtainable. If this team plays to their capability I don't think it will be close. JC45 Ashland 12.
  17. Don't feel bad I did too, and I have had my head in the sand ever since.
  18. Miller from Rockcastle has some impressive stats the last few weeks.
  19. Let's not forget guys they played this week we didn't. I would say by Tuesday we will be looking at multiple pages and warnings of thread closures. Just try to save some ammo till the felines come out to play.:argue:
  20. One of the reasons I started the thread is because of the scrutiny JC has been given over not playing anyone. I know that the records do not show it but personally I thought LC was a very well coached team, moved the ball well at times, and played hard. They were just young and overpowered. I also thought Greenup was a better team than their record showed. LC and GC both gave Ashland better games than they did against JC. From what I was told both were very respectable games until late, then got out of hand. (which is usually what happens when you face a team with more upperclassmen and depth.) The games against JC were just blowouts. I thought LC had a very good chance of beating Boyd County.
  21. That was pretty much what a Greenup fan told me about Putnam also. He said we had a good chance at JC and no chance at Putnam. I believe if our offence is clicking it will get ugly. There are alot of prediction of Ashland scoring close to 30 points against JC. I just can not see this happening. If this team plays like they have been on D Ashland will be LUCKY to score twice on the starters. The key for them will be, can they hold JC? If they can I'll take JC 21-7. If they can't I'll take JC 45-14.
