  1. Wasn't the Fugate one of the kids who quit last season who at the time was playing the point? Kids demanding a certain position or they will not play sounds interesting....I personally prefer those kids who have the heart and desire to want to play for the love of the game versus those that only want what they think is best for them. A good coach IMO plays to win by maximizing the talent pool within the team that he/she may have while maintaining the proper chemistry among the players.
  2. Hazard played like a well oiled machine. KUDOS to Cordia as they gave it their all. Great season for such a small school. Good luck to Hazard!
  3. PCC over Breathitt by double digits
  4. I have been totally impressed with the Wallen kids performances as of late. Good win for Somerset!
  5. I agree that the Owls have made much overall improvements under coach Noble and his staff and the future does look more promising but the facts at the end of the season IMO do not justify a "great season". When "great" becomes winning 5 games a year and losing 21, ranking 4th in the seeded district and losing the 1st game in post season play there are some issues. I think the more operative word would have been an "impressive" final game IMO.
  6. PCC is a diffrerent team right now as is Powell. Earlier, Powell had the positive momemtum and it has left as a tougher schedule has approached. PCC's momentum has shifted positively to following the coaches expectations. Both teams will be tough for post season IMO.
  7. Knox played well...The score surprised me when you look at past scores and wins that Corbin has put up thus far this year.
  8. I was impressed w/ Lee. Hazard did not play their best and was primed for an upset. Good job on the effort that the Bobcats put forth. I was glad to see thes two schools play tonight...a lot of games got cancelled which is going to make the rest of the tournament tough for who ever comes out.
  9. Coaches come and they go....when you talk about the love of the game and the countless hours a coach dedicates to his team it is apparant that either 1. administrators are not equal to work with/for from a coaching perspective while some are more athletic minded and understand all factors while others it pains to be around any sport and who want to maintain total control within the school or 2. sometimes apparant better opportunities come around that make the move from one job easier than staying. Politics( that is what we call things that don't go the way we think it should) is directly involved in every school in the state which often adds another element to the whole coaching senerio...being able to work with the administrators within a school district. Coaching is a tough job!
  10. I hope that the coaching drama in Owsley like has occurred in the past years(boys and girls) settles down so that the attention can focus on the student athletes...not adults.
  11. Great ballgame..Powell really played well down the stretch. What is the 56th district standings? Where is the District played at??
  12. Very good ballgame to watch. The two new kids really make them a contender in the 14th. Hazard maybe the most athletic team in the 14th along with the most experienced coaching staff IMO.
  13. Good job Owls...nice ralley in the 4th quater. According to the paper this AM they were down 11 going into the 4th. Outscoring an opponent 29 to 13(16 points)in one quater is impressive. Any stats??
  14. IMO....I feel that the choice to stay of go has been left up to the coach...not inside pressure. Better/various opportunities, more control over the program, travel time to and from Owsley County all play a role in the decision for a coach to stay or go at Owsley.
  15. Coach Noble is going through similar coaching situations that those numerous coaches before him went through. He will do fine and IMO he will build a competitive program in the future. The "faithful" know what he and a lot of other coaches in the 14th go through in the course of a season because of their knowledge of the competitive nature of the sport and variables affecting the success of the team(s).
  16. I guarentee those kids at Owsley feel as if right now they can beat anyone on a given night and to me that would put them in the middle of the pack of in my opinion is a "down" region that does not have one or two dominant teams as what has been present in the past.
  17. I agree. If I am not an avid 14th region fan and want to come an see a game it has been extremely difficult to see actual brackets and where a team actually plays. Thanks to this forum
  18. Stamper, Crowe, and Gilbert give the Wolves an advantage that they did not have earlier in the year... athleticism, skills, size, and an extra ability to score. I predict that the wolves will win in a close one 64-60
  19. Observations: 1. Third game this week for Lee only second for the owls. 2. Pending Owls stay out of foul trouble they win. If anyone gets into foul trouble Lee will be the favorite 3. Momentum is swinging in the favor of the owls 4. These boys would have been very young in the late 90's so I'm wondering how much they remember about all of the excitement that winning the 14th region All A brings? They might not know or remember but the community will. 5. There is no pressure on these kids..expectations have been subpar all year and they are unconsciousness to those expectations which will benefit the owls. 6. In earlier games vs. lee the owls youthfullness will not impact performance(losses by 13 and 19). 7. Lee is position to positon bigger and probably more athletic...they lack the true go to person. when they need a basket...Owlsey has Smith and Neeley with nerves of steel to take and make the game winner. 8. Two weeks into the his season Smith has brought to this team the senior leadership that they have lacked throughout the year. 9. Beating a team for the third time in a season is tough...regardless if you've been beat by double digits both times. Prediction= Owsley 60, lee 55
  20. Great win coach creech and the wolves! A lot of teams are playing their best going into the semifinals....wolfe, owsley. lee......sounds like the old 56th district are making some noise
  21. As a fan from the 13th I remember the atmosphere she left at our school...at the beginning of the 3rd quarter the refs had to get her girls to stop shooting the 1/2 court shots to get the game started. It was a joke. Her team was down like 25 points and they acted as if they could care less. I was amazed when I found out that she is now a principal at Owlsey. Any relation to why the Owls have only won 3 games this year ?
  22. What about the crowe kid now playing at Wolfe?
  23. The middle school hasn't ever been mention negatively unitl situations such as this year occur. Facts: 1. Breathitt is a football district 2. Consolidation hasn't hurt in the years that breathitt won the 14th region, state f-ball championships,etc... 3. Problem....consistant player development of younger players on the freshmen, jv and varsity teams for them to gain valuable experience and play against better competition.
  24. These two teams played earlier in Dec. with J.C. getting hammered at Green-up 79-52. Does changing the place at which teams play have a 27 point difference?? WHO officiated from the 14th in this game?
