Play 2 Win
Are there any of the bigger schools that don't have anyone playing on both sides of the ball? I know Ft Thomas used to not have anyone or maybe very few that played both ways...Is that still true? Of the 22 offensive and defensive positions, how many players on your high school team actually start?
leatherneck
It's still true at Highlands. About the only one on Highlands team that starts both ways is Guidugli and that's not always the case. When he does start both ways, he gets a whole lot of breaks (mostly on defense, but some offense also). For a while they had one of the guard positions filled sometimes with a starter on defense, but with Andrew Roller's very good lineplay of late, they aren't even doing that anymore. So the only one is Guidugli and that's not all the time. Petracco and Shisler will play some o and some d, but again, there is a whole lot of subbing going on. No one plays anywhere close to the whole game on o and on d.
strongopenyon
Henry Clay attempts to two-platoon, but we are seeing more players playing on both sides of the ball at playoff time.
defense1st
This is a great way to give many kids a chance to play= more kids who will come out for the team. I know that this is impossible in many cases. But if you can you will have more fresh players than your opponets. Especially important at this time of the year. Brewsky
I felt Henry Clay needed to play more offensive players on D. It seemed the majority of their talent was on O
Play 2 Win
I wonder what impact playing both ways versus only one way has on a long season. Does HHS have an advantage over Lex Cath in this matter? How many kids does Lex Cath going both ways? Are they more banged up and more tired over the long season? MountainThunder
Most of the teams I have seen this season play several kids both ways. This includes teams from 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A. There aren't too many teams who can platoon everyone and not have any 2 way players.
Green Nation
Owensboro Catholic almost exclusively plays one way. Maybe 1 lineman but he is platooned.
DoggyDawg
You put your best play makers on the field, even if that means they play both ways. They may not play every down, but if the game is on the line there out there making plays. This is my philosophy when it come to this topic. Rock Kid
Rockcastle starts 10 both ways. only one is our left tackle.
CENTURION
Chistian Academy of Louisville has atleast 8-9 guys going both ways, about 31 guys on the roster, including sophomores, makes for a pretty thin group. We always would joke about how nice it'd be to only play one-way...
Play 2 Win
So with 8-9 or 9 kids playing both ways and 4 or 5 other kids covering the rest, thats only 14 players. How many kids see the field at all?
4chs
Corbin had six playing both ways. Four were seniors and two were sophomores, so they will have eight spots to fill next year.

CENTURION
About 7 played special teams, but kick off return was mostly reserves, and punt had some too, but punt return was the defense and kickoff was all starters. This year if I'm not mistaken, for SURE 8 played both ways. Offense had a few different linemen, but the backs stayed in pretty much the whole game, the only time they got a break was when recievers would run plays in. The reserves really only had opportunities to get in on special teams, but truly, I'd estimate that only about 18 guys played consistantly.
