Wolfe Co. 75 Owsley Co. 67

Sloppy at times. Wolfe had a 15 point lead in the second half but Owsley cut it down by playing hard in the final 2 minutes.

Just about what I figured! Owsley is struggling and with all the seniors on this team the future looks a little shaky. Will the Owl faithful be patioent enough for Coach Noble to build a program. The next couple years look thin. The eighth grade team had a good year and looks solid for the future.

Coach Noble is going through similar coaching situations that those numerous coaches before him went through. He will do fine and IMO he will build a competitive program in the future. The "faithful" know what he and a lot of other coaches in the 14th go through in the course of a season because of their knowledge of the competitive nature of the sport and variables affecting the success of the team(s).

I like Coach Noble and hope he gets a chance to stay, but the faithful haven't shown much patience the last few years. Coach's come and go yearly at Booneville and to build a program there needs to be stability.

IMO....I feel that the choice to stay of go has been left up to the coach...not inside pressure. Better/various opportunities, more control over the program, travel time to and from Owsley County all play a role in the decision for a coach to stay or go at Owsley.

Totally agree that these are factors. But there have been many other factors and the drive time was not the only factor recently. Just give him a chance and don't expect quick turnarounds. I think we agree Coach needs some time.

It's December--and you are talking about coaches leaving or staying. Owsley County has high expectations ---and so does Coach Noble. Anyone that knows basketball knows the Owls --even though the roster is composed mostly of seniors--currently have limited resources for guard positions and lack of experience in other positions. McIntosh did not play as a 10th grader--Reed did not play much in 10th and 11th grade--Evans is only a sophomore with limited experience handling the ball--but a lot of athleticism. A good point guard would make the Owls --IMO a winning team.--without one--they will struggle-- And by the way--Coach Noble is a class act ---he has proven he can win at the middle school level--and he will do the same at the high school level in Booneville given time---Keep the faith Owl fans, players and coaches!!!! Good things will come to those who are committed and dedicated to doing their best.

What are you implying with this statement? What were the other factors? You seem to know more than most.

PM me and I will discuss privately. Nothing major but other factors

You must have someone that has the dedication and energy to build a program. I don't believe "the faithful" have run off any "Great" coaches--Charlie Turner, Larry Sparks and Tim Bobrowski stayed as long as they wanted and moved on to achieve other goals. In the most recent case--who could fault someone receiving an offer of advancement and thus leaving for ---a Grade 10-12 school of 1400 students with the potential for a slightly higher level of talent than a high school of 250 in grades 9-12.

No one is blaming anyone here just lobbying for enough time for Coach to establish a program. But if the recent past is an indication something is not working. I am sure when a coach is hired the thought is more than a season. So I do not know where the problem lies, just hope Coach Noble changes the recent past.

How about the JV team this year? The previous 3 years of JV teams-- of which all of these seniors were members--had not won a single game in 3 years based on information from "the faithful". So I don't know why you think this year should be good for the Owls --just because there are a lot of seniors on the team. Being a senior does not automatically assure you basketball talent/potential. Coach Noble's JV team has won 3 or 4 games out of the 5 played thus far--that tells the story of Coach Noble's coaching ability. And probably the story of why coaches have come and gone for the past few years.

If you look at the predictions for this game I said Wolfe by 10. that is what I meant by just about what I figured. Just stating if this senior laden team which is about 95% of the playing time is not having success the next couple years don't look bright either. I like this group of seniors, McIntosh is a handful and Reed can light it up some nights. I am not sure what I said that has hit a nerve.

Owsley isn't a bad team. Coach Noble will do a fine job but, there is a difference in being a good middle school coach and a good high school coach. I agree with BBall king when he says that Noble needs a chance. Parrett IMO would've won a lot of games but got hit with some bad luck with the departure of Neeley and Reed early in the season. Then with the news of Congleton leaving for Breathitt or Lee early in the summer. he was sure to leave with just about any offer. I also agree with SFFL Noble is a class act. This team has all the ingredients to win, I don't believe it is bad guard play that has this team in turmoil right now. I believe this team is a little selfish and when that's gone you'll see the W's racking up.

I've heard that J. Pierson quit this team a week or so ago. Did he play vs. Wolfe Co?
