For those of you that see 310lbs and think....FATTY.....You could not be more wrong...this kid is a very well built man mountain and will be a huge asset back in Russell. We will miss the player and the fine young man that he is....back here at X

I didn't mean bigger kids than we have right now coming...I meant the bigger lineman type kids...as compared to skill size type players.

He also had one heck of a Line coach this year...... Will Wolford....as in NFL Lineman with pro bowl and super bowl appearances. Will might just know a thing or two about blocking.

I share your concerns too Rockmom especially since I have 4 that play football at different levels. I do have a lot of faith in the X training staff though. I am confident that they would run all the tests before sending a young man back out there. X has many of their team managers actually get scholarships because of this professionally run unit. Having a doctor on the sideline is a big plus...besides his high morals, you know that they are not going to risk their reputation/med license/insurance rates/ etc on a game.

You caught us!...we've been trying to throw you off with the whole tradition / work harder / numbers / parent involvement / coaches / ......routine. We did have some big boys this year. I do believe that some bigger kids are looking towards X because of the opportunity to learn under Will Wolford. I know of at least 2 big boys that I know that chose X for that reason. Probably the same reason why a good QB might choose Trinity.

I have to agree....I know of several 8th graders that will impact a Freshman team....but not varsity!

6'5" 310lb Freshman OT Seth Harvey will be transferring after mid terms to Russell. A family move to that part of the state is the reason. Congrats Russell...You are getting one heck of a lineman. Seth anchored a X O-line that posted an undefeated season. He is also on the X Freshman basketball team. We at X will miss this fine young man! We wish him and his family all the best with their move.

It has affected him all year...but really bothers him in the cold. It's nice to know that 2 feature backs will join him next year to help ease the pressure.

If you have something to do with this...keep it rolling so the plans I was told about stay on target! I sent in my $$$.... not to mention that I will have 3 boys there at the same time for 2 years straight.

He said he was considering the whole season not just one game. He even gave your rocks the credit they deserve for a wonderful game...settle down.

He is short, but he is also a player...He scored that second TD on a busted play...He made something out of nothing....A lot of QBs would have been sacked on that play. Doug Flutie was little and a player too.....remember his last college pass? Is Petrino a Flutie or a Brohm?...NO WAY ! but he is only 16 as Rockmom has pointed out. He can still grow....heck I grew about 5 inches when I was 17. Also remember that his Dad is a known offensive master and hard worker....If any of that has rubbed off...Nick could surprise! ALSO....His current QB coach might just know a little about coaching that position.

I have coached in the CSAA for several years and this is the case. In the 3rd and 4th Grade divisions...playing time MUST be equal. For example in basketball...all players must have equal time...The scorer's table keeps track to ensure compliance. There are also several teams so everyone gets to play. No one gets cut at our school. Once again take basketball, We had 27 kids sign up for the 7th and 8th grade team. So we have 3 teams. The 1st team coach picks his team, then the second team, and so forth. They then compete against other 1st, 2nd or 3rd teams. Everyone gets plenty of time this way. Divisions are also set up like KHSAA in A, AA,...etc.. divisions

Freshman D was unbelievable...they scored like 48 points and had 28 INTs

The CSAA is a huge advantage. X also has family oriented traditions that bring the team together: 1. On 2 a days...the players must eat together in the gym. 2. There are Freshman, JV, and Varsity picnics for players and family. 3. There is a STX MOMS club. 4. There are Football parents groups. 5. Top players stand on the sideline at Freshman games and cheer on their younger "brothers". This year, Vic Anderson attended just about every game giving advise and support. 6. Coaches continually preach "for the Team" and not the individual. 7. Players get to design their own "Team Football shirt" There are many speeches and motivational exercises every year...For Example...this year X brought in the young man who plays football...but has no legs. Very moving to a young impressionable high schooler to see this type of drive in someone their age.....takes all the excuses about being tired...or whatever away!

I go to the same parish as one of lead guys for Sullivan & Cozart. He says that work will start on the football stadium as soon as the tennis center is completed. Should be spring2006. He says they will not have it completed for next year's season but should....if everything goes right...be ready in Fall 2007. He also said that they have added 1000 backed seats to the plan. They plan to sell bricks that will make a huge "X" at the football/baseball fields' entrance. These bricks, I believe, will help offset the additional seats. Your name will be engraved on the brick.

I started this thread because of the intense feeling of pride that I felt about this rivalry and how most supporters acted. I was very proud of the young men that played in this game and watched this game and displayed that class that is expected by students of these schools. I am, however, very troubled by some supporters on BGP whose classless attacks in posts and threads are going to over-shadow the great job of the 17 and 18 year old boys who showed un-equaled class. Maybe some of these posters need to go back to school for some more education. You feel that your classless attacks are somehow hurting another school when in fact they are hurting yours. BGPers all over the state are forming opinions of your school/team by your actions!
