Owls split with the Wildcats this year.

Good job Owls...nice ralley in the 4th quater. According to the paper this AM they were down 11 going into the 4th. Outscoring an opponent 29 to 13(16 points)in one quater is impressive. Any stats??

McIntosh was off a little but the first one all year for him, still had 10+. Evans had 18 off the bench and getting more playing time because of hustle plays. T. Murrell got into foul trouble early but has hustled every game all year and looks to be earning more playing as the year goes. The 2nd team in of the younger players seem to really be able to press and that was the difference in the 4th. Coach Noble is starting to look at the younger boys looks like and the results are showing.

Menifee really took it to the Owls and out hustled all game but seemed to tire late in the 3rd and all through the 4th.

Owsley is 3-7 and Menifee is 1-10

Can Owsley compete with Lee,Powell and Estill. They were runners-up in the district last year and made a surprise trip to the regional tournament.

Estill beat them handily in Booneville, by 19. But they competed with Lee County, trailing only by 4 points with about 1 1/2 minutes left in the game before losing by 9. They haven't played Powell County yet.

 

With the exception of Estill County, no one has really blown Owsley County out of the gym this year. Most of their losses have been in the 3 to 10 point range. If they can cut down the turnovers and shoot a little better from outside, they can turn things around.

 

I think the Owls will be much better by tournament time. New coach, new adjustments, etc.., should iron themselves out by that time.

As of now, I would say Estill is the easy favorite for this district. Depending on the seeding, the two teams who stay away from Estill will have the better chance at going to the region. Don't get me wrong, Estill can be beat, but this is how I feel at this point of the season.

Estill has established themselves as the early favorite in the 56th. Lee County is not as good as expected. Powell has shown signs of being a real good team and Owsley is still adjusting to a new coach. But alot of things can change by tourney time.
