Actually state legislature set the rule and Ky Revised Stature on the matter. It was not the KHSAA who had the call here but our lovely elected officials who felt they needed to determine the matter

Nope saying since press box and permanent dugouts are structures that would require plans submitted and approved by state that adds $$$ to the process.

Title IX issues come into play as they can't always have girls state tournament vs first week of NCAA's. Hated the new programs. HATED!!!!

This point in the debate cracks me up for its absurdity. I am sure neither Highlands nor Trinity feels any of their football state championships are "cheapen" because they didn't beat the other during their championship run. Trinity or Highlands fans do ypu view your state championship as a not real state championship?

Title IX audit showed baseball field at Southern was in deficit state compared to softball field. Press box, permanent/brick dugouts, and lights that softball had, baseball did not. Field behind High school has the first two but not latter. In adfition, the field behind high school was established as the permanent home for baseball. When renovation on the high school began 4-6 years ago, move to Southern had to be made because of safety issues as that area was staging area for construction. The plan has always been for baseball to return to that site. As principals, ads, and coaches changed that return had been forgotten. When new Super began the discussion of field improvements that nugget came back to light. Add in the fact that a move back addressed two of the Title IX deficits and it became an obvious decision. It saved thousands for a financially strapped district AND meant didnt have to spend extra by getting Frankforts approval for building permanent buildings on school property.

I would say the players who have won state champuonships have liked it but its not like high school sports are supposed to be about the kids or anything.

So your child is playing for a classified state championship and you would boycott watching them play for it!???

I have sat beside Brossart parents before in the stands during games who are yelling similar things at the coaches. On a side note, There is alot of irony with this whole situation with negative comments towards Coach Kitchen. What's the old saying what comes around goes around.

I had heard that the Horse Park has a basketball floor that can be put down in their arena. Not sure of seating but would be easy drive for both ends of region.

No commentary on whether she is best in state just explaining the award. ImO, she has been the best player in the state tourney. Also, to help possobly ease your indignation, they just handed out the POY awards. From the POY recipients, all seniors, they introduced the five that are finalists for Miss Basketball. BOTH, yes BOTH, Sydney and Jenna ARE top 5 finalists for Miss Basketball. That honor has not yet been announced.

There were some interesting inconsistencies between the associations. The 16th calling taunting closer that resulted in the T's on players were one. Btw, would love to see that called more. The 10th/11th do not allow assistants to stand and do much let alone yell at the officials. The 16th allowed assistant coaches to stand throughout the game. That is a big NO NO during the season from 10th/11th officials. Would have been more technnicala on assistants if they tried on BBA officials what they got by with on 16th officials.

Encourage her to talk with the coach. This is one of the life lessons that sports teaches. Later in life, she will need to talk to a professor or boss and the confidence to handle those times is derived from these moments. Golf could be seen as using a numbering system as your players are 1-5. You want to play as #1, shoot a lower score than them. Let's say your daughter plays 2b and the starting 2b is a few spots above her. She now knows who and how far she has to go to get that starting 2b spot. Key is talking with coach and find out from the coach what she needs to do that. If daughter wont do that, then it falls on her.
