  1. I stand corrected... I truly thought Bardstown would win state this year, evidently Mayfield must have a talented squad! Good luck to the Cardinals in A. Congrats to Bardstown, going 13-1 is quite an accomplishment, you all have a lot to show for this season. Bardstown beat some GREAT teams on their way to a state semi game and district championship.
  2. DeSales has GREAT size, a strong hard running back/ a tiny runner back, and they are VERY physical. They are hard players, and they are on a roll. This should be a great game. The Colts keep it pretty simple, and for the most part run straight at you... a lt of power. I have no choice but to root for DeSales, seeing as CAL is in the same district. Represent Louisville and our district well, and bring back a AA state trophy.
  3. I think it was a misprint in the Courier-Journal, thanks for the confirmation Greenwave.
  4. This might sound really weird, but I would have made the prediction that if Western got to play Corbin in this game, Western would have won, but i KNEW DeSales would beat this team in the 2nd game... DeSales figured out what they did wrong and really shut down the big play. Shephard was limited on passing and I'm pretty sure Collins was out(leading rushing in Louisville). Tough break that this was nowhere close. DeSales is a tough team, but the Colts have the line/size/runners to go a long way. Keep playing hard Colts. Congrats to Coach Wright and all the seniors at Western. The "unknown" school off Dixie Hwy really made a name for themselves, great season and best of luck to district champs.
  5. I heard this game was moved to saturday afternoon... anyone know anything about that? I really think there should be some respect given to the players here, not only the best players come from St.X and Trinity, there are PLENTY of great atheletes in Louisville. So what if 4 teams aren't respresented, I know a lot of the guys who will be playing and there are some real studs playing in this game. I agree AllTell about this needing to be played around this time, after December 3rd, it starts to get cold... and by that time most of KY is locked on basketball.
  6. This seems like the year Bullitt East wins AAA state, I think after their win over Boyle, they are ready to play and beat Bowling Green... I will definately not be surprised if BG wins, they have a great squad.
  7. By the play of NewCath last week, I will have to go with them this week. I must admit, I have little knowledge of Somerset, but they obviously must have a good team. I still predict NewCath.
  8. Whoever said Bardstown will get hurt by Mayfields size obviously hasn't taken much of a look at Campbellsville, Holy Cross, and Danville, I'd say in every one of those games they were outsize, horribly, on the line. While Mayfield's out of district record may be better than BHS, BHS has a much tougher district, its a DOG FIGHT every year for the number 1 spot. Its no secret anymore, the fastest team in the state rolls into Mayfield friday night... I'm rooting for the Tigers to goto the Class A state game, and i think they make it to Papa Johns.
  9. Good job NewCath, pretty impressive victory... i thought LCA would win this game, and if they lost it would be close, i was a little off in my prediction. LCA had a great year, good luck to NewCath.
  10. If Collins is back, Shephard has an easy target to get the ball to. Western's defense looked to me as if it had improved a great deal vs. Wayne, I still think that DeSales will put up a bunch, but i think Western can/will do the same... DeSales has more of a "steady drive/disciplined" approach, Western simply can break it at ANY time, Collins isn't the only stud running back on this team, Shephard ran a great option with a clutch fullback to recieve the pitch. DeSales can fall victim to Western's passing attack, they just have too much speed, and if everyone drops back, watchout- Shephard can scramble for a bunch. I'm rooting for the Warriors in this one.
  11. I stand corrected, well then they definately have a bright future, just need to recruit some big boys to sweat it out in the summer.
  12. Rockmom, for what its worth, I'd like for Western to win vs. DeSales...
  13. About 7 played special teams, but kick off return was mostly reserves, and punt had some too, but punt return was the defense and kickoff was all starters. This year if I'm not mistaken, for SURE 8 played both ways. Offense had a few different linemen, but the backs stayed in pretty much the whole game, the only time they got a break was when recievers would run plays in. The reserves really only had opportunities to get in on special teams, but truly, I'd estimate that only about 18 guys played consistantly.
  14. I agree that girls dont belong, but I find football just such a MASCULINE sport. Its just always been that boys play football. I know that N. Bullitt had a girl kicker, (I'm pretty sure... and getting a solid girl from the soccer team wouldn't be too bad of an idea if the boys team was flat) I don't think that this is the same as guys who cheerlead, football is just a man's game in my opinion, but yes girls are entitled to play.
  15. In my opinion, St. X can honsetly not be stopped, tigers roll.
  16. RiceMountJoy, i totally agree. I personally think that if Holy Cross wasin any other district, they would be regional champs, or atleast be playing for it every year. I know that in recent years Holy Cross has made some questionable unconservative play calls, but these games have been INCREDIBLY close and the Cougars can never get over the hump.
  17. Western was without Collins, and #81, a good linebacker. Wayne's 2 300+ lineman caused problems, and Steele gave them problems with scrambling. I think Western picks it up...
  18. Cougars are CURSED!!!!! The boys on Dixie Highway can't get over that hump, no matter how hard they try. Good job Admirals, you got a tough one this week.
  19. AA. Western, CAL is the only team in their district to beat them, I have a tremendous amount of respect for Wright and what he has done at Western. I saw them at Papa Johns, vs. DeSales, vs. Wayne Co. and personally when i strapped it up and played them at their place. They have some great kids and I'm pulling for the unknowns in Louisville, and the state.
  20. Chistian Academy of Louisville has atleast 8-9 guys going both ways, about 31 guys on the roster, including sophomores, makes for a pretty thin group. We always would joke about how nice it'd be to only play one-way...
  21. Western was without #81, a good linebacker, and Louisville's top running back, Justin Collins, his anckle was hurt in practice. Pretty much... Western was down a little. Look for Western's back to light it up. Shephard is a great qb, simple scheme, run 4 fades, hit the open man 50 yards down field after he blows his man from the line of scrimmage. Western's defense is definately a weakness. If DeSales, gets up, stays up, and doesn't allow a big play, they move on. If Western plays hard, gets fired up, stays in it, and makes big plays ( which they WILL do ), they win. I think Wright and his boys fight hard and pull an upset. Warrior fans better hope Collins is back.
  22. I was planning on seeing Male vs. St. X this friday... bummer! I also picked Male to win state in the preseason, tough break for the bulldogs. I think St. X knocks off JHHS this week though.
  23. Rebels know how to play in the playoffs.... I'm picking the boys at Bullitt East, i think they are not only regional champs, but AAA Champs.
  24. I'm surprised about Bardstown coaching staff... they definately do have a special group of kids. I didnt know how much of an uphill battle this was for FHS, i was thinking this was more of a veteran squad, especially at the running backs. Congrats on a great year.
