Trey Smith of South Laurel. 6'8 with a great shot. Can do it all, even shoot the trey. He has really stepped up for SL this season and made a big name for himself. Smart ball player and son of former UK player and SL Athletic Director G.J. Smith. Needs to get a little stronger to be the post presence SL needs him to be, but he will absolutely be one of the best.

I am 20 years old, and will not turn 21 till June. I will be a senior in college (credits wise) before I am 21!!! 19 or 20 is wayyyy to old to be playing HS sports IMO. I think the current rule is pretty solid, but I still think that the difference between a 14 yr old freshman and a 19 year old senior is a HUGE gap. No way a kid should be 20 and playing HS sports at all. The goal IMO should be to keep the age limit between 14-18. That is 4 years, and still quite a large gap, but fair IMO. I think the current rule does this, but you still have a few kids who make the cut and end up playing their senior year at the age of 19.

Totally agree. However, they are doubly dangerous when they are playing great offense as well. When SL is shooting well, as well as on top of their game defensively, they are extremely hard to handle. Just like in the Boyle game, they did limit Boyle's shots, as well as force alot of turnovers. However, Boyle still shot close to 60%, which = pretty bad defense. SL has to play great defense if they want to repeat.

True..... but SL shot something around 27 percent from the field despite having more shot attempts, whereas Boyle shot close to 60%. You cant win when you are shooting like that. Yet SL still almost pulled out the win.

Spencer Greer at Bell Co. started 31 games at short stop last year as a 8th grader (22-9)record He batted 4th or 5th in the line up and had a batting avg. of 411 to lead the team.

I agree. I still dont think Goins would have been enough to get Bell the win though. NL is very tough.

When SL is shooting like this NO ONE in this region can beat them. It will take a terrible shooting night (sorta like against Boyle Co.), coupled with a great shooting night for the opposing team (sorta like agsint Boyle Co.) for any team to beat SL.

No I am calling Bell over LC a huge upset because even the knowledgable fans had LC winning by 21. I am also calling it a huge upset because I played in the game, and I know for a fact that we were totally overmatched. I dont think they could have beat us by 40. But I see no reason why they couldnt have handed us a 30 point loss like Rockcastle did in the district championship. As far as their glossy schedule goes... you are calling it glossy because they snuck away with an overtime win against a subpar Belfry team. Every team has a bad game, its the GOOD teams that overcome that and still win the ball game. You also fail to mention that no other team on their schedule played them to within 3 TD's. They also demolished an Ashland team that featured RB Arliss Beach, and that very same Ashland team had eventual state runnerup Rockcastle on the ropes at Rock. Sure their schedule wasnt one of the toughest in the state, but LC was good, and to be 11-0, irregardless of the schedule you play, is pretty impressive. How many teams go undefeated each year, very few.

I know...... just thought it funny that you brought it up, although it was a great point. I am still not sure if "Q" did have games like that against Russel and Bardstown though. I am waiting on a reply. I am pretty sure he did though. But if not...... West was still the #2 rusher in the state at the time and averaging some 230+ yards a game. To hold him to 18 is impressive, especially for a Bell defense that featured alot of young, inexperienced players. Although, to West's credit. He was on a bad ankle, and did have a starting O-Linemen out of the game with the flu.

Will ppl lay off the 40 point underdog deal. I was simply stating that some ppl on this board that LC to be favored by as much as 40. Bell was supposed to get blown off the field, and wasnt supposed to even be able to play with LC. Not neccessarily because of how GREAT LC was, although they were a very good team, but because of how young and inexperienced Bell was. Bell had a few seniors that played alot and contributed, but for the most part they were made up of juniors with little game experience, sophomores, and a few outstanding freshman. I think a guy who played in the game would know, and to be honest, BC was totally outmanned and outmatched. We shouldnt have been within 14 points of LC. As a matter of fact, if the Wright TD run that got called back for holding hadnt have got called back, I think LC might have ended up winning by several TD's. That TD really took the wind out of the sails of BC, but when it got called back it really made BC believe fate was on their side. I also agree with the statement that Wright is one of the most underrated players to ever come out of the mountains. That kid could really play football. A great runner and a physical player with the size and speed to match.

I totally agree....... unless of course you want a good vacation, coupled with some football. In that case go for it.

I totally agree that NL is alot more athletic, I said that before the ball game. I also have no problem admitting that NL beat Bell whatsoever. I havent denied that at all, or ever at any point in the season. LOL. You seem to have a problem admitting that Bell was on a regional roll though, and that Bell and NL are pretty much even. A 9 point game isnt setting the world on fire. Heck, you were one of the persons saying that Bell was the hottest team in the region near the end of the season, and placed Bell as your #2 team in your rankings. SO CHILL BRO. You are really enjoying this wayyyyyyyy toooooo much. LOL. Whatever floats your boat though Les. Bell also did something NL couldnt do, and that was beat Clay. Irregardless of the schedules of Bell and NL, they still play the SAME region teams. Bell and NL are about on the same level, and if they played 10 games, Bell would probably win 5 and NL would probably win 5. Not a big difference between the 2 teams, except the fact that NL is battle tested due to a tough non-region schedule.

Spring practice starts a week after we get back from spring break. Spring break is next week. So I think Spring Ball starts somewhere around the 27th of this month. Practices will be open to the public and we will scrimmage on Saturdays which will also be open.

WOW...... you must really want to prove me wrong or something to do all that math. No doubt you did it with every RB ahead of West, because "Q," as Gibson is better known, was the only RB that that math works with. Gibson had 571 yards in 1 game against Shawnee. If I am not mistaken, Gibson had right around what you averaged out in the following 2 games against Russel and Bardstown. I can email him and find out for sure...... but I think I'm gonna be right on this. Maybe not though. But if I am not mistaken "Q" had 2 huge rushing games against Russel and Bardstown, one for a lil over 350, and then another one for 330 or so.
