You're right Harlan could have scored and won that ball game but we'll get to see the game again if both teams get by their first round opponents. Remember BGP is about fun and having something to look at while at work:lol: Back to the topic at hand, I picked the 'Burg to pull an upset this week b/c they are playing well and if they don't turn it over I think they have a shot. Good luck to both teams this Friday on what should be a dry but very cold night of football.

Have they ever done this before? If they have I don't remember it. It is very creative though.

I'd love to see Southwestern do well in the playoffs this year. I hoped they would last year as well. I usually root for a Pulaski Co. team if they are against anyone but my team. I think this might be the year for SWHS to get over the hump. I wish you all luck and hopefully we will have two region champs in Pulaski Co. this year.

He is 6 ft tall and his 40 time is 4.4 and change not sure of the exact 40 time. He is also just a junior so he has more time to grow. He isn't the 6'6" type that some colleges go crazy over but I've seen him jump over a 6'6" kid and grab a ball. I don't really care one way or another if I convince you of anything. I know what letters he is getting and has been getting since last year as a Sophomore. He also has a 4.0 GPA and works hard at sports. What ever college offers him is going to be getting a good deal.

BGP is all about opinions. You are entitled to your own. Although many D1 colleges disagree with you since they are recruiting him pretty heavily. He went to a Notre Dame camp last summer and I heard he was the 2nd fastest WR there. Like I said though, you are entitled to your opinion even though I think its wrong.

Before Metcalfe switched out of the district with Somerset and Danville I don't think they ever even won a district game. When they moved they immediately became a competitor. Yeah, Hancock beat Somerset in the Semifinals in '99. That was because of Mr. Football Travis Atwell other than that year they haven't really competed at a high level.

I don't know about the Somerset defense giving up 32 points. Last time these two played Somerset gave up 28 and 14 points of that was on the JV team. The Somerset defense has gotten MUCH better since early in the season. Just don't see them scoring more than 14.

Somerset won the last meeting but Cumberland has really turned it on as of late. They have also opened up their offense a bit since they last met. Thoughts, predictions?

What exactly is wrong with Beechwood's HB? I heard ankle but is it serious or will he return in the playoffs? I hate to see a good player miss out on the playoffs due to injuries.

The weather played into each defenses favor. As far as this game proving that Harlan can stop Somerset's offense I would say you are right on a very sloppy field. With that said, if Somerset sees Harlan again in two weeks and it is dry then I think Somerset's offense would open up more. By the way Cole only recieved 7 balls thrown his way and he caught 5 of those for 49 yards with one 48 yard touchdown catch called back on a hold that was not even there. I don't know if you can call that shutting Cole down. Also late in that game, Somerset lost Kenny Hughes due to a real bad gash that he had to get stitches in his arm. That seemed to hurt Somerset's running game a bit. It was a good old fashioned football game of running the ball in the slop. Somerset ran it 42 times(which is very unusual). If these two teams meet again on a dry surface it will be completely different. Somerset's offense will be able to open up and Somerset's defense once again stop the predictable Harlan offense. I do think that Somerset is at least 21 points better.(should have been 21 points better last night if not for 2 penaltys) Now all that being said, the boys from both teams last night gave great effort and it was a fun football game to watch. Good luck to both teams in the first round so we can see a rematch.

I'll go out on a limb and say The 'Burg gets Harlan next week 28-21

I heard the administration wanted to push it back due to the fact a big crowd might not show up in the driving rain. It will be played tonight though. Good luck to both teams tonight. Lets wrap this district up.

Somerset- Ross Deaton QB is getting some looks from the likes of Eastern and Western. If he doesn't go there he will definitely be able to play at a Georgetown or something like that. John Wright Polk the kicker at Somerset has been getting looks from D1 schools and 1AA. He has a great leg and if he continues to work at it will be a great addition to anyones college football team. Cam Jones LB is also getting looks from Eastern.

hmmm. Metcalfe lost to Adair co. in week 4 and now they're in the top 10 thats not accurate at all. Frankfort doesn't move above Danville thats kind of odd as well. Oh well, one more week and they can't "pick" who is in the top ten. Playoff time will tell us if these teams in the top 10 are deserving.

I'd guess Somerset by 35 points or more if their offense is clicking. If they double Cole then something else will be open. If they single Cole then he might just have 35 points by himself. Only way I see Somerset losing this game is if they beat themselves.

Lynn Camp could win this game. In order to win they would have to hold on to the ball and get Williamsburg to turn the ball over. Limited touchs by Williamsburg will be the only way that Lynn Camp could win though because they don't seem to have the weapons to score especially from behind.

In one more week the polls won't mean anything anymore. It's almost playoff time and thats when all that arbitrary junk goes out the window.

If you were undefeated then you were the number 1 seed and I know for a fact that Boyle was the number 1 seed since they didn't lose a game there for a few years. Therefore with two number 1 seeds it would go to the even/odd. The way I read it seeding counts. A number 2 seed would have to travel to a number 1 seed even if it was their districts turn to host.
