Columbia was 9-0 and ranked 6th 4a in Florida when they played (They also have 2 wins against Gainesville High) The Memphis School was Wooddale - not Sheffield as posted on the site - They have won over 50 games the past 2 seasons - They are also 4a It is easy to look at the games on paper - the game is played on the floor!

He is a smart heady player. Strong with good hands, and great post moves. His shot is developing, and he is a legitimate NAIA/D2 player.

Whoa, Big fella! The Bobcats still have to beat Estill to get the #1 seed. I wouldn't want to play the Engineers either.

Agreed Estill is gaining confidence with every game, and seems content with flying under the radar.

Brossart is very good. Lee will have to play well to compete. A Lee Co. win is not out of the question.

When you have more guns, you shoot more bullets - simple as that. If you are outgunned then you have to make your shots count

One guard, one forward - Reese really helps bring the ball up and throw over the press - he was missed. Puckett is a great defender and presents matchup problems. He was missed as an extra defender on Gilbert and extra offense.

Estill has played games in the 50's and games in the 90's They take what teams allow them to take. Remember 2 starters were out.

Helton is a nice inside player.

Are you kidding me? Some games are games you can run and get up and down, some games are half court. Adjustment is the name of the game in basketball. Adjust to your opponent, adjust to your personnel.

Hoover and Cackling from Estill - Cackling is their 6th man, and Hoover plays quality minutes on Varsity

I know Dixon had 32 and 13 boards. I think I heard someone say that Gilbert had 40 and 9. Berryman had 26, Christopher almost had a triple double - 1 assist and 2 rebounds shy. Stamper added 15 for wolfe.

Wolfe came out fired up, but Estill showed good composure without 3 of its top 7 varsity players. 1 was out with a back injury, 1 suspended, and 1 with an ankle injury. Gilbert is very good. Dixon is right there with him. Both are college caliber players. Both have great on court demeanors - great attitudes! Estill held serve tonight when they could have folded. They have now won 7 in a row. By the way - I think the count was Gilbert with 14 free throws in the fourth quarter alone.

I know players that averaged 25 a game that never even played in college. He will be a very good small college player. D-1 is too high.

This game had a playoff atmosphere. Estill was down 11 with 4 minutes to go when Powell tried to take the air out. Steady nerves and big defensive plays down the stretch helped Estill to come out on top. Powell is one of, if not the top defensive team in the 14th. Teams earn every basket against them. They will be a tough out come district time. This game shows just how tough the 56th tourney will be. No one is safe. Dixon and Berryman worked hard for every basket, but showed that they are 2 of the best players in the 14th. On a side note anyone know how Estill's #50 is? He is a starter and went down with an ankle injury in the first half and didn't return.

Wow, the way I understand it, in the second Lee vs. Estill game, Estill was up 11 in the first half when their starting point guard was injured. Then 2 starters sat almost the entire 2nd half for disciplinary reasons. Factor in late free throws, and that is hardly a clock cleaning.

People seem to leave Estill out on a regular basis. What are they lacking not to be considered serious contenders?

Professor, we are going to agree to disagree here. I believe his injuries are affecting him, but the fist game it looked like Estill let Neeley have his _ and not let anyone else beat them. With the return of Smith, the Engineers had to concentrate on stopping Neeley as well. The injuries helped slow Neeley down, but Estill also played him very well.

Since we are on a 14th region roll - Clinton Dixon and Cody Berryman from Estill Dixon is 9th in state in rebounding and averaging 16 points a game and Berryman averaging about 17 a game

Credit Estill's defense also. They were not going to let Neeley get 30 this game healthy or not.

Problem is, Owsley has 3 pretty good players, but the rest are just learning the game. Beside Neeley, Smith and Congleton, Owsley has no other players ready to play Varsity ball. They will be in the future, but right now they struggle at that level.
