OnWaldenPond Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Wow. Rock on JBS, I thought Estill had JBS beat, but Estill's coach didn't seem to want to change up his defense and permitted a run and gun kind of game that benefits the great three point shooters of JBS. Congrats Crusaders. Curious as to why Estill didn't utilize Dixon more?
uk96 Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Tate Cox the 8th grader played a great game as usual and JBS prevailed by double figures just like I said...
Big Game Player Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I also agree, I dont see why Estill's coach didnt adapt to June B.'s offense and change things up a little during the game but who knows. Maybe if he had Estill looses by 20 but maybe they win by 1, i guess thats something Estill fans will wonder for a while. A great game played by June B., Clark never got out of control and Cox played an exceptional game. Cox really played like a senior(ohh wait he isnt a senior). Cox led the team with 21pts and Clark played like a true team leader by not forcing anything and doing what it takes to win. Big Shots were made by Ryan Conley toward the end of the game to give the boost that June B. needed. Estill seemed to play a decent Estill game but by not isolating Dixon in the post and feeding off him. June B. really surprised me by pulling out the victory but Great Job and Good Luck in the Semi's.
CADEREECE Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 JBS had a great crowd. I was wondering where Estill's 2000 to 2500 fans were at. I say they had more like 200 or 250. I think Estill overlooked JBS and did not give the 14th any respect (in previous posts) by thinking all these teams were going to lay down for them coming from the 10th. Cox looked great and Conley hit some big shots. Was wondering why Berryman did not get more shots for Estill?? Dixon is a solid, good player, but he was not the "best player on the floor" in either game tonight.

I also wonder where the fans were, maybe the drive was too far or maybe they said they'd come Fri but whatever it was the fans weren't there like at the Lee game. Estill's fans and bands need recognizing for the Lee game, great crowd and atmosphere to add into the great mixture of the 14th.

Thank you for your unbiased observation....I told these guys all week that the crowd from JBS would dwarf the Estill crowd and that is what happened. I couldnt have said it better myself.
LCHS 1996 Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Congrats to JBS on a great win! Friday's game with Hazard will be a dandy!!
RoundLeather Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Big Game Player posted just what I was going to say. Cox plays just like a senior. The way he helped lead his team and controlled the tempo of the game in the final frame just amazed me. This kid will be something to watch in years to come.
ARC Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 How many threes did JBS hit and how many pts did Stepp have?
BadCat Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Good game for JBS. I am suprised about Estill's crowd not being there though. Maybe too far from Irvine to Hindman on a week night?

Congrats Crusaders. Curious as to why Estill didn't utilize Dixon more? Estill used 3 different defenses switched on a regular basis, and the tempo was hardly Run and Gun. I'm sure the coach was trying not to let JBS get set up into the zone which they never came out of, and which neutralized Dixon's inside game somewhat. Dixon got 15 shots, and that is hardly not utilizing him. Bottom line, Estill contained Stepp and Cox and Conley beat them by hitting 3 big treys in the final quarter. No excuses, JBS beat Estill. Coaching is easy to do from the stands.:thumb:
In My Opinion Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Good game for JBS. I am suprised about Estill's crowd not being there though. Maybe too far from Irvine to Hindman on a week night? Front Row Fan told me that Estill traveled well and didn't mind a few curves. . I think their band is very good. It really pumped the JBS players. But no kidding it is very good .
KIDS FAN Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 WOW WOW. Great game and JBS shocked me. I will eat Crowe for the next couple of days. I thought the Cox kid looked awesome and the JBS crowd was fantatsic. Great win and good luck on Friday.
uk96 Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I thought the JBS and Estill crowd was very respectable towards each other and both teams showed good sportmanship.
