Top players - under the radar

Featured Replies

Who are the top players that are not getting the press they deserve?? Flying under the radar because they are at a smaller school, etc....

I know Michael Shue from Villa Madonna is having a stellar season! Everytime I check the box score he's knocking down 18+ pts.! Great kid from a great family! And a very low handicap golfer, too! (did I mention that I loathe him??? (LOL))

The Wight boy from Dayton is also putting up some terrific numbers AGAIN this season.

He must have a heavy dose of athletic genes from Mom !!! (lol)

He gets overshadowed quite a lot because of Walt Allen and Ty Proffitt, but Jordan Hammonds from South Laurel dropped a few pounds in the offseason and his all-around game has improved dramatically because of it. He's more than just a spot-up shooter, adding the drive and dish and interior defense to his game.

After watching NCC play I think Kevin Bueter deserves more pub. Without him NCC would be an after thought.

Dakota Euton 8th and Chad Jackson 8th from Rose Hill are really good prospects. They are supposed to be ranked top in the state for there age.

I would have to say Tyler Rich and Kenny Brandenburg from Lee Co, and Kyle Howard and Jordan Fugate from Jackson City. I know none of these players were ranked in the top players of the 14th region and in some people's opinions their still not. But I think they carry their teams really well and are a huge part of their team's recent successes.

Without Tyler Rich taking so much of the defensive pressure, Lee would not have so many open shots.

Since we are on a 14th region roll - Clinton Dixon and Cody Berryman from Estill

Dixon is 9th in state in rebounding and averaging 16 points a game and Berryman averaging about 17 a game

If you mean Jeremy Wight, he is from Bellevue and yes, he is having another very strong season.

I agree with you Jim, Hammonds is a bit under the radar. I watched him play twice so far this season(Knox Central and Pendleton co. and he impressed me a whole lot. Your right about his all-around game. He does a lot of little things for South that some people don't see. Not to mention he can flat out shoot and plays solid "D." I believe he's only a junior.

Buckner from Eastern, he is something special

Jamie Case-Belfry,Shane Grimm-Paintsville, and maybe Thacker from Betsy Layne in the 15th, Case and Grimm may be top 5 caliber players and Thacker maybe a top 15 caliber plar IMO.

Michael Cooper from Portland Christian is averaging over 21pts shooting over 50% from the field and is shooting 16-43 from long range according to the KHSAA stats, he could be a Sleeper out in Louisville as well, very well kept secreat according to his stats, Under the radar. They are 8-7 at this point.
