Was a figure of speech - if the PG had had his usual game and would have played more than the 10 or 11 minutes he was limited to because of foul trouble the outcome might have been different. Berryman and Christopher are both averaging over 20 points for the season. Berryman had 27 and Christopher had 23.

Estill will be there come tourney time. They gave up way too many layups, were confused on defense at times and their point guard was in foul trouble all night. He played only 12 minutes. If he gets his average it is a tie ballgame. So with a few adjustments on defense and a couple players stepping up on offense, Estill is right there with Lee. Then throw in Powell and it looks to be wide open in the 56th in my opinion.

Like a legitimate low post threat! Dixon was a great player but not a back to the basket low post player - that is what the Engineers were missing.

From what I can recall 4 of those 7 losses came from Lee County a team that had one of if not the best record in the 14th. All four of those losses were under 10 points with the last coming in the district championship where a heartbreaking Free Throw miss with 4 seconds left did the Engineers in. Another loss came to June Buchanan in the regions who took Hazard to double overtime in the semifinals. They lost to Hazard in Double Overtime where a phantom double dribble call was their undoing. Can't recall the other loss, but they faired quite well in my opinion.

The debate is entirely unnecessary. The fairest way for all schools is a rotation. As a former player and a current coach - I will be the first one to tell you that there is an advantage to playing at home - PERIOD. It could very well push a team over the top. The debate is not whether Montgomery is large enough it is whether a rotation should occur. If a rotation were to occur, then Montgomery would be in it - PERIOD.

The main ingredient from last season was the inside game - they will have to switch gears because their guard play is stronger than their post play this season

I agree with three of Lee's seniors would start most anywhere in the region. Estill is more than just Berryman and Christopher. They have a group of youngsters that are working very hard from what I hear. They are very much a team and will have to be this year - more so than in the past. They like Lee, Powell, and Owsley are all searching for the right recipe for that district title. The good thing about a new year is that everyone starts from scratch and the last year doesn't matter. Everyone is 0-0 and I think it will be a very competitive district. I don't think any of these four teams are going undefeated in District play like Lee did last year. It will be an exciting year in the 56th.

But they have 4 of their top 7 back and are hungry and young. Maybe too young to realize that in other peoples minds they shouldn't contend

From the sound of that statement I'd say you are right - a BIG difference in EGO.

Just came over here from the bball board. Estill County is a school where kids are trying to do the best they can with what they have. The Coaches are doing the same. Quit bashing the kids and the coaches. I know two of those 62 wins in basketball have ended Clark County and Powell County's seasons. In basketball - it is the second season that counts - you can win 20 games in the regular season and lose in the first round of districts, or you can use the regular season as a tool to get your team ready for postseason. In both Football and Basketball at Estill the Coaches care about the Kids - not how many wins they have accumulated in their coaching careers. That is not true in many of the counties in Kentucky today. I know Coach Jones and he is not as concerned with wins and losses as you are - he wants to help at risk kids. I know the boys basketball coach well - he certainly is not so insecure as to worry about how many REGULAR SEASON games his boys win. He wants to teach them life lessons and to fight iand compete in every thing they do.

All of these contacts are verified except the D-1's He has been contacted by 25 or more small schools, but all too far away. He will be a fine college player and he is a great young man.

Estill used 3 different defenses switched on a regular basis, and the tempo was hardly Run and Gun. I'm sure the coach was trying not to let JBS get set up into the zone which they never came out of, and which neutralized Dixon's inside game somewhat. Dixon got 15 shots, and that is hardly not utilizing him. Bottom line, Estill contained Stepp and Cox and Conley beat them by hitting 3 big treys in the final quarter. No excuses, JBS beat Estill. Coaching is easy to do from the stands.:thumb:

Sometimes a players contribution doesn't show up in the box score. Good defensive teams key on the best players. Good players defer to their teammates when double teamed. It is a team game and you can have a good game and score only 3 points. I'm glad the games are played on the court and not on BGP :madman: One game at a time Estill
