Dayton 56 Owen County 0
Didn't Dayton and Owen play last year?

2026 Cincinnati Bengals
Well we typically do get one more heat wave that still comes in during September. As far as I know they won't can't or delay a game that the heat is at 97 degrees in the NFL. So sounds like the Bengals are interested in getting their guys acclimated to the heat to give them a better shot at being ready for games possibly in the heat.

St. Henry 43 Bishop Brossart 40
So you believe Brossart has more talent than Boone and Holy Cross? I don't see that, but as you said it is early in the season and the best part is the games will be played and will get to know more about each team. I think this will be a close one and wouldn't be shocked at all if either team won, but would be shocked if it is a running clock type game as you and another poster seem to think.

Cooper 11 Ryle 0
With the heat this week, the old 730 start time probably would have been better.

St. Henry 43 Bishop Brossart 40
St. Henry was not running clocked by either Holy Cross or Boone County. Do you believe Brossart is that much better and has that much more talent than both Holy Cross and Boone County, for why now suddenly St. Henry wouldn't be able to match up well with Brossart?

St. Henry 43 Bishop Brossart 40
I see a close game in this one, with St. Henry winning this close game after losing a close one last week.

Let's go!! Who Dey!!

Highlands 42 Covington Catholic 0 (Frosh)
Is that the play that is being talked about in regards to being dirty and hit "five yards" out of bounds? If it is, then I don't see to much there. The contact initially happened inbounds, as the QB even was trying to stay in bounds, until the guy in question took him out of bounds. Maybe there was a slight little push with one hand at the end. However, even that really wasn't much.

Can you fix the link? At least on my end nothing shows up.

Kentucky Wildcats 2026-2027
With the SEC coming up with their new rules last night, now it is up in the air again if he will be eligible.

Highlands 45 Cooper 6
I think this is an interesting game on multiple fronts, and will tell us more about both teams As I am really high on Highlands, and feel like zero reason why this team shouldn't be playing in the state title game this year. Which going into this game Highlands has some top dudes, while Cooper I don't believe has that this year. So I wouldn't be surprised if Highlands wins by a pretty good margin. As they probably should be able to with the amount of top talent they have this year compared to Cooper. While on Cooper, I believe they have a team that still has a good chance to win their district again this year. So this game if they are competitive, will let us know more about if Cooper could possibly even do more, and make some noise in 5A or not this year.

2026 Cincinnati Bengals
From how Chase was talking after practice and how he even stayed out there after. I don't think there is a plan to get an MRI, as Chase and Bengals both didn't seem to concerned with it. With that said, I would do an MRI just to make sure its fine and not something that could lead to a bigger injury.

Covington Holy Cross 41 Bracken County 6
Holy Cross wins by 4 or more scores.

Bengals 16 Lions 14 (Preseason Game #1)
So essentially he ranked last out of starting offfensive tackles as there are 64 starting tackles. Yet better than backups based off that. However, it gets back to my question whom should they have replaced him with then? While also keeping in mind how the Bengals leave their tackles on islands more than anymore else. This is also from Google: Orlando Brown Performance and Metrics Volume and Load: Handled the most pass-blocking snaps (733) and one-on-one pass-blocking isolation reps among all NFL tackles tracked by analytics. [1] PFF Grading: Received a 62.0 pass-blocking grade, ranking 63rd among 89 qualifying tackles, while allowing 46 pressures and nine sacks over the course of the season. [] Strengths: Utilizes his enormous size, length, and improved vertical set technique to anchor against power rushers and absorb bull-rushes. [1] Weaknesses: Lacks elite lateral agility, making him vulnerable to explosive speed rushers who can bend the edge or force him into committing penalties. [1] Context and Outlook The Workload Factor: Supporters and Brown himself argue that his raw numbers lack context because the offense left him exposed on an unusually high rate of isolated, one-on-one dropbacks. [1, 2] Basically what the Bengals ask of their tackles is the hardest in the NFL and isolate them more by themselves than anyone else. I agree Brown is probably their weak link on the line. I just think we probably would have ended up with someone worse who would struggle even more with what the Bengals want from their tackles. So it seems the answer may lie more with the Bengals changing their scheme up some to help their tackles a little more especially Brown, rather than replacing him.

I think Dayton and Ludlow will surprise some people this year.

BluegrassPreps.com 2026 Class 5A Pre-Season Rankings
Elite throughout all the last 25 years? While I agree the majority of those years you would be right. However, looking at the last 5 seasons they have had a 500 season and also a below 500 season. Also in that time frame they didn’t just have close November losses that finished their seasons. 3 of the last 5 years they lost in the post season by 41, 28, and 25 in three of the last 5 seasons. Now the other two seasons they did make regional championship appearances and had close losses though. Obviously just nit picking here. As the majority of the teams in the state would love to have had the same success as Scott County the last 25 years and even the last 5 years. Even though I wouldn’t call a few of those years elite like you did. However, I do agree with you that I think they will make it to state this year.

They played 3 varsity quarters with the score being 20 to 6.

Bengals 16 Lions 14 (Preseason Game #1)
A lot of promising things from last night. I think the rookie class showed really well too.

Bengals 16 Lions 14 (Preseason Game #1)
To add on more about Brown at left tackle. Who do you all think they should have or could have replaced him with that would been an upgrade? Keep in mind the Bengals traded their first round pick for Dexter. Is Brown the weak link on the line? Yeah probably. However, as I mentioned it is a lot easier to get worse at that position than get better if you moved on. Not to mention a lot of rankings had the Bengals as having a top 10 pass blocking line heading into this season, based off how this 5 performed the second half of last year.

Bengals 16 Lions 14 (Preseason Game #1)
KC has been struggling at the tackle position even more since he left. They finally used to use a first round pick on a tackle a year ago, since they were struggling to replace him. Is he great nope, is he bad nope. The biggest thing to me is it’s a lot easier to get worse at that position, than it is to find someone better than him.

2026 Highlands Bluebirds
While I agree with you that this may finally be the year that they win it. To be fair though, similar stuff has been said for the last 3 seasons about Highlands, and they have fell short the last 3 years even with being loaded with talent those years too. So it will be interesting to see if they can finally do it, after coming short with teams the last 3 years that people thought could have too and were saying similar things about. To me the big piece that may make this year different, is their QB. They have had really good high school QB's these last few years, but Armstrong is just simply different. Having a QB like him gives them the shot to change the momentum in game back in their favor with just one play, even when things may not be going well.

Scott County 28 Campbell County 0 (Scrimmage)
Scott County definitely is one of the favorites in 5A. The big question for them is can their defense hold up in the playoffs. As in the last three years in the playoffs when they have had their season ended they have given up 45, 45, and 49. If their defense can hold up on their end, it could be a special year for them.

Any info on how this scrimmage went?

Beechwood 24 Ryle 0 (Scrimmage)
Right now I think you can toss up like 6 names and any one of them could be number 4. You have Highlands, CovCath, Beechwood and then the rest.
